shill thread going strong

New mpv user here.

Where's the settings menu?

Also, why did I have to go through the process of finding a 'build' of this player? Surely they could just publish installers on their website for Windows, Mac etc. That's how everyone else does it.

Thanks in advance.

>Updated with the other ewa* scalers
Haasnsoft is pure trash. Knew it.

>splash is free!
>why should we use mpv?

Ha, ha!

Worse than VLC.

Isn't haasn working for the videolan now?

Oh! Zachs (MPDN's creator) is back!

code.videolan.org/videolan/libplacebo

Pfff! Poor mpv, wm4 and now haasn...

Libplacebo will be implemented in mpv too.

development looks dead, whats the next meme player for my autism scaling pixels

They need to get rid of jeeb, he's killing it.

Looks like there is a nasty issue!

Ok since this is the /mpv/ general I must ask, is there a video player that's not mpv that is good on Windows?

PotPlayer FanPack

if you need to ask don't use it

Splash has better interpolation and shaders!

Nah, I'm not a smoker

Also any "packs" I can't really trust to be honest, K-Lite fucked me up good back in the day.

does the newest version of mpv have a built-in "skip to never chronological video in the directory" command yet or do you still have to use outside scripts?

you can achieve the same if not better results with mpv's filters. case in point also, it's community backed but that might be a drawback depending on who you ask.

Community is just jeeb and some fags...

Does mpv automatically handle audio channels to different output setups like 2.0 or 5.1 or you need to config yourself?

scale=spline64
cscale=spline36

So it's default right?

Yes

Question:
When I'm using FSRCNNX, how can I speed up changing output resolutions, like what happens when I enter and exit fullscreen.
Changing between 1x and 4x (no shader and 4x shader) is super fast. But if I want Windowed mode to be 2x, then suddenly there's a lot of lag changing between the 2x and 4x shader.

I understand why this happens, but I'm wondering if there's a way to make it a bit faster.

>Updated with the other ewa* scalers
Why not add lanczos? It's even better than spline64.

doesn't make the player any worse. at least they're turning their autism into something positive.

>lanczos
>better than anything

>Mathematics has determined that the ideal filter for resizing image (using a 2-pass 'tensor' resize technique) is the the Sinc() function. (See Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem).

What would be the best built-in cscale now? Spline64?

Spline36.

That's not PotPlayer

how is this setup
is there anything better

scale=ewa_ginseng
scale-antiring=0.75
cscale=ewa_ginseng
temporal-dither=yes
dither-depth=auto
sigmoid-upscalling=yes

Someone give haasn merging rights.

is it better to use d3d11 on windows10 instead of opengl ?

For me it is

> JEEB: haasn: are we waiting on anything particular to merge the libplacebo changes?
> I'll try to get through that tonight :)

This is what I use
gpu-api=d3d11
gpu-context=d3d11
hwdec=d3d11va
profile=gpu-hq
video-sync=display-resample
priority=high

ITS HAPPENING

mpc-hc > all

>believing JEEB's lies

New to MPV and I like it a lot, but I can't figure out how to make my Fedora 29 installation with Gnome not go to sleep while playing a video other than wrapping mpv in `gnome-session-inhibit` does anyone have a solution? Or at least a way to automatically activate `gnome-session-inhibit` when I start mpv?

>- the Jow Forumsreatest media player
>cant even add subtitles to the movies
ishygddt

I dunno about Gnome, but KDE has something related in the power settings, even though I never needed this, as sleep is prevented out of the box.
Just drag them into the player, Constanza.

will try

Blame GNOME and their shitty wayland implementation. mpv has the proper protocol for session inhibition merged. All of the other wayland compositors implement this.

>Just drag them into the player, Constanza.
it doesnt works

use mkvtoolnix

Works on my machine. On a more serious note, can you provide actual details? Detailed details.

Now with the confirmation that ewa scalers are a meme, should I just use spline36?

Don't you mean spline64?

holy fuck im braindead
i swear to fucking god i did it last time and it didnt worked i used the keybaord hot key and it says no subtitle track

Attached: mpv-shot0002.jpg (1280x544, 84K)

jinc

If you have a dedicated GPU you may have to enable it for mpv

Attached: mpv.png (1204x1134, 109K)

Is smoothmotion still a thing? I've not used mpv in quite a while.
What are the options for frame interpolation these days?

Attached: 1514480955849.jpg (1000x729, 213K)

Alternatively, you can place the sub file in the same folder as the video file and it will auto load the subs

Attached: Screenshot_20190217-105651_Firefox.jpg (809x199, 67K)

Don't you mean lanczos?

Confirmed meme

it makes much more ringing than spline
jinc is better than both

visible on test patterns only

interpolation is worthless
modern TV’s can handle 24P in 60P because internally they render to 120 or 240hz

Why did haasn lie to us?

Attached: partly un-memed config.png (269x263, 9K)

Finally.

That's fine but I'm watching on a monitor not a modern TV

I have a file "opn.dat" (RE3 opening cinematic from PC version). According to the mediainfo it uses MPEG Video Version 1 CustomMatrix/BVOP. When I to seek frame-by-frame, it works going forward, but not backwards. I can only seek backwards 1 or 2 frames and then it doesn't let me anymore. Does anyone know how I can fix this without altering the video?

Have you tried turning off hardware decoding? If that doesn't work you can increase cache sizes for back seeking.

than use interpolation

Why is the Android port so outdated?

Mega satan just use potplayer. It has a functional user interface. Who want to code in loop points halfway through a wank session?

i'm a satan. suffering is my thing.

You set the option once like any other player though

Its fantastic though. Much faster than MX Player or VLC on my old Galaxy S5 (running Pie and custom ROMS AND KERNELS). HEVC x265 Hi10 crap running smooth! :-D

Everything you asked is linked in the first post.

Sell me on the mpv meme. Can I control volume with my mousewheel and pause by a right click?

>Can I control volume with my mousewheel
Yes
>and pause by a right click?
That one's the default.

Installing now, will report shortly.

have fun user
.config/mpv/input.conf

WHEEL_UP add volume 5
WHEEL_DOWN add volume -5

You have to point the mouse to the volume icon, otherwise mousewheel jumps the video. Otherwise not bad, will probably use for a while.

Why would I even use this shit when MPC-HC works fine? Some new weeb format or subtitle standard?

put those 2 lines in input.conf and it'll work everywhere

>MPC-HC
Why would you use this shit when mpv works fine?

Done that, now it's comfy. Thanks user, you a good fren.

mpv.conf
ontop=yes
input.conf
MBTN_RIGHT cycle pause; cycle ontop
SPACE cycle pause; cycle ontop
Why the hell didn't I think of this earlier?

Attached: 1542993015095.jpg (640x701, 45K)

Because I've been using MPC-HC since before mpv existed newfag.

Impossible really, how can every video have the same position you want to loop? kek
tbf I think MPV can have hot keys to do the same thing, I'll give it try for a while and see if the cpu load ant ram usage is reduced compared to potplayer and MPC-BE.

Yeah, but mpv is mvp and now MPC is deprecated, redditor.

so some wmv's arent playing for me on mpv, shows a green screen and sometimes similar things to and what could be causing this?

mpv.conf doesnt have anything weird i can think of

profile=gpu-hq

What codec? The first thing you should try is hwdec=no. Then try it with no config at all.

Are there any shaders that can give modern anime that analogue film look of old anime?

Attached: screen-BangBus - blue dress asian_2019-02-17-00:00:18.jpg (1685x964, 496K)

But did you use MPC-HC before mplayer existed?

bruh who the fuck makes a thread about a media player lmaooo

hwdec=no and no-config both work

You've probably got a broken hardware decoder. I don't think anyone recommends nvdec anymore. Why not just hwdec=auto-copy
