Is Firefox for Android good enough to use as my main phone browser?

or it it still buggy and laggy and heavy and a CPU/battery burner?

Bump, bcs I'd like to know too

>or it it still buggy and laggy and heavy and a CPU/battery burner
yes, it is

It's actually the best version of Firefox currently on any platform desu senpai
Also it's by far the best browser on Android
It supports addons so
>install ublock origin -> no ads, no tracking
>install youtube background player fix -> hear youtube with the screen off, switch tab and the video keeps playing
The ui is nice, the memory usage is lower than chrome and it's snappy, so it's really nice
I don't know why anyone will use any other browser on Android than Firefox, baka

I always just use Firefox and have been using it for years. I haven't noticed it being laggy/heavy but then again I buy the high end phones with high performance. Maybe some more simple browser can feel faster on a low end phone, but that browser might not be open source then.

So what would you recommend, user?

>trying to use firefox with addons on android
no thank you that piece of shit is slow enough already

Enjoy your ad tracking and focus stealing ads user
Also enjoy not being able to hear youtube presentation on the background with the screen off and thus saving battery

The fennec build from f-droid is pretty fast

a bullet to the head
all the non laggy browsers are shitty

>Enjoy your ad tracking and focus stealing ads user
but I don't use firefox and I block ads and trackers with DNS

>Also enjoy not being able to hear youtube presentation on the background with the screen off and thus saving battery
NewPipe and SkyTube got me covered whenever I feel shitty enough to use that terrible google service

Yes, but google's monopoly has allowed them to make the longer youtube videos literally unplayable unless its on chrome, so keep that in mind. Also google play is laggy on firefox as well.

>but I don't use firefox and I block ads and trackers with DNS

that requires rooting and also you still get ugly blank iframes, also it doesn't properly block other ads

if you haven't tried firefox on android in the last 6 months, try it again. for me the scrolling used to be laggy as fuck but it suddenly became perfect after an update kind of recently

It's decent, but I still haven't figured out how to access the uMatrix matrix in it.
You are stuck with the default filters. Which is better than nothing, but not particularly nice.
The delete cookies/cache/etc. option is also a little buried.

>that requires rooting
it doesn't

>also you still get ugly blank iframes
not really, that's more of a desktop version of pages thing

>also it doesn't properly block other ads
works on my machine, but then again you think dns blocking requires rooting so

use IceCatMobile

why don't you try it yourself instead of opening stupid threads

Here is a pic using only Blokada and not ublock origin. Notice the ad.

Now here is Blokada with ublock origin. Notice that the ad is gone?

Firefox, but mount it to RAM.

Are you retarded? Using uBlockOrigin literally INCREASES page load speed.

>INCREASES page load speed
Who even talks this way?
It's DECREASES page load time

that poster talks that way

>having a negative view of the world
You have depression.

>but mount it to RAM.
what does it mean

>You have depression
Depression ain't real, just stop being sad
But I have "depression" although it's not real and I should kill my self
Sorry for being mindlessly polemic

I only use it because of uBO desu. Performance is bad even with NoScript.

Naked browser

it's much faster than it used to be. my phone has a sd 630 and it feels fast to me. i only use chrome for muh translate.

I wish lightning browser was still in active development

I always had problems where the browser would lock up and I'd have to close it and restart it. got tired of it, so I just decided to switch to Brave on mobile. Probably the best mobile browser I've used, imho. All I really need is adblocking.

Unironically Brave
It'll replace chrome as the system browser

Friendly reminder to enable the extra filters in ublock origin on both mobile and desktop. Also, purge the cache and update once in a while.

brave is great for its built in blockers.
but for general purpose I use naked browser vause snappy.

spyware.neocities.org/articles/brave.html

It slows down sometimes, but otherwise it works fine for me on LineageOS, and I open dozens of tabs.

And set privacy.resistFingerprinting to true

Attached: Screenshot_20190217-092513_Firefox.jpg (1080x1299, 210K)

i hate brave but why are forced updated bad

well shit, good thing I use adaway then

you don't need all those filters and firstparty.isolate is more important

I use firstparty.isolate as well. And I think I'll keep my filters. Explain why I shouldn't. Because without them you risk letting more things through. Your advise doesn't make sense since they use different lists.

DNS can’t block tracking cookies you dumbass

they are overkill and I bet you don't even know what they do. if you are really afraid of thing getting through just use medium mode

>overkill
>when it comes to security
Good one

I use ublock origin on nightmare mode on my desktop. Now explain how to on mobile. And yes I have advanced user mode enabled.

Attached: Screenshot_20190217-093718_Firefox.jpg (1080x1282, 142K)

what's nightmare mode

well you have to load a website first

Also, I do know what the lists are for and you assuming otherwise is shows your lack of an argument. ublock origin literally tells you how many filters are being used in each list so if say 0 out of 1000 is displayed then that list is pointless and can be removed.

Blocking all scripts be default globally

github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode:-nightmare-mode

the UI works exactly the same way as the desktop. just do the same thing to block those things

Now what?

Attached: Screenshot_20190217-094308_Firefox.jpg (1080x1261, 151K)

click domains connected just like on desktop

waterfox

>Blocking all scripts be default globally
I do that with uMatrix (and previously with NoScript).
Who in his right mind allows websites to run scripts by default these days?
That's not "nightmare", that's default.

It's still a piece of shit, I tried it last week.

Nice. On desktop I never had to click domains though.
But still, there are sites that require you to noop scripts and having those extra filters helps.

Attached: Screenshot_20190217-094722_Firefox.jpg (1079x1297, 204K)

pretty sure you do have to click it once on a new install on desktop

pic related
I mean it's your phone do what you want, to me it just seem pointless, especially on mobile

It's the only browser I ever use on my mandroid, works fine

When you enable advanced user mode in ublock origin the default is not blocking all scripts. The default is allowing all scripts. You have to select it yourself.

Well all that crap can be disabled, it says so on that page. Therefore it doesn't seem too bad.

this pos crashes even on android. fucking pathetic

clover.
i dont use internet for anything else

>made in germany
>thinks it's privacy settings are good
lol

>>install youtube background player fix -> hear youtube with the screen off, switch tab and the video keeps playing
just download vanced, you cuck.

if you dont mind the lack of a lot of features like tabs, firefox focus is pretty good
it has a built adblock and tracker blocking though sometimes it results in broken sites
it also clears browsing history and cookies upon closing the app

Kiwi >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brave

Use GNU/Icecat available from F-droid

Why are mass replies even allowed

don't fucking reply to my post ever again you six-eyed freak. kys.

thanks for the (you), kind stranger
