Name one (1) situation in which someone would actually use IE

downloading firefox

Our intranet has been developped my retarded monkeys. This piece of shit don't work with any modern browser and nobody wants to change anything.

*installs Firefox 60 ESR on his computer*

You're welcome, Mr. Microsoft.

dumb boomers/zoomers

tech illiterates, school or work computers where you cant install other browsers

theres a differentiation between IE, internet explorer, and E, microsoft edge.
right?

my gf uses windows 10 and edge, she also is studying for masters degree and uses Microsoft word baka

I work at a hospital and all of our “computers” are VMs running Windows 7 with only Internet Explorer available. We can’t download any other browsers

People like to stick to the defaults and that’s why edge is getting chromium and ported to windows 7 and 8.1 and MacOS.

you can install chrome

>The lamda user would make a difference...

15 years ago in my old job my IT boss wanted everyone to use only IE and thought that Firefox was a virus

HAHA THAT MEME :DDDDDDDD
>what is apt install firecucks

>apt install firecucks
ishygddt
Now you have Mozilla/Firefox botnet + Canonical/Ubuntu or Mint/Mint botnet
Unless you are on Debian, so enjoy using outdated Mozilla/Firefox ESR

it's open sorses (free beer)

>Unless you are on Debian, so enjoy using outdated Mozilla/Firefox ESR
I'm on Debian Testing.
I use the latest Firefox.

It's not even people like to stick to default its dumb IT managers that don't want to have to go trough another alley of support for a different browser so they use IE and since they used IE to build and test whatever decades old intranet still in use they are also deathly afraid of using other browsers for fear of it breaking

They’ll all switch to edge in a matter of months

Only if they absolutely have to, they won't unless they have a way of avoiding it

Most will

hp qtp

>>what is apt install firecucks
You DO realize it's in the context of wintrash, right? Are you brain dead?

this is starting to sound like Bill Gates' deposition

>only oldfags will get this ;^)

This one knows.

Who would dare not use Linux in 2019 when windoze 10 is muh botnet. who cares if linux hasn't gotten any better for people to actually use it it's free from MS boogyman

what the hell does microshaft do anymore?

>we don't have our botnet setup for old browsers like IE so you need to use this new browser so we can better "connect" you to the internet.

>IE is not a browser
What is it then?

Edge nigga

Having a job and using legacy programs.

I used Edge for a month or two when W10 came out.

It was honestly very solid, I think there's even a uBlock for it now.

Too bad about the whole w10 thing.

legacy java applications

Support for java applets and the plugin in java 8 is over at the end of march and will be removed at any time. It was deprecated in java 9 and removed entirely in java 11.

I don't use IE11 but I use its user agent to go to youtube

Old people (>50 years) use it unironically at my workplace.
It's going to be fun when I'm going to set Firefox as standard.

In most workplaces the IT department does not allow other browsers.

It's because they have custom web applications that only run in internet explorer, and if they allow other browsers next to it the IT help desks gets swamped by retarded employees who can't get their shit working because they are using the wrong browser.

They won't even notice.
They will even continue to call Firefox "the internet".

You're massively underestimating the incompetence and resistance to change every single massive IT department has.

I remember those days, that was pretty common back then. Thankfully most of those assholes are retired by now.

tfw I work in a company who's consumer base primarily uses IE11 and due to regulations they cannot switch

Smart person. And he's right.

>internet explorer is not a browser

>Internet Explorer is a 'compatibility solution'
And that's what I use it for. If the site breaks on both chrome and FF then i try with IE11

A job where they developed a proprietary portal 10 years ago using IE only features and they don't want to upgrade yet.

run them outside of the browser?

Why would a computer have both IE and APT ,YOU FUCKING NIGGER CATTLE

My country's entire legal system relies on propietary shit that only works on IE

If you want to regulate the browser with group policy

>not sudo emerge firefox

*gets fired*
oh wait, steve-o is no longer in control

A compatibility solution. Can't you read, user?

A lot of shit will completely collapse when IE stops working for a reason or another.

my work website only works on IE for some reason

Reading help files

nah senpai, this dude is right, it's much easier to just tell your employees to use IE than actually spending time making sure old shitty code works on other browsers

>be me
>use windows 10
>use some program
>press F1 to change option
>*press*
>suddenly program hangs
>i am ripped out and alt-tabbed
>IE.exe executes
>takes me to Microsoft Help website
>bing bong yahoo search bars everywhere

The school computers default with Edge, Firefox, and Chrome pinned to the taskbar and one of my professors still uses IE instead

Government run sites only support IE

So you're single then ?

>still using XP
>still using internet explorer
The supermarket I work for is asking for trouble.
