I think I'd like to go with either DT770 PRO or DT880 PRO, but the 8th series seems to be "semi-open". If I want closed should I then choose 7th series one?

Hopefully these are not an overkill for just gaming purposes. I'm not going to mix any music or anything like that.

I have them. With an amplifier, they sound like absolute shit. If you're going to be using them with a phone, desktop or laptop they're good. Really overpriced, but if you like to be fashionable then get them.

For a comparison, I bought a 25 dollar pair of Monoprice Retros and with an amp, they sound EONS better than M50X. The cable would be annoying for mobile use though.
