My uncle has been using the same smartphone for years (a Moto G 1st gen), that thing is basically unusable and the poor old man can't even check out Facebook or make/receive calls without it lagging like hell. He refuses to replace it, though. I'm visiting them next week and I've been thinking about maybe improving his experience a little by installing a custom rom and replacing some apps with their lite versions. The thing is, other than Messenger/Facebook Lite, I have no experience with the rest:
