Full of furfags and not private at all

Very private. Only people that you invite to a server can see messages and you can even make some messages visible only to select groups.

Not at all. Assume everything you post there is logged forever with your IP.

I heard some things about Discord selling data to third party companys, and the CEOs past company doing the same.

They sell data, yes.

Speech to Text software records everything said. All other forms of communication and all personal data you give it are also recorded. All of these is used by Warner Media for marketing purposes. Any hacker those gets into this has a jackpot. They bend over to governments.

Warner Media bought in like last year or whenever.

discord has easy access to everything you do on their service. Unlike other services, they don't use E2EE, thus your data is not secure.

>hacker who gets

fixed

User data but not private messages unless they're a member of your server. Only people in a server can see messages, just try it

How long do they keep group data in the servers after deletion of the group?

Extremely private
Only 5 people can read or listen to your conversations. You, the other people, the NSA, QCHQ, and the FBI

forever

little more than Jow Forums

Anything less than end to end encryption is not private enough.

Jow Forums doesn't have the capability to store everything forever

Jow Forums staff are required to use discord now.

There are archive sites that archive all of Jow Forums. Though they are shit half the time in doing searches correctly.

Nothing is private when the FBI niggers are lurking.

Evidence is required.

Sure. Do this:
- create a server
- upload a picture to the server
- save the link to the picture
- delete the server
And check every day and see how long it takes for the image to be deleted.

Protip: over 6 months and still waiting for it to be deleted.

>There are archive sites that archive all of Jow Forums
They are scrappers. They don't have your IP or any information about you.

Which isn't much more info to archive.

Good tip actually thanks.
There is a server I want to report which has beem dead for one year. Do you think the FEDs could get evidence of it's existence if it's been closed for that long?

There's no secret official Jow Forums archive. We know this because of subpoenas requesting information to Jow Forums.

Yes. If you can give information to trace it back (the exact name, the exact user that owned it, or even better the ID)

I'm not sure what you think you are talking about. I'm talking about how you can easily archive a site like Jow Forums. Because this is incorrect.

Yes it's the ID which is the bitch. I don't have most of those.

It's not easy at all. There's no single website that stores all of Jow Forums. They usually store a few boards, sometimes with files, sometimes without files, sometimes deleting files after a certain time. There are a dozen websites and all of them together still don't archive all of Jow Forums.

Absolute state of Jow Forums

its horrible insecure and run by fug fag pedos, good thing all my friends use it and refuse to switch like total niggers

If you want private and/or secure chatrooms, use something that is end-to-end encrypted and/or self-hosted. Matrix and XMPP can fill both of these capabilities. If you're fine with associating your account with your identity (i.e. phone number), Signal, Wire, etc. can also do that (but not Telegram, since its encryption is shite). Discord, IRC, etc. are not private or secure, since the server sees all the data.

Cool so I can send threatening messages or illegal content over private mesages and never get banned, right?

Thanks

~ OP

what if you delete the picture instead of the server

Just tried, image was deleted.

With corporations, it's guaranteed if there's profit in it. And there is.

Even if it is deleted from the server, if the server is no longer in use the file likely hasnt been overwritten, it is still in tact on the drive and easy for anyone with physical access to rediscover

Why would you need to do that, user?

>long shadow meme
>flatshit
>monochromatic icon slapped on a circle
everything is wrong with this

Not private and who cares. You shouldn't have any expectations of privacy when using a free service.

Answer the question

Zero privacy. Use Riot/Matrix or Keybase instead.

You are dumb. Just use E2E Encryption.

But discord is private to only server members if I set it up correctly. Why wouldn't I use that?

>Discord is private
>Just don't use it for stuff you want to keep private
Makes sense.

It's private-ish until you tell the furfags on their "trust and safety" team that cub porn is disgusting and they rageban you.

Shouldn't you be drinking hennessy and driving at 90 miles an hour through a schoolzone jim?

Cub porn is disgusting, you furfag. Get over it.

Good stream today Jimbo

>"""people""" ITT saying discord is secure and citing the user interface controls as proof

Yikes, how fucking far has Jow Forums fallen?

This isn't flat earther level of retard, but I'm getting the same 'incapable of comprehending anything that isn't explainable in a kindergarten level TV show' vibes

No idea how people realize it now, it was always a furfag shithole, right from the start. Suddenly it's a big thing.

Who is paying you to make this thread every day?

Always presume the worst. How retarded are you?
Snail mail is private, until someone takes the letter from the postman before it gets to you.

>presume the worst
>gives an example where people presume the best

It's not.

furries are becoming a lot more blatant on plebbit and it's been bleeding out everywhere
>there are multiple furfag threads on /b/ right now
hiro should have shut this site down

< Jow Forums is incapability of storing everything forever

You could store everything you ever typed in your entire life and it would require less than 5mb to store in a text document.

If there are 1 million users typing out their entire lives that would be 5TB.

4TB hard drive costs 90 dollars.

< Jow Forums is incapability of storing everything forever
Jow Forums can't afford $90? What about google, apple, amazon offering cheap cloud storage.

don't look at

>when old moot made /fur/ as an april fools joke then banned everyone who posted on it a few days later
those were better days when we had a teenager for an admin

One bot can locate all of your social media.

Posts like this come from a world of delusion and overconsumption of conspiracy theories, rather than a world of actual logic and reasoning. Honestly, what data that comes from primarily game chat do you think Warner Bros can make use of?

>Always presume the worst
No shit, but people have to communicate somehow. Telling people that discord is private and to just never articulate anything they want to keep private EVER through any method of communication because nothing is completely secure is the most low IQ take I have every heard. There are degrees of privacy and Discord is most certainly one of the absolute worst options.

Private servers are good with small friend groups, but everything is logged and the furries who run the Trust and Safety team can read all the messages you've ever posted at any time. So if you get reported to one of these furries then you could get your account deleted easily even if you didn't break any rules.

actually, they can't access deleted messages.

t. Had two accounts global banned on discord for "Harassment"

Congrats, you literally got the point but missed it in the same post.

>Honestly, what data that comes from primarily game chat do you think Warner Bros can make use of?
I don't know, which movie to make into a video game? It's not hard to think of ideas, but it doesn't matter, it's disconcerting to have your data or tracking profile sold to a corporation

>furries are becoming a lot more blatant on plebbit
No shit. That site has always been contaminated by snowflakes and never minded furfags.
>there are multiple furfag threads on /b/ right now
They have been there since /b/ became a thing, no matter how much people want to ban them, there's a reason it's mentioned in the rules it's only allowed in there.

/trash/ was literally made to keep the degenerates contained

None

That’s a recent change ala

TODO: write a bot flooding their image hosting with porn

not very, considering with API fuckery i can accidentally snoop in on admin channels on a server just with a modified client

...have you ever been on an open discord? They all literally have minimum 3 channels dedicated to just porn posting. Each getting 1000+ images a day, not to mention the bots designed specifically to find and post porn. Your bot would be a drop in the ocean

Normalfag here, almost every server has at least 5 channels for porn, most of which have a regular who will post stuff at least every hour

Accessing the actual messages? Most I've done was being able to see that channels I'm not allowed to access exist

yep, you can get the actual messages its really funny

Care to share user?

no its my little secret
not that much of a secret though if you know what youre doing / have written anything with the api before

good luck :-)

They are paid shills, make no mistake about it. Their job is to promote products and to damage control for them whenever they are criticized. No one who uses Jow Forums is this tech illiterate.

About as private as picking up a megaphone and talking into it.

>Warner Bros

No, Warner Media,
>American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate WarnerMedia has invested in Discord.[13]

This company,
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WarnerMedia

They were once called, "Time Warner."
>Its assets include HBO, Turner, half of The CW, Cartoon Network, Audience, Warner Bros., CNN, DC Comics, Otter Media,[4] and a 10% stake in Hulu.[5]

The fact that you have no clue what companies use data for is very telling about your ignorance in how businesses even work.

>implying the FBI doesn't have a dedicated database just for tranny/sissy faproulettes on /b/

as private as any other closed- source software -you cant tell

abort
ABORT

In that case you need to give this "Discord" user the priviledge to join your server and read the message, so it's all good :)

>Free service
>Selling data
You can just assume this going forward, if it's free, the trade of is generally data distribution unless it's by hardcore FOSSfags
