Memes aside, why is wine getting so good in such a short span of time?

Mostly valve.

Vulkan & obviously Gaben helped a lot.

People are fucking sick of Windows, etc.

Playing witcher 3 on Linux is amazing. Gives me hope for the future since windows will no longer be needed for gaming. Direct x needs to die

I don't use wine since 2012, what am I losing?

Yes.

If you are not into gaming of if your games has a linux version then you are not missing anything.

Is there an easy way of running non steam (pirated) games through proton? Tried looking into it a while back and it was a mess to get things running.

Mass effect 1 works decent with wine

Just do whatever this stupid faggot is doing. That's the only way i'm aware of of how to do it.

You can add them as non-Steam games now. Just do that and in the properties for the game, use the force steam compatibility tools option.

You are aware Proton is literally wine with game specific settings? I.e. if you add a non supported game to steam and use proton it basically is vanilla wine. Everything that Proton can run also works with properly compiled Wine but not other way around.

>works with properly compiled
How can one improperly compile something? (or is this the standard if it doesn't work its your fault excuses for shitware)

Steam for Linux is pretty popular now
