How is your STEM degree going, Jow Forums?

Graduated a year ago with first class honours and £38k worth of student debt and now I work as a software engineer.

I don't even know why I bother, I'm working to save money to buy a house and get a mortgage so I can be shackled to a job for the next 50 years of my life to pay off a mortgage so I can retire at 75 and die a year later.

Good luck with that, user. Or you could join our fight against the oppressive capitalistic regime.

No thanks I'd rather just watch anime and masturbate.

Don't you want to fill you life with something meaningful, something more than you? Don't you want to feel the sense of accomplishment?

>Don't you want to fill you life with something meaningful, something more than you? Don't you want to feel the sense of accomplishment?
He said he watches anime already, retard.

Great because I dont belong to the bottom of STEM males so this doesnt affect me

I bought a different pair of programming socks for every meeting.

Soon only 3 years left(5 year degree), probably

To waste.

>graduated with 2.9 gpa and 20k in debt
>job hopping for a year with no employers even remotely considering my application
>finally get a corporate contract job
>paranoid as fuck of losing it doing something stupid
its going, but man its nerve wracking sometimes

Graduated a year ago with >1yr of internships and a high gpa, held a job for a year after a fairly long search, laid off without notice, everyone I reported to jumped ship afterwards, still bitter and unemployed 8 months later.

Sporadically work on personal projects, hackerrank brain teasers, learn new stuff.

Distrust and lack of fulfillment from my old job keeps me from hitting the pavement hard. The thought of uprooting myself for the 10th or somethingth time to some expensive ass tech hub for some stupid enterprise shit only to lose my job again 3 weeks later makes me cringe.

*graduated two years ago

Just say that you are a trans female you idiot, people can just do that now.

>This position is open to female candidates only
Isn't this illegal?

Why wouldn't it be? We need more women in tech.

Why? Do we need more female garbage collectors? Do we need more male nurses?

yes

Started Computer Security Technology BS this semester.

A little late to the game at almost 27yo but I want the education. Since I'm working 50hrs/week, I can really only manage 6-8cr a semester so it'll take me awhile.
>Thankfully 49credits transferred in from my AS at community college back in 2012.

Then why aren't there programs for that, and only for pushing women into tech?

>he still believes in affirmative action

the private sector knows

What are you doing now?

29 year old IT graduate looking for security job. I've got a security internship under my belt. Please make sure to bug the shit out of all your professors and advisors to get you all the relevant certifications. This is something my program lacked, and it's seriously biting me in the ass. Also, I am retarded.

It's a work in progress

>WHY AREN'T WOMEN MORE REPRESENTED IN TECHNOLOGY
Because women think coding is boring.

Neet for a year now. I am considering taking on a offer from the FDM Group in their Technical Graduate route however it is 3 months unpaid training and no guarantee you consult for one of their clients since you still have to go through interviews for a position all while unpaid.
2 year contract for 20k fine also unless you go without a contract for 90days.
I'm thinking its some experience and potentially a foot in software development albeit in Java.

Graduated recently with a degree in CS.

Now working for a defense contractor making close to 6 figures.

I had a pretty high GPA and a couple internships under my belt.

Already graduated with a bachelor of science majoring in computer science a couple of years ago, and working in my ideal programming job.
I had several scholarships and didn't fuck around with my money during university, so my student loan was pretty light going out of it. I'll probably finish paying it off this year.

shutup faggot

I'm thinking of trying out a position as a Data Analyst. Anyone have experience with it? From what I've read you mainly clean data and there is hardly any actual programming since the Data Scientist and Engineers do it instead.

It's a catch-all term, like Data Scientist and Systems Engineer.

No one knows what their actually suppose to do, they just make them do something related to data computation.

I've seen some companies hiring for Data Scientists and Analysts with the only pre-req being "Proficiency in Excel"

>life
>meaningful

Thanks for the info. I'll need to get some more information for the position then. I've seen the salary range a lot for Data Analysts so I guess that's due to what the actual job entails then.

It's only illegal when female rights are violated

That's emasculating

I have an upcoming interview for a PhD program/scholarship and am waiting to hear back on a government job I had an interview for last week, but I'm currently unemployed so fairly medium I guess.

It's going ok. I'll have my MS in Mathematics in 3 more years.

>german cucks

I'm going to do average, vote for trump again, and join stormfront.

>most reasons are "top # reasons" lists.

google prioritizes simple lists and websites adapt to it

UK student debt isn't debt you dumbass.

>debt isn't debt

How can i uninstall the new gmail?

Desktop support at top 20 accounting firm in the country. Been here since Christmas 2017. Nothing too glamorous but $51k and a shitton of OT (non-exempt) is a pretty good gig.

This will be my 6th year in the IT industry.

I may be changing positions in the fall. My company has a sister MSP branch with a NOC in the same building as me. They've shown interest in bringing me on for entry-level sysadmin and network support.

I current have A+, Net+ and Server+.

They said theyd pay for certification vouchers and training material and would let me play with whatever lab equipment they have.

Only downside is no OT, which I get a lot of right now. Early shift 0700-1600 so it wouldn't really matter for the hours. I just want to make sure I'm making at least $55k to match my current salary + OT + promotion raise.

I also need to make sure I don't have a panic attack with juggling: new job, 4 nights a week of school (starting in the fall), and my house/husband responsibilities.

graduated MSc in CS first class honours
2 years NEET

Pretty good. The government is paying for mine for some reason.

I skipped it and went into IT cuz I make only slightly less than brogrammers and don't have any of the debt

Our data analyst just creates crystal reports to dump data from our database to a csv file

>female candidates only

Errr no so fast Hans

>EU Directive 2006/54/EC Chapter 3 Article 14

Apply anyway and then take them to court if they reject you based on being male

Even after landing a $70k job still get contacted for jobs. This CS degree is the tits.

Skipped it and went straight into the workforce. By the time I would have graduated, I was making over 100k.

tell us your story
t. enthusiast who programmed since the age of 14 and never got a job

Just got really good at webdev and did a few freelance gigs while in high school that were good enough to put on a resume. Also contributed to one pretty epic open source project. Once I got out of high school, I just shotgunned résumés our and got an entry level position at ~50k. Turns out I’m just really good at this stuff and got a few raises and then moved on to better positions. Six years in and I’m making 130k.

fugg
user I'm 23 now and i failed my calculus 2 for the second time
i dont projects on my git and I'm paranoid for pushing them to my github
is there anyway that i can fucking do?

fugg, user I'm 23 now and I've failed my calculus 2 for the second time in a row now
i don't have any of my own projects on my github and I'm too paranoid to upload them
is there any fucking way i can get some job?

...

Why do you get your emails in English? Do Germans even speak German anymore?

>calculus 2
I don't know why some universities make you take calculus in a CS curriculum.
Calculus barely helps for general CS.
>I'm too paranoid to upload them
Just do it.

ok I'll upload some, now how do you even get a freelance ? aren't things like that based on luck and connections ?

I don't know. I got my jobs by doing some pretty serious open source contributions.

Hey roww, I just graduated last year, Now im working as a cloud meme engineer

>the position is open for female only
thats why you need to be a shamed posting that here..
Is not your talent it never was

Anyone know how to apply citizenship to USA and make $100k starting salary?

>Oh, we didn't reject him because he was MALE, we rejected him because he only knew seven programming languages instead of eight, only had one PhD instead of two, only did paid internships instead of unpaid, and had a gap in his work history of over a month.
>:^)

that's illegal

The discrimination on modern campuses is disgusting. Back when I was at my university, they'd invite literally world renowned people in the pharmaceutical industry to give presentations but only students who were part of some minorities-only program were allowed to attend. So, you'd have dozens of people sitting there listening to speakers, then when the the only one worth listening to comes out, a hysterical brown female "professor" in charge of the group would start screeching at all the white listeners to get out of the room in very unsubtle terms.

It was obvious that the speakers weren't even informed about this shit as they were always visibly confused. On at least 2 occasions where I was present they asked what was happening and once it was explained to them they just walked out without giving their presentation.

nice made up story

Sorry, Jamal. Your racism needs to end.

I got my degree (mech eng) in 2014, no internships and a 2.9 HPA

Now I'm an engineer at one of the world's largest aerospace companies in one of their most profitable divisions.

>t. high school kid who hasn't seen what's happened to modern universities

Eat a dick shmuli

What did you do? You don't need to name specific projects, just how much you contributed and how big they were/what they're for.

The most I've managed to do is some small contributions to a large project which I... guess is better than nothing?

I wrote about 10k lines of very non-trivial and pretty specialised code for a project. I'm not the founder of the project, but I was there right from the start, so it wasn't exactly contributing to something established.

I got my current job very easily because that specialised bit was exactly what my current employer does.

Gonnna be a junior next semester

>t. Discord server tranny

Graduating in may with no internships

That’s disgusting. I would have literally refused to move. What university?

Go for your Masters and use the mandatory >3.0 GPA to scrub away your shit undergrad

t. what im gonna try to do

Don't tell anyone your GPA when applying problem solved

Got two masters in engineering 8 years ago

How hard is sophomore/junior/senior of Undergrad compared to freshman in terms of GPA-for-effort? I’m headed for like a 3.8 at this point by the end of my freshman year but I’ve only had 3 CS and one math class so far. I got a heavy scholarship to a low-tier college so it’s been pretty comfy desu.

>got co-op the summer of my junior year
>will graduate with a year of experience with a single company where I did R&D, ~20k lines of my code in active use by their clients
>president of a university club
>research assistant
>putting in hours with a local startup
>volunteer on my weekends as a mentor for a high school engineering program
>making daily contributions to my projects
>so many blue dots on gitlab
>still keeping a 3.0 GPA
I'M DOING IT BROS

Also this if the job posting doesn’t ask you to specify.

sidenote: Google no longer requires a min gpa and probably wont bother to ask you about it anyways. They also offer a (basically) contracted position where you work at a lower pay for a year with them if you flunk out of a full time postion application process.

Godspeed user

That's only if you are a diversity candidate.

Can i be a tranny nigger

Universities are outright hostile to white men these days. I had a professor who had been teaching since the 70s that I'd talk to all the time and he told me all kinds of shit that he saw. He was pretty much convinced that America was going to become 3rd world at some point the way they were denying opportunities to the most promising students and showering opportunities on lazy retards who were incapable and uninterested in doing anything with them.

So why doesn't this sort of thing allow for a discrimination lawsuit? Surely feminist judges cannot hold things back this much.

Excel is top tier reactional functional programming language

Because I am not g*rman

Not so good. The newest hire has a degree in gender studies, and she's going to be in charge of me.

Why did I fall for the STEM meme? And how am I going to drop subtle redpills in slack now?
