What's the last version of mpv with proper xv support? I'm trying to run it on some older computers (early Core 2 Duo, planning to install on some Pentiums), and though xv works beautifully on the C2D (outputs 1080p24 h264 just fine), it causes the onscreen display to become blurry for low-res videos. hwdec isn't an option, the Intel GM945 doesn't support h264 decoding.

According to the manual, OSD and subtitle issues are normal for vx. It doesn't say that it's been deprecated anywhere, so I assume the latest version is fine. Have you tried gpu-dumb-mode?

>GM945
You mean GM45?
aur.archlinux.org/packages/libva-intel-driver-g45-h264/

>xv
If you use .27 mpv or earlier the default opengl profile will perform better than xv, certainly have less bugs too, as xv is sort of deprecated. .28 or later aren't really viable for weaker intel products.

even VLCtards are less retard than this guy posts

Post your sub config, please.

keep bumping the thread dear ;)

mpv is best software

will I get better performance if I switch from windows to gnu/linux with vulkan? not that I'm complaining, just curious

probably the same, the performance gain if any would come with the change to no bloatware OS

what is the maximum debanding settings i can put in conf that equals madvr maximum dedbands ?????

MPC + Microsoft Windows

ask maddollarshi

why does mpv load shit recursively by default? how do i stop it?

is there anyone who uses mpv and isn't into children cartoons? all i see is gook shit.

Can you be more specific? Do you want to load the whole file at the start?

I want to quickly load files from dir1 instead of taking a long time to build a huge playlist from dir1/dir2/, dir1/dir3/etc. I can build the playlist with some external utility, but this is strange behavior for mpv.

Best config for mpv on Windows
gpu-api=d3d11
gpu-context=d3d11
hwdec=d3d11va
profile=gpu-hq
priority=high
ontop
fs
and optionally video-sync=display-resample

have you seen the mpv devs?
all of them are weebs

Is the file a higher res?

Video nerds are usually weebs.

who?

Vulkan and D3D11?

Forgot to delete that vulkan line.

Artoriuz add the chroma tests my dude

Best profile and shaders for 1440p 60Hz display? Vega 56 GPU, X11.
Currently using gpu-hq, hwdec=auto-copy and SSuperSim up and downscaler. I watch both anime and "regular" stuff.

Official for non-normalfags in general

d3d11 is safe and I have a good GPU

d3d11 vs d3d11 copy?

Mathias Rauen aka give me your money for free

Look, listen here all of you, stop trying to be an elitist. I posted in a desktop thread not too long ago and some anons started making fun of me for having a vlc icon in my taskbar. VLC is fine considering the way most people use media players, why would anyone care about extra features that like 4 people use. You guys are so full of yourselves that you'd argue about media players lol go ahead and create another linux thread you neckbeards

HAHAHAHAHA

Sry, mate, rly on your side but this is a tech board, the hell you expected son?

What is the best scale and cscale for SSSR and ravu? Which ravu is better? r3 or r4? luma or yuv or rgb? For live and animated content.

>SSSR and ravu
Use FSRCNNX 8

IRCfags give us an update

Well JEEB did actually merge something today.

So is spline64 better than ewa_* scaler?

youtube-dl with mpv loads every video almost instantly for other websites, but on youtube it can take up to 20 seconds. It varies from roughly 8 to 20.
ytdl-format=bestvideo[height

Attached: hdd.webm (1280x720, 796K)

>bestvideo[height

Attached: mpv.png (1458x4891, 912K)

I'm not good with that.
I was drunk one night and some audio from some site wouldn't work but that finally did it.
What would you change it to for 720p vp9?

just give it a try, it's really nice

"best" is the best overall video and what youtube-dl fetches for sites that aren't Youtube (since most websites don't serve video/audio separately). Removing
webm+bestaudio/mp4+bestaudio/mp4+m4a/webm/mp4/0
should have no impact on your current selection process (unless you're working with oddballs like coub).

Not sure how Youtube currently handles those best overall videos (I think they only serve up to 720p, but no idea about the codecs or frame rate), so you might want to add additional checks to best. Something like
bestvideo[height

Thank you!

mpv doesn't have an equivalent to madvr's ewa_lanczossharp anti-ringing filter, right? i'm 99% certain but figured i'd ask anyway in case i missed something in the manual. it's one of the only things keeping me from switching to mpv.

Haasnsoft. r2-yuv and r2-chroma-left.

github.com/haasn/gentoo-conf/blob/xor/home/nand/.mpv/shaders/antiring.hook

trash

What's everyone cache configs?

thank you. i guess i don't have an excuse to use madvr anymore.

for luma upscaling yes, see the link at the top

No.

linear-upscaling or sigmoid-upscaling?

>video-sync=display-resample
lol

is this a joke?

you realize your precious weeb trash that is almost always encoded in 10bit these days gets downsampled to 8bit with hwdec on, right?

>d3d11va is safe when used with the d3d11 backend. If used with angle is it usually safe, except that 10 bit input (HEVC main 10 profiles) will be rounded down to 8 bits, which will result in reduced quality. Also note that with very old ANGLE builds (without EGL_KHR_stream path,) all input will be converted to RGB.

>artoriuz.github.io/mpv_upscaling.html
PSNR-HVS-M is useless, it doesn't take into account change in contrast (sharpness). There is PSNR-HMA for that.

what do you use on windows to install mpv and other utilities like it to keep them up to date?

trying to set it up on a windows computer and I'm used to brew/apt-get easily installing everything ready to use in your $path

Does mpv actually not support mkv linked files?
I tried googling about it and all I could find was some developer sperging out about it, but that was years ago.

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-02-23 at 14.34.55.png (761x217, 13K)

how can I make an auto-profile that is automatically enabled once I launch a file with the resolution of 720x576?

profile-desc=cond:get("height", 0) == 576 and get("width", 0) == 720

Is there an alternative to Twitch where I don't have to go there, but can still watch current streams there? Like there are alternatives to Youtube such as hooktube?

mpv twitch.tv/

Retards

thank you very much. that finally worked. I was using

profile-desc=cond:p.width>576 and p.height>720

but it wouldn't work

Attached: amd jew.png (1251x223, 42K)

use github.com/streamlink/streamlink-twitch-gui/releases

I have been using it for 2 years. you can select mpv as the video player within the gui. much better then the bloated trash that twitch has become.

thank you very much. that finally worked. I was using

profile-desc=cond:p.width>720 and p.height>576

before, but it just wouldn't work.

Attached: amd jew.png (1251x223, 42K)

Is ravu dead now too?

Attached: 1531874424044.png (1036x103, 15K)

This And if you're some sort of degenerate that needs to use chat, you can use twitch chat through IRC.

trying to set up mpv on windows
where does the .config folder go?

tried C:\Users\Me\.config but it doesn't seem to be working

For twitch VODs, I've been using twitchrss.appspot.com/vod/
pic related is palemoon with "open with" extension. Super comfy.

Attached: nobloat.png (784x905, 392K)

make a folder called mpv in the same folder where the executable is located. You can put mpv.conf and input.conf in there.

> echo %appdata%\mpv

It should support it. At least it does for me with my anime openings being linked to each episode to help save HDD space. Just tested it out right now.

what about script-opts and scripts?
I put them in AppData\Roaming\mpv\ but they aren't working

Those folders also go into the same folder where the .exe is.
