Because the basedboy numale cuckolds don't know how to do shadows or specular highlights. Everything must be single colored (note: The buzzword for this is "flat design")

Those pictures aren't isometric, retard. They aren't even ortographic

Flat icons are just better.

Because we stopped having real life things to compare them to. I mean, a music program might have had a CD, or record, to demonstrate what it is, but people listen to music on a phone or computer. Same with movies, and printing, and everything.

Because it's easier and cheaper to employ people who can't draw.

Nothing is recognizable. Its just aesthetics-related autism over convenience.

will there ever be a more /effay/ icon set?

they should, in theory, scale better across different resolutions of screens because they are basically vectors but i don't think they use actual vectors for icons which is weird.

If you have an old T60 or older laying around put Warp on it. The two go together like a hand and a glove.

You should both be intentionally blinded.

>i don't think
I see

Don't really understand any of the two bottom rows beside Photoshop and the Id that I suppose is another adobe program. Two of them are just random shapes.
Also can't understand the difference between the notepad, the pencil and the book, and what is that drop of ink?

>tumbler posters everywhere

they look hideous

The final step of minimalism will be a box with the programs name written on it. And it will take 2GB of RAM per button for some reason.

>a box with the programs name written on it
based

this is kind of what i was thinking en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku_Vector_Icon_Format
still, it would only make sense for say windows ui team to make their icons in some vector format and maybe implement it as some sort of icon format, i think.

Flat and colourful icons are much better

Attached: kkk.png (2150x1264, 1.75M)

there is not a single flat icon on your pic, dumb ivan

skeuomorphism a shit

Imagine politicising icons
Yikes

Can you please share this icon pack, my friend?

Jow Forums is mentally ill

How do you guys feel about photorealistic 3D icons, like these made in Blender for GNOME 3?

libregraphicsworld.org/blog/entry/using-blender-for-icon-design-in-gnome

Overkill. Adding that much detail is also pointless, nobody is going to notice it

Imagine using the phrase "yikes"

yep, now that was the colours

Is it bugging you that the weather widget is not in black and white?

>thing i dont like is reddit

looks like shit
>same colors
>same shape
can't distinguish icons just by glance

fuck american icons

look at Spotify you imbacile fuck

Gnome are dropping them next release.

Search the icon catalog for the irix interactive desktop. They are also included in the maxx interactive desktop along with updated vector svgs

I hate "symbolic shit in circle/square" icons. It's so fucking lazy.

windows10 made me switch to linux but this flat desing with 2 colors only is peak UI, i wish we had that on linx

>peak ui
>half of them don't have any relation to the program's function

>I don't know how to design a good icon compilation

the style is peak UI, not the actual drawings... i like that they force a pattern of style for all the programs wich you can further customize with colors since its a backgorund-foreground scheme

They don't though. That's not what Windows 10 looks like by default. That's somebody's shitty icon pack from DeviantArt.

>using Gnome

yes

Attached: g icon set.png (852x434, 121K)

unironically great

because windows is a fairly obscure operating system that hardly anyone uses anymore. Most people use phones and tablets that dont have windows OS on them. The fact is that we are also trying to get away from representing everything pictorially . Abstract representation is far better and future proof

OS2, oh man I totally forgot OS2 ever existed

Panther was peak OSX, fucking fight me

>Muy nublado
Give it back Pedro

>hey Jow Forums let's make a desktop environment
>I'll work on the icon
might be the only time it worked out well

I wouldnt worry about it.
Jow Forums are like those 16th century monks that used to whip themselves for their sins, except Jow Forums just beat themselves up every day because they just read Marx for beginners and think they know everything. They literally punch themselves in the balls if they dont politicise everything

Attached: 16col-Icons-2015sanim.gif (640x680, 67K)

they're actually more consistent than you might imagine
and some of the tidier once have a legitimately nice handmade quality to them

You already have two color flat interface out of the box, just don't use a graphical interface :^)

The passive/active icon variation on Amiga was hot shit. Never saw one better than the Ambermoon one though.

Flat unicolor designs are horrible in that if you change your background to something that is not strongly contrasted with icons, you can't see them very well, reducing usability. XP-era did not have that problem. On Android it's rampant and creeping worse on Windows.

Literally never understoon why people get so funny over icon sets and icons matching. I mean, the programs aren't the same, so why make the icons the same? Use the icons as a shorthand for the software itself.

Back in the days every icon was small work of art, I also don't care about them being all the same style but flatshit is just cheap and lazy.

Attached: page542_3.jpg (705x1009, 127K)

Atari ST had very comfy style to its monochrome icons.

I kinda like the haiku ones but they don't have as much character.

Jow Forums sure are a pest but they are norhing compared to you twitter idiots that spam this board with "muhh Jow Forums boogeyman" with every negative opinion

Colorful Materia Icons look nicer and are more intuitive than isometric, since you only need to glance and shape and color to figure out what its about.
