39 minutes to explain man pages, wow.
>Hey idk what this one thing is or what it does
>Open a terminal
>Type man (short for manual hehe)
>Type name of thing you want to know about after “man”
>Read and scroll with arrow keys

It’s not hard at all

>Open a terminal
congrats, 90% of your audience is already lost

>but then they're retarded
which is exactly why it's 40 minutes

i aliased my 'man' to 'woman' because i'm not gay.

i aliased my 'man' to '"woman"' and I got a syntax exception.

>implying you woman can explain you how to use things

> not using tldr pages

>womanual

I like how no one considers that the video could be about groff authoring.

based incel poster

It would be better to just have a video explaining why man pages are so important because hopefully noobs would stop filing forums with basic questions that are answered in the man page

It's probably also an unintentional less tutorial
The video starts out with a terminal though

>man pages

>not using search engine +query for exponentially more information than you'll fit on a single hard drive of fucking manual pages

I feel like a lot of times it's faster to just man foo, search keyword, q, retype command- when you just forget a flag or something.

>google stuff
>the result is on linux.die.net
RTFM

there's a package in emacs called woman.
it means w/o man(ual)

What does it do

What are some cool shell tricks to navigate man pages user? Please share your man-fu.

>alias man to woman
>manual page grows from 180 lines to 372840 lines
>after reading it all I still have have no fucking idea what the command does

Fuck off retard.

the fuck is there to master

>Alias man to woman
>Suddenly bash has no idea what the fuck you want or typed in.

Archwiki and other online sites are infinitely more helpful than manpages. I don’t want to sift through dozens of obscure options that nobody ever uses just to find out how the fuck to do common tasks. Web guides are often, well, guides. They tell you exactly what you need to get things working with a sane configuration. They explain using steps.

>alias man to woman
>bash starts speedrunning Tux Racer

how have SJWs not reprimanded man pages yet?

It really should be human and not man, that's pretty offensive

you got to start somewhere.

Yeah, I mastered the art of never looking at them.

I ain't got the time to read an essay on some program.

>yfw man was the old english word for human

yes, of course. I've read man man.

Peak soi

>alias man to woman
>adds a lot of syntax coloring and underlining
>always online, even when you have the docs
>security vulnerabilities let others use your computer now

I keep my man in my user bin.
