Comfy early computers

Video games are so embarrassing.

We all have our vices user

Video games are a great means of entertainment, it's when /vr/ acts like they're the only thing a computer was used for back then that it starts to become cringy.

Where's the early computers though? I just see a bunch of 80s and 90s consumer stuff.

op prolly meant: personal computers

Look at all these actors

Of course, they're brochure photos.

Unlike games it's got a real keyboard....

Looks like he's pulling a module out of a larger box.

Tabs vs spaces.

>God damn it Bob, stop with this nonsense, we don't even have a tab key

has anyone here done a modern take on this aesthetic with their computer builds?

>That's nice Richard, get back to work now

you can literally say that about a quantum computer dipshit

I'm not sure but maybe because of cyrillic's more regular forms and height it looks so comfy.

All computers are just calculators. Hence the name, "computer," since they, "compute." Which is all a calculator does. You could use the word, "reckon," too. "Reckonator," has a nice ring to it.

Classy

These things are very sexy. Imagine someone making one of these with modern hardware. I'm sure there's a market for this. Way stronger than laptops, way cooler than shitty desktops we have today.

Attached: a1200.jpg (4032x3024, 1.58M)

We used pic related in primary school. I can't even remember what OS they ran.

acer predator 21x
prove me wrong

i dont' want a fucking monitor attached to it, because I don't need any kind of mobility. Just a keyboard computer form factor.

Also, that laptop is fucking trash. It overheats all the time and throttles everything.

We had these in primary school too, I vaguely remember a bit mapped wizard as the backdrop and going into colour coded areas to get to things.

What is it?

But what's so cool or superior about them though other than nobody making them anymore? They just combine all of the weak, soldered-in, poorly cooled and unupgradable parts of a laptop with the non portability and bulkiness of a desktop in a pretty ugly and same-y package that just looks like a thick keyboard that you can't really adjust/move because of cable spaghetti everywhere.

I really don't get why so many zoomers lust after these things.

Disregard that.

Goddamn I really love the aesthetic of old computers. I've been trying to track down a working red Sharp X1 turbo for years.

Attached: Sharp X1.jpg (600x759, 56K)

No, I insist.

Literally every year some asshole buys the rights to the Commodore name and tries to make their own nuPC that never goes fucking anywhere for some reason.

the phone wire running across the room i bet

I've got a DEC Rainbow 100-A in the other room. I have to find the cable for its keyboard. Pic related, it looks like a telephone jack but the connector is somehow thinner?

More DEC stuff

so how the fuck would it run from the floor to across the desktop? im sure that line in the pic is some defect from processing or something its not a fucking phone wire.. the left it appears to come our of the wall then runs on top of the desk. if you look the line is in the exact same place. how the fuck can it run along the same line of sight, if its on the floor first?

you people are fucking morons

I scored one of those, has a blown PSU though and I wasn't able to fix it yet. (Haven't really tried either, it's one of those projects you put off for 'later')

that's right. Y 2 asK?

>This is an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here.

Boss, I have no idea what to do!

It's /vr/'s focus.

Conversely, every time a retro thread gets started here on Jow Forums some edgy little contrarian shit jumps in and starts shit posting.

Fuck I love this image. So comfy.

Attached: 1477827590608.jpg (1078x719, 257K)

Yeah, there's always some triggered faggot whining and projecting all over the place about how everyone who likes games is an LGR hipster/toddler or everyone who likes messing around with old software/programming is a LARPing office drone or whatever.

It's gay as fuck, all old computers are great.

Attached: r85r5612.jpg (5296x4334, 1.16M)

Please don't tell me you really think programming is any different in old computers. It's still all the same x86 shit.
And don't tell me otherwise, because I know you shitheads only know and lust after IBM PCs and its clones.

Nigger what
I'm not taking that ass-tier bait, get out of here

Did I hit a weak spot?

Attached: sparc1_front.jpg (800x414, 45K)

My teens was spent with an aptiva. I remember it fondly. Was 1997. The year I got internet access for the first time (28.8 Dial-up). Also the year I got my PS1. Had k6 200 mhz, 32mb ram, and a 2.1 gb hdd. Rage IIc graphics (2mb).

Perhaps.

Attached: NRab_Voyager_007.jpg (750x600, 286K)

is that a minitel terminal?

.... is that an HP Chipmunk?

Ah, the keyboard that crippled an entire generation of hackers. It was like typing on a cardboard-covered wooden palette that had been in the rain for a week.

>area had 3 fucking IBM facilities at one point
>the entirety of Dutchess County was essentially a company town for IBM at one point
>literally no fucking old models to buy, collect, or find in the entire fucking Valley

Goddamn capitalism is a fucking failure, I just want to build sleepers and sell them to rich little shits at Marist and New Paltz

It is, never heard of that codename but glad I did, found some cool shit looking that up.

Oh, awesome then. I did two terms of semiconductor lab on those machines back in the day.
