if steam were 100% dead serious about linux, they'd make an exclusive

but they're not, they're lazy greedy fucks with 0 attention span with that stupid dumb pervasive THE ALGORITHM WILL SOLVE ALL OUR PROBLEMS, ALL HAIL THE ALGORITHM attitude

>they'd make an exclusive
>2% of the marketshare 65% of bug reports
That'd make them terrible businessmen.

this is true. however, if you've got any other ideas on how to get many people to cut away their one remaining big, heavy Windows anchor, be my guest

'come to linux if you want to play Ricochet 2, also look most of your other games work too. how about that'

Isn't one of the requirements for publishing a game on Steam is a game to have a Windows version?

i don't know. i don't know why Valve would care though, as long as they get their 30%

Yes desu. I even think that Linux exclusives are banned on Steam, see .

They don't need to do the work for that part. Windows is running users off in droves, let alone the tech oriented ones. All they have to do is be patient and silently hoard gold like Scrooge McDuck as Microsoft sends them infinite users due to their own Pajeet-incompetence.

To do what you suggest they'd have to make HL3, and it'd have to be GTAV+Skyrim+Coop+Titty mods tier of praise worthy.

>hurr we need exclusives please fuck my ass so I need 5 platforms to play different games
what's with the obsessiom of vtards with exclusives?
it's just a strategy to fuck you in the ass by segmenting the market.
every platform is as capable of running the other game if you compile it for it. It's fucking stupid.

because an exclusive would show that valve are 100% committed to their support of Linux. instead of their usual strategy of launching a thing then abandoning it because booooring old news yawwwn (see: broadcasting, the music player)

The big issue lies with the marketing wank used to separate console peasants from PC users.

Namely, control schemes; add keyboard and mouse, as default, for each, so their playing (pc&console interplay) on the same field, generally speaking, and it becomes more obvious to the (((Facebook))) users that what they're really on is a gimp PC, which even the normies would catch on then and start looking into low-mid-end PCs for gaming, killing the non-mobile console market in less than a generation.

Stick to the gay controller scheme and it seems more exclusive, special, more "console."

>hurrrrhdududdrrrrrrr jdjdurhur
just release native compatible versions retard.
development can be pretty modular of the devs aren't pajeets. As shown with source engine games which run natively on Linux

GNU users are used to actually working with software developers and helping them make more compatible software. Windows useds don't bother reporting bugs because they accept whatever shit they get, i.e: Windows 10.

This was one of the greatest things to happen for gaming on Linux. Now about 90% of my steam library runs perfectly fine, and more and more games are still gaining compatibility.

>yeah your computer emits nerve gas and begins downloading child porn from a Russian darknet server, but the game boots to the title screen and so meets the strictest dictionary definition of 'works'
>closes ticket: works4me, wontfix

the fuck are you talking about, schizo

wat

i'm making a silly joke about how there is a difference between 'game technically runs at a bare minimum level, release it' vs. 'game works without any problems whatsoever'. like anyone's going to be carefully ensuring eight-year-old shitware games run 100%

and if eight-year-old shitware games don't run 100% on Steam Play compared to Windows, well, why use Linux at all for gaming

Most 8 year old games I ran work perfectly fine nigger. Maybe a few games have some little glitches, but not game breaking.
Also I use Linux for gaming because I also use it for everything else. Imagine installing windows only because "muh gayming"

>Not even MTP-Target

PAAAAAthetic.

All that means is that GNU/Linux users are computer literate and responsible.

kek

> Imagine installing windows only because "muh gayming"
Unironically me (and many others as well). It's a mindshare thing right now. If Linux can shed it's "Gaming on Linux = LOL" image I'm sure people will flee in droves. At least as long as A. There's accessible distros for beginners/normies and B. Classic/Legacy game compatibility becomes on par with Windows 7 (10 can be a nightmare for some oldies). Right now, 7 is still getting support, but I'm hopeful about the future.
