STAX

Basically hpg

describe how would one react when going from a cheap Sony headphone (12-22kHz, 30mm drive, 24Ω - MDR-ZX110) to a SHP 9500 with a anime girl reaction image

ST*X

Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap just like Fostex does.

>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax

Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.

dropbox.com/s/61srehjyaltd7w0/Stax SR-009S.pdf?dl=0

dropbox.com/s/dm0m6u3s3b4zqzl/Sennheiser HD600.pdf?dl=0

It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.

Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.

In a separate study:

>The very highest end STAX ($4000 SR-009) was rated lower in blind tests than a $200 K701

Oratory (respected sound engineer) on the build:

Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomers. And what they say is true, they have no soundstage.

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:

Can /hpg/ help me?
I'm looking for circumaural closed headphones for my dad. It's for listening classical music and jazz. His ears are 65 yo so not up to original spec. He usually doesn't like strong bass and he likes to very slightly boost treble. I need it with a 3.5 jack.
He previously had old Koss hp from the 70s.
I'm looking to spend 350+-50€
I know nothing about the market nor what are the good brands.

COP+ with dt770 pads

Based and redpilled. The data keeps piling up all against the shilling.
I'll remind the shills here that you're going to be out of a job soon : the chinks at Edifier are taking over control over Stax in more than just owning them.
>It's difficult to communicate with our japanese team
>to follow our roadmap follow our schedule
>most of the time their idea is that we're trying day by day everyday their best to improve the product but when can we achieve the goal? they never know
>I WILL RET YU KNO WHEN I REDY
>interesting but these days we have more developers in japan in stax that's why we can have new products coming much much faster than before
youtu.be/2_iISfVWXsg?t=877

Or you could get the Custom Studio and already have velour pads on them and the better, easier to replace version of the headband. Why the COP?

>STAX chart looks worse than the $200 HE-400i

Lel how can STAXcels ever recover?

Also they need to be comfortable to be used for several hours long.

These beauties right here.

Reminder to buy speakers if you have the space. Reminder that speakers offer a true, realistic and accurate life size sound stage, imaging and dynamics. Even a $10k headphone system will get dumped on when stacked against a modestly priced stereo system.

If you disagree with me you’re delusional or ignorant. Children who still live with their parents need not bother responding. Yes, we understand your “living situation” doesn’t allow you the privilege of speakers.

Attached: F60D7283-A5DB-454E-9702-D2EEBEA499D0.png (464x452, 187K)

speakers literally sound worse than ksc75 though

based and speakerpilled.

>Children who still live with their parents
Some of us live in apartments. Inner city life comes with its up and downs.

I need to upgrade my studio monitors. Is LS50 a good meme? KEF is unironically shilled on audiophile forums and reek of snake oil

Are we being raided? What's with all the butthurt nostaxers?

Attached: 1549981981144.jpg (705x741, 140K)

Are we being shilled? What's with all the stax spamming?

Once I get staxsu i will tell hpg all about them. ill also post pics too.

Even in a big apartment there's the issue of neighbors. A subwoofer for example will be heard even through a thick wall unless the room is isolated specifically for that.

Your point is valid mostly for the suburbs with detached houses.

Attached: blown.png (1500x809, 1.12M)

It's basically a massive gish gallop, nobody has really cared to comprehensively debunk. Some of us have lives you know

>Even in a big apartment there's the issue of neighbors.
This. I don't want my neighbors to listen to my anime girl music and my feet watching porn where the lady says autistic things such as "I bet you want to sniff my smelly feet."

I have subwoofer and speakers and live in apartment. And it's fine, no special isolation required.

Can someone recommend a stand for stax that's neither the officiar nor a wee wahoo one?

>and its fine xD
Let me guess you are also a nigger?

amazon.com/dp/B01H6FC8KQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kfVCCbTJEBMA4

No, I just don't see any problem if my neighbors listen to music a little bit. I don't listen loud (well that depends on music) and obviously not the whole day.

STAX shills have nothing in the script for that huh?

>Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.
>i.imgur.com/W7hz3rh.png
aren't both the LCD2c and the ananda twice the price of the L300?

Yes, they also sound worse.

audiocubes.com/collections/headphones/products/stax-srs-3100-electrostatic-headphone-system
A full stax system is $800. You can't run the L300 out of a normal headphone out unlike normal headphones like the LCD2C (which does run fine from anything : reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/7zuflj/whats_the_benefit_of_an_external_ampdac_for_the/ )
You need the specialty headphone amp that no one even knows how to measure. $800 is the minimum entry price for brand new. That's exactly what the LCD2C costs.

youtube.com/watch?v=Bf38cKJ6NBc
Stax truly is money well spent.

Wow they charge $800 for that piece of shit? It wasn't worth the $600 on sale. Audeze really needs to get a reality check.

hey guys can we talk speakers here

Just create a speaker thread. It usually dies really fast though because there are seem to be no shills and people with speakers are usually happy for a long time with them

i just wanna ask if the klipsch desktop speakers are worth it at $500CAD :o(

it's actually because speakers sound worse than ksc75

LCD2C does sound pretty good. Although I want to try LCD2.

In order of which sounded best in Audeze I tried.

LCD4>LCDX>LC2C(very close to lcdx)>LCD3
The LCD4 is better but isn't worth the outrageous price so I will probably get LCD2C or LCDX depending on how LCD2 sounds.

Repent

are those audio technica with m50x still the best bang for buck headphones to get?

nope

what's the new meme to get?

they never were

fill out the form

What do her feet smell like /hpg/?

Why do they get shilled so much? I got my dt 990 pro for the same price and sound a million times better. Akgs are cheaper and much better as well.

>Why do they get shilled so much?
Because normie tech tubers like tech nigger shill them. So normies like them too.

cuz people are idjit

Decent but with this amount of money, whatever

I would do lots of things to those feet with my penis.

Do I have too many headphones?

can this meme die

different drivers, havent tried studio but cop are quite great

LS50 are audiophool lifestyle garbage, you can get much better speakers for lower price

Attached: 8030A-LS50.png (1200x1110, 246K)

you really bought the meze
you really did this
give money to romanian scum

I've tried them both, lcd2c sounds like muddy garbage after listening to lcd2, not worth at all imo

Impressions on aeon flow open?

And whats the headphone on the top right?

>This is why they don't demo them in store

I've seen them at meets from official vendors.

However I must agree, they were nothing special. Then again I've not been overly convinced by any electrostatic, and I've heard the HE-1 and the Shangri-La.

no thats perfectly reasonable go spend more shekels

LS50 truly are garbage.

>horizontal directivity contour
go away genelec marketing team

Best SQ/weight/comfort I've had so far. It's really its own thing.
DESU, I thought it was ugly and gimmicky before I heard it.

It's the closed one. Love it, it's my daily driver at work. Very comfy and isolation is one of the best I've had.
Top right is Meze Empyrean

if you can find them around 700 or so

poorfags

I'm looking for cheap headphones for work. I'm in an office environment, so I can't do open back.

>Budget - $75 flexible
>Location - US
>Source - Crappy work computer
>Type of headphone - full sized
>Open or closed - closed
>Comfort level - at least 7/10
>Sound signature - neutral is better but at this price I can compromise
>Past headphones - Sennheiser 600, I like pretty much everything. They are my first and only headphones so it's hard to give an in depth analysis of why I like them.

Any recommendations?

>directivity = sound quality
wew

depending how you see the pic, it's the Ether 2 on the top right

fudge, they must sound like utter shit
I have never heard something with mids that slope upward that ever sounded good. And then it keeps sloping upwards up till 5khz. The sort of tonality that makes you wish you were deaf.

nah they sound pretty gud

I'm currently choosing between Sen HD6XX AKG K7XX and Fostex TR-X00 to complement my open planars.
I understand that Fotsex is the odd one in the trio being closed and twice more expensive.
Has anyone had any experience with these cans? How did they sound.
I'm most interested in the Fostex ones.

stop buying massdrop
but of those get 6xx

This is all you need to make lcd2 sound good.
Went from my least used headphone to all I use.
where my bass niggas at?

Attached: IMG_20190224_174447-01.jpg (1080x1920, 574K)

What's wrong with massdrop? I didn't know about it until a few weeks. Is the quality bad/no warranty?

They're $650 on ebay you should link that instead if you're gonna shill stax don't you think?

if its massdrop made shipping isnt too slow but otherwise expect 3 months. massdrop is just a shitty company with shit warranty and shit support that fucks over every other distributor

if you're going to get a TR-X00, get the ebony one

fostex is generally no mids insane bass insane treble if you like that

How are Senheiser 700s compared to 800s and 600s.
I heard that 700s are good for soundstage, but they are overpriced for the increase you are getting. Is that true?
