Because people who buys explosion-resistant thermal cameras will pay it.

it's an explosion protected thermal camera with a wide thermal rating being sold to consumers, it's such a speciality item that they're probably only going to make a few hundred at most so they don't get the benefits of economies of scale but do need to recoup development time and what I can only imagine is some expensive testing

how's it gonna see through that mesh, also why would u want explo proof cam, other camera will record till the point of explosion wouldn't that be enough

Is it like those new multi-colored real color thermals, or a regular grey/green one?

Probably a broken upsell bot which never bothered to remove the listing and also bid itself up.

How would you see the guys slowly walking away of the explosion while putting on sunglasses?

Jet fuel can't melt that.

>Explosion Protected

This is one of those meaningless phrases that can't be falsified unless they actually provide the blast energy rating in the specs along with a guarantee, which i doubt they do.

I like this explanation

>$70 shipping fee
jesus christ what a fucking shoah

Why???

small market

If the wires aren't too thick it shouldn't affect things greatly.

Because any technology that isn't manufactured by the million is expensive

you can see people naked in it

It's explosion protected in the sense that any spark or explosion happening inside the housing will not ignite the gases outside of the housing

The shipping weight is 64 pounds

It says that in the title, it's panoramic, probably gives peripheral vision. Standard bino types are literally that, a green bino, if someone slaps you from the side at night you can't see it

if that's the case it's even more speciality since the only people buying them will be the mining/oil industry and actual lives will be on the line

chemical manufacturing here, everything inside the plant is considered atex (explosion risk zone) so everything has to be atex certified, meaning its electrical innards has to be ultra safe and not cause an external spark in any failure mode. the certificate that comes with is why you pay so much.

ex.
a normal valve that costs 150 euros would cost about 10k euros because its atex certified, its the same valve, does the same thing except it doesnt blow up the installation if it fails and there are possible chemical gases around

>the certificate that comes with is why you pay so much.
yeah I can understand that, the liability companies/insurance would have to pay when somebody shows up with uncertified gear that causes an explosion/fire would be through the roof and if they're a mining/oil company or even a lab they're sat on millions they can spend for proper and safe equipment

yeah we had an instance where they ordered a 15k valve and it turned out it wasnt atex so instead of returning it they just chucked it in a corner somewhere, frivolous spending at its best lol
