Speakers

My trusty Altec Lansing speakers of more than a decade are about ready to bite the dust. What speakers do you use? Any favorites out there? Looking to weigh my options.

I love these things. I love them so much.

Headphones all the way

I got a good pair of cans for Christmas this year but sometimes I just wanna kick back and fill the room with sound, y'know?

>breaks into your house and sneaks up behind you while you're headphones drown out the reality around you
>you notice but the cord limits your movement to react sufficiently in time.
nothin personal, kid

best under $100: micca mb42x
you'll need an amp though

if you can call this chinkshit a good pair

I think they're pretty good, user.

I fell for the Mackie meme. They're not terrible, but you could probably do better for $100 (although I've seen them go lower).

this.
anyone buying pc speakers are brainlets.
the yamaha is 7800 yen.
pair it up with a tripath amp, you're good to go.

Loving my kef q100s, power then with a denon x1400 avr and just use toslink from my pc to the amp. The denon also makes a killer headphone amp.

Vanatoo Transparent Zeros and a slim yamaha subwoofer.

I'm thinking about going 3.1.2 though.

3.1.2?
do you mean 5.1? or actually 3.1 and two channel height layer
which makes no sense

Iloud Micro Monitors

3.1.2.
3 front/center
1 Sub
2 rear/high

It actually works well if you can set it up right. I just need to make the mounts from my desk hutch stick out over my chair and not look retarded.

so 5.1

Just works

No. 3.1.2.

For 3 months.

I like my HS7s

They sound great and are easy on the eyes, but they almost need a companion subwoofer.

of course they do, they're tiny and can't play below 60ish Hz

I got these to replace my M-Audio speakers that had a resistor burst into flames.
They're pretty good.

i'm enjoying these. clean and crispy, plenty of bass for the size (there's a bigger version too). my favourite feature is the low cut switch for late night shitposting. i'd love passive monitors with a nice amp but can't really justify it.

>wasting precious desk space for speakers when you could fill it with more monitors
Just use headphones user.

I plan on getting these (Adam T5V) and a Magni 3, using its pre-out to replace my Micca MB42s and SMSL MINI 5 combo amp.
Am I spending too much money?
>inb4 get an Atom
I have a Modi 3 and want the Schiit stack. Yes I'm retarded, I'm aware.

That's uh, not the image I selected
MOOOT

Had them almost 4 years now I think.

Did the image change for you to something that isn't even saved on your PC? Had that happen to me yesterday with a picture, blew my mind.

I have a Parasound integrated amp, a pair of ls50s and a pair of svs pb-2000 as well. Life is good.

Yep. I think this is just an old bug where someone else posted that image elsewhere on the board at the exact same time I posted mine, so that speaker image is probably in a watch thread.

Actually yeah, I found the other post (look at the post time and look at mine) but it's their image still. Hmm.

Why does everyone here hate the JBL lsr 305? Is it just the hiss? Do they sound cheap to you? Why?
By the way, my hearing is very sensitive and the hiss isn't all that bad, goes away when you're 3' away or so from the tweeters.
inb4 someone calls me a pajeet

Planning on buying a pair of these Kali Audio for music production, a lot of people are reviewing them as the "new best budget monitors".

Anyone here heard them or have them?

Nice watch though.

I found these used for like $50, they're a bit big for most desks tho

>only 60 Watt
I just picked a second hand set of pic related up for 25 EUR. Plenty of noise to piss off the neighbors.

Best 200-300 powered monitors?

Attached: 1549248234939.jpg (858x821, 359K)

200-300$*

This, but only because I live in a terraced house with a wall thickness of approximately 1 plank length.

I use HeSuVi to spatialise the sound a bit (it at least makes a better use of 5.1 sources than a dumb downmix, and it makes stereo music less fatiguing too). It works quite well (still doesn't sound like e.g. a binaural recording of actual speakers, but much better than just straight stereo).

I don't know what those watts even mean. How did you get them so cheap?

Also I have never even tried anything louder than 50% on them, I find it insane how such little speakers can be so loud.

>How did you get them so cheap?
Found them on local craiglist, but they are serving quite well in our FSAE studio. Plenty of noise indeed, anything over 30% and somebody in a neighboring classroom will come whining, especially if there's some trap or gabber on the playlist.

jbl lsr305.

teeny and veiled.

Thoughts on these (pic related)?

Got some for christmas. For a cheap-ish 2.0 set they have great bass and great audio clarity.

Can recommend.

Thanks man - they're at the top of my list for now

my headphones are wireless though

which ones do you have?

JBL 306P

These are great and aren't hard to find for $200. Probably the best speakers of that size.

Swans M10
