Based and staxpilled

Idol trash here. What's your setup like, user?
Probably merely NC.

Attached: 1543449826491.png (1920x1080, 1.59M)

That looks cheap as fuck. Just like Stax headphones and (((energizers))) do.

That was my first impression, but now I'm confused.

Attached: cable 2.jpg (1080x810, 1.49M)

Maybe it's NC *at the other end*.

I want some new headphones

- Over-ear
- 3.5mm jack
- Loud
- High quality audio
- Subdued/streamlined/simple appearance
- If they are bluetooth as well that's fine but wired is a requirement
- Budget around £100 but I'm flexible

I was walking home in the rain at night and took shelter in an audio supply store I hadn't ever seen before despite walking that way for years. it was open for some reason even though it was late. it was staffed by an elderly japanese man who spoke no english and made no attempts to.
he took me to the basement of the store where there were hundreds of anime waifus turned real. he indicated for me to begin having sex with them which I did for many hours, finishing inside every time.
I did all of this while wearing a pair of sr-007 earspeakers driven by a rare "green hawaii" driver, which has never been photographed and remains legendary to this day, and listening to brahms symphony no 3 conducted by leonard bernstein on loop.

looks like you want stax

a $150 new Stax? ok.

Stax

buystax

What's up with STAX?

Was unimpressed by their performance.

What does STAX even stand for?

audio quality

Stax is all marketing and no substance.

Stax?

stax has never marketed outside of putting up posters in tokyo two times lol, stax is literally the opposite of that

>STAX refers to all its headphones “EARSPEAKERS”; such Ultra-High Fidelity devices for reproducing music can only be compared with the best cost-no-object loudspeakers, not other headphones. The term ”EARSPEAKER” is, therefore, more descriptive of STAX’s contribution to today’s most advanced level of sonic transduction.
This is where the marketing comes in. This some of the most pretentious garbage I've ever read.

oh so you're upset they still use their same terminology from the 60s when they were literally the only good headphones you could buy and speakers were the only good comparison because headphones of the time were garbage

I guess I can see why you'd need to go that far to find a complaint. kind of a funny point to make user I guess I agree that is pretty funny that you would need to do that.

I need a smol mixer to connect my two D30s with O2. Is pic related any good? What should I look at when choosing a mixer?

superlux hd 668B. i liked them for the price but became uncomfortable after a while and couldn't stand them while wearing glasses though it may have been the fault of the glasses.

Hmm, sounds like you want stax I'd say.

But are you going to sniff my feet?

dunno about with glasses but look at the haafee hd1 on aliexpress. neutral with a downward tilt.

What are a good pair of headphones that aren't for monitoring/studio around 300 or less?

Answer my question and I shall answer yours

Sniff my feet first.

I bought a pair of Takstar 82 pro this past November. I'm still waiting for them. Had to reclaim my money back. I won't buy anything more than 5 dollars top on AE.

you can actually find them on amazon sometimes, here's one unit:

open back audio technicas, sony ma900, hd800, pad swapped stax, shp9500

weight = comfort, the lighter the headphone the more comfy it is

Mah bois.

HD 800 headband and earpads felt stiff though.

>shp9500
Is there a big difference between these and the 9500s?

That explains why STAX earspeakers are made from lightweight sonically permeable materials for the highest quality sound and most comfortable wear.

that's intentional and they break in over time, which is a good and bad thing.
no but the ma900 is the king of comfort and the prices of the shp9500 have made it not worth it. you can hunt an ma900 down on buyee

buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e342388564

They seem pretty boring to listen to to be honest

how's the koss vs audeze?

Philips SHP9500 or Audio-Technica ATH-M40x?

SHP9500 if you want open back and comfy. They sound amazing.

Oddly similar. The 950s have bass about as flat as the LCD-2, but it's down in level a bit. Treble region is a little more detailed on the LCD-2, but they're really not worlds apart. Basically from the mids on up their tonal balance is the same.

The LCD-2s have a bigger soundstage, but I think the 950s image better. Each instrument, while closer sounding, seems larger.

Overall, I think I lean a little more toward the 950. They're pretty forgiving, so you can put some shit quality music through them and it still sounds great.

gonna dump the lcd-2c for stax?

Worst OP in all hpg history

do they need a dac?

They don't need an external amp if that's what you mean. They are very easy to drive.

>oh so you're upset they still use their same terminology from the 60s when they were literally the only good headphones you could buy and speakers were the only good comparison because headphones of the time were garbage
Headphones of the time were garbage? Of the SR-3 vs HD 414 I know which I would listen to. One has bass, the other doesn't. One has wonky midrage, the other is perfectly flat in the mids. One is still supported by its manufacturer, and you can buy brand new earpads from the original manufacturer in 2019, the other is a forgotten product.
Sennheiser absolutely BTFO stax.

it's $500, you need to email them directly to get that price

[email protected]

they also sell on massdrop for $500

my akg k240 cable is broke. though i'd buy new pads and ear foam at the same time, but the total for those three items is 46 euro, new akg k240 costs 55. Should I just buy a new pair? the ones I have are 8 years old.

Buy a pair of sextetts instead

didn't know what that was but looking them up i have two things to say;
don't think i'm enough of an audiophile to get them
and
they seem like a hassle to get because they are from the 70s

oh and they're probably pretty expensive i'd guess just because they are special and vintage? thanks though! learnt something today

how are dt 770 80ohm compared to custom one pros. might get some in april

Why is fixing earphones so hard?
Got one with a broken 3.5m jack and after replacing the jack with a new one they dont work

Dont tell me you have to rewire the damn cotton strings together too

iems are for fags

Where can I get STAX serviced in the US?

Anyone know of an updated Jow Forums's guide to "Gaming Headsets" solution?

THe Tinyurls in it are dead or direct to SKU's that no longer exist on Amazon.

I'd very much like to McGuyver my HA-RX700 headphones.

you don't because it never breaks XDDD

i want to graduate from the headphones elementary school and start getting into loudspeakers as soon as possible.
is HD600 and ~$250 budget for a dac and amp okay?

I'm planning to bay some quality headphones in place of my apple ones but I'm quite confused after reading about all the characteristics.

Could you guys please give me some tips on what to look for when choosing?
I'm not talking about build quality or comfort - that I hopefully can judge by myself.
I was rather referring to sound characteristics. Now, I do understand that the ability to appreciate the finer details comes with experience but are there some basics?
Like, what constitutes a good clear sound?
How are different frequences, like voices, various instruments supposed to sound etc.

Maybe there are guides you could point me to?

What are these headphones like and what are you supposed to say to the suport?
Like "Pls sell me your headphones, sir, pls i beg you?".

So even if I'm a retard and don't know what underpowered headphones mean I should get a DAC regardless since i'm plugging them to my pc?

tell them you need it for your wife's son because he's been doing well in school

>gets btfo by facts
>posts epic anime reaction image
Retard.

Anyone?

holy fuck he's actually mad

>holy fuck he's actually mad
It appears that you're utterly blown the fuck out.

Did you forget to read the OP and watch both video links before trying to argue about audio?

cope

/hpg/ is stax gang territory

based

No headphone sounds good with wonky mids, that's a fact. Everyone who disputes target curves that are really preference curves are all about variations of bass and treble. Ergo the SR-3 was in fact a piece of shit and not the lone good headphone in a sea of shit. That would be the HD 414, the first actually good mass market headphone.

Depends on the listener

Attached: 1550265203839.jpg (2016x5717, 1.22M)

The mids measure roughly the same, but the hole in the upper mids is more pronounced in the 414. No doubt if the stax had not fallen victim to 50 years of dust it would sound better. Luckily stax quickly figured out how to make dustproof drivers and you can still buy decades old lambdas that work great. Absolutely based.

>2019
>worshipping target curves
Pffftthahahahahahaha
