Well we've literally had this exact thing since forever if you used a Japanese IME.
But if they're making this available for everyone even with no IME then I guess that's pretty cool.

Just install a Japanese IME. It's almost the exact same thing except you activate it with mod+space and then type "kaomoji" to see the list. You probably also get 100's more kaomoji that way too, and jap IME's are available for any OS.

Also, if you do, use Google's IME. It's the best.
