Just HOW botnet is it?
Should we assume it's giving browsing/tracking data to a ton of Chinese advertising/web3.0 companies?
And if so, what is that based on; any real evidence, or just the idea that if we don't know then we should assume the worst?

On mobile I'm torn between Brave and Opera.
Opera has the better layout and text reflow.
But Opera supposedly on blocks ads while Brave blocks ads AND TRACKERS. Also Brave is open source while Opera isn't.

Any browser that is not Tor/Firefox in Tor mode is giving your entire browsing history to Google and other trackers and advertisers thanks to fingerprinting and zombie cookies.

Chromium (and generally WebKit) was specifically made to not be able to protect against either.

I was using opera for last 3 years. Jow Forums memed me into using brave. Used for a couple of days went back to Opera.

the primary reason I don't use opera is that it often shows up bundled in with other software in the good ol 'uncheck this box to not install this bloatware' scheme.

this bundled-in shilling only started after it was bought by chinks.

i mistrust software like this as a rule.

I like it too. Taking a break from Firefox and switched completely to Opera.
The only two major things that bother me are the long start up time and that I can't disable the chronic.
Also the Opera Add-on store is far behind Firefox and chrome concerning the updates.
Although you can fix it by installing then via the Chome Webstore.

Then they don't update automatically.
The Opera team are pretty selective about what goes into the extensions page. They vet everything to make sure it doesn't contain coinminers and other shit that revs up your hardware/ requires sketchy permissions, Chrome store is filled with extensions like this. This is why things aren't updated that often.

Yeah I know, but I really don't use a lot of extensions and still, 3 out of 4 are out of date in the Opera store. I'm talking about major stuff like ublock origin, https everywhere and decentryaleyes.

Sucks about uBlock Origin. I'm not entirely sure, but I think that filter lists are added/updated no matter what version you have. Here are my lists in v1.17.0.
I personally don't care that much about the new features so I just stick with this version.
