Why don't you guys put this site in the OP? It's much more helpful than just plain text and provides most people with the info they need. It's not perfect, but pretty good.
Any Canadians know where I can buy original DT990 pads (EDT990V) for a reasonable price?
Not there yet but eventually I will be
I only shop at Stax
buy stax
Tuna
Redpill on STAX for newbies: STAX is an old Jap company with outdated tech that was considered high end back in the 1960s and 1970s but sounds like ass by today's standards, so they went nearly bankrupt. They were purchased by a Chinese company for just a million dollars who decided to market STAX to the audiophool "more expensive is better" demographic who buys those crappy $3000 vinyl players, they shill heavily on HeadFi and here on /hpg/, plus they pay Zeos to shill their crap just like Fostex does.
>In December 2011, Chinese loudspeaker manufacturer Edifier announced the acquisition of 100% equity in Stax
Oratory has measured the highest end STAX, the SR-009S.
dropbox.com
dropbox.com
It's worse than the HD600. HD600 scored 92 and SR-009S scored 76.
Recently Rtings rated STAX across various dimension, it's worse in terms of sound than mid-priced offerings from Hifiman and Audeze, and only got a 7.7 rating.
In a separate study:
>The very highest end STAX ($4000 SR-009) was rated lower in blind tests than a $200 K701

To add insult to overpriced injury, they have shitty plastic build quality that you would expect on cheap chinkshit headphones:
youtube.com
Oratory (respected sound engineer) on the build:
Even best Stax headphones sound objectively worse than mid-fi. This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure. In reality its no bass sounding garbage, with shrill highs that appeal only to near-deaf boomers.
we had that before and other stuff, this way is better
also that sites recs are retarded
>he's still posting this
Damn. The budget Stax measures like that!
10/10
They all do once they're sealed

At least four the twelve posters here own stax. Definitive proof that there are no edifier shills.

Why not listen to some music?

edifier's shill team is quite pathetic desu

Music is only good for setting ambient mood.
>AP15400
>manual wind

sos I'm not a huge watch nerd my shit's like 100 bucks
just seems like for that much you'd be able to hit the mainspring without wearing it
Ever wonder why there are almost no reviews of STAX out there?
I bet Edifier pays reviewers to NOT review them, it kills the mystique/sales pitch of STAX.
Are there any headphones that don't leak sound so much?
One of the main reasons I've stuck with in-ears is because they keep the sound from everyone else but me. I live with other people, and the last thing I need them to hear is me watching porn or anime.
stax 4070
pussy
My power level must remain hidden; you don't understand, user.
you’re not fooling anyone
I'm fooling everyone, so long as I keep using in-ears.
your body language betrays you
My body language is natural. I can keep myself composed.
the lady doth protest too much
The lady doesn't know my power level, because I keep it hidden.
Stax is the best hobbyist headphones consumers can buy
you should read more

I should hide my power level more, which I'm doing incredibly well.

Stop denying that I hide my power level well.

Whats the point of these threads when its 80% stax shitposting?
Could mods start banning people
Have you even heard STAX?
I could use some recommendations, ive been out of the game for a while.
>$150~
>Burger
>Fiio E10K for home / Xduoo X2 for portable
>Full size
>Closed
>Relatively comfy
>Prefer a strong, punchy low end
>ATH-M50s, M40Xs, JVC HARX700, Etymotic HF3
I loved my M50s for the ripe fidelity of them, but they were broken by my nigger brother and i bought a pair of M40s in a pinch.
They don't hit that sweet spot that the 50s do.
ath-msr7
They sound like shit
Wrong. I've actually tried them.
Yeah, they sound worse than shit
Nice shop. It's cute how you edit the date each time you repost.
Hmm.
Something a little bit more bass heavy with less fatiguing highs?
LCD-2c if it wasn't for your budget.
excuse me, what kind of nerd obsesses over fucking headphones?
Stax is hearing aid for seniors
necessity, not obsession
Since I have had mine for a while, I can say that they are a real pleasure, every day, every week, every month. I just don't get tired of them. I can use words like balanced, neutral, spacious, detailed, but those really don't distinguish them enough. They are all of that, but they are totally non-fatiguing. I can listen to them for hours on end, and still want to hear more.
Just a friendly reminder.
whats in the bowl, I want some. And Martin Logan’s and of course, Stax
STOP LIKING WHAT I CANT AFFORD!!!
Recently grabbed the HD6xx. I am really, really enjoying them. Listening to all sorts of genres and really feel like I'm listening to favorites for the first time.
Little downside, on my MacBook Pro 15 inch, the volume is a little low, and I have to basically blast them at full volume to get something I feel comfortable. Thinking of picking up an amp but I don't know if I should get just an amp, or pony up the big bucks and get some sort of DAC/AMP combo.
fake and gay
>he got the poor man's HD600
lmao
I'm new to the audiophile game. I just picked these up because my HD558s were just so worn out.
Wouldn't HD6XX be poor man's 650s though?
You need an amp. You might or might not benefit from a dac, but can't hurt to have a reference one that you know it's not fucked.
For amp, JDSLabs Atom.
For dac+amp, Topping DX3 (check aliexpress).
Both devices are, amp wise, absolutely overkill for HD6xx.
oh my it’s real
>Wouldn't HD6XX be poor man's 650s though?
Correct. And HD600 is generally considered better (both measurements and reviews), but they're very close to each other.
Should I get rid of these and pick up the HD600? I have the money. I just want a pair I won't need to replace for a couple years.
>Wouldn't HD6XX be poor man's 650s though?
They're the same though...
>amp
Emotiva A100
it'll blow you away
I'll look into it, thanks. Probably just get an amp for right now.
I would, but ultimately it's your call.
>I won't need to replace for a couple years
They're forever, man. They've been around for decades, and many people have had them for that long without replacing any piece but the earpads.
Regardless, it can be taken apart with just your hands, and all pieces are available for separate purchase, so you're covered.
How's the head clamping?
These HD6XX are really tight compared to my 558s. They almost hurt after an hour or two. I'm hoping they stretch out.
The clamping goes away in a week or two.
