cringe

not even a decade old, consumerist npc

Still is.

I make $160k/yr with an i5-3320m and a $30 120GB SSD

I don't know how that is relevant at all

You're not a boomer, faggot.

That's only because my retro XP build isn't finished yet.

Damn I miss that blower style they had on the 2900xt and early terascale cards.

>2500k is now twice as old as the Q6600 was when it came out
Kill me

I remember I bought the E8400 the day it was released, the build was cringey with 4gb of crucial ballistix tracers, an emermax 660w psu I modded with an led fan, gts960 and 4 wd 3200aaks in raid 0, all in an antec 900 case. Fucking cringe now but I was in my late teens and was probably the last time I had fun putting a computer together.

laughs in 8700k

Can someone explain what is so special about the 2500k

you mean the athlon XP 2500+

I miss the Turbo button of mystery

it's the thinkpad of processors

Overclocking

I'm still using one, I've never tried overclocking but I probably should

How far can you push it?

Pentium 4 slow as hell, you only like it for long pipe

No idea never done it, might try when the weather cools down

what cooler you running? air or liquid

Air

Cryorig H5 Universal CPU Cooler

I have one with an NH-D15. Was running at 4.6GHz for a few years. Then my motherboard died. Got a new one but could only push it to 4.4Ghz.

>mfw went from Q6600 to 2500k
>mfw still on 2500k
>mfw no where to go

I want off the ride

excuse me, faggot, you mean the athlon 64. pentium 4 was garbage shit.

>antec 900
that case was unironically:
>now "that" was a case
i had one and loved it and most people i knew wanted that case.

We migrated onto a raspberry pi cluster by this point

The airflow was fantastic until I realized dust existed. Thankfully it wasn't too bad.

Mfw the mobo sata port will probably die before 2500k

I still run my 2500k and the only reason I'm looking to replace it is because the motherboard keeps killing parts of itself, but it still works.

With early stepping chips at least, you could do 5GHz on air.

I went from a q6600 to a 2500k too, my first own computer (prebuilt) and my first build respectively. The jump in performance was great, I remember BF3 running like absolute trash on the q6600 but was a bliss when I upgraded.

Man, may Zen 2 save us from this stagnation.

One button to slow down your computer so it can run older software. I'm so glad that we don't need that button anymore.

Going from a Pentium III 1ghz to Pentium 4 3.06ghz

>not even an XP 3200+
Hello zoomer.

still running a 2500k at 4,6 GHz with fans fixed at 600 rpm, if more performance is needed I can push it to 4,9. Highest I ever saw with an air cooler was a 2600k@5,2 GHz.

You've got a Chinkpad, good for you.

Except for the fact that P4 ipc was so horribad compared to it's predecessors that it was nowhere near the triple performance everyone thought they were getting.

I7 920 is maximum boomer cpu
Had mine for 6 years before mobo shat out.
2008-2014

i7 2600k

still running my x3450 build

1366 was based and too good for this world
To think incel followed it up with dogshit 2011 and whatever horseshit 3647 is is absolute travesty not to mention ipc and manufacturing processes gains have been fuck all in the memelake era
Glad I went back to amd fuck these Intel garbage CPUs.
Also had a 4690 which was terrible

i feel you fren

The i7 950, now that is a CPU. Still using it to this day.

Alright the P4 memes end here. Yes, Prescott and Willamette were pieces of shit, but Northwood was actually good and was a significant improvement over a P3.

In any workload that is memory intensive, the P3 is absolutely fucked due to its 133 MHz FSB compared to the up to 800 MHz FSB on the P4. On memory bandwidth difference alone, the P4 can demolish the P3 in many games. Also the P3 has a shitty implementation of SSE. Anything that leans heavy on SSE, the P4 literally has double the performance per clock.

Those benchmarks showing the P3 matching the P4 2.0 GHz are all cherrypicked benches where memory bandwidth and SSE didn't matter, and they were up against a shitty Willamette with small cache and only 400 MHz FSB.

Prescott is a technically a lot faster than a P3 as well, it's just a piece of shit due to its molten lava thermals and the fact that it had much stronger competition from AMD than the Northwood had.

>4670k here
The usb3 sleepbug has been such a fucking nuisance to me since day 1. Asrock Z77e-itx mobo. I'll overhaul my build Xmas 2020.

>3647 is is absolute travesty
why?
