It's an ERP - business software. You can pretty much put all functions of a company into different SAP modules. Things like keeping track of inventory, production, invocing, sales etc. It's famous for being hard to use, slow and just straight up illogical. Like "enter the number 105 in this box so that you can enter 550 in this". But the upside is you can have a system that is customized for your business.

There's a good chance that your company will go bankrupt. One of local big pharmaceutical chains almost did after a consultancy company failed to ugprade their SAP and caused a massive outage. A big part of the issue was due to poor project planning and lack of proper recovery and rollback plans though.
