does using a large monitor (28" and up) mess up your eyesight?

No need for a bigger monitor because I'm like 40cm away from the screen.

27" 1:1 resolution. The monitor for the modern man.

ftfy

I've been using 24" monitors for a decade but I finally just got a 27" monitor. What a huge fucking improvement. I feel like a retard for waiting, or at least for using high resolutions on small screens.

1080p needs 22"
1440p needs 27"
4k needs 32"

Thank me later

>t. spends half their time scrolling the editor window while working because their wide-cuck monitor isn't conducive to productivity

Monitor size doesn't matter, only dpi

tempted to jump to the 1440p bandwagon and leave 1080p behind.

decisions, decisions.

32" 4k
Bought it myself, didn't even bother asking company

Might as well get 1440p Ultrawide.

Or you could go with 4k at 21.5" like I did. Resolution is pretty good

I have a 24" 4k. It's great but I really hate scaling.
1440p is the best decision you'll ever make.

49' 32:9, more vertical would be good, but there aren't 32:10's to my knowledge.

Just buy a 34" ultrawide 1440p if you're doing productivity. Anything 4k is super fuckin gay because of scaling. And 1080 is for plebs. If you can't aford a 34" ultrawide 1440p, well now you know what you are

32 inch. i wish i hat a 250hz 24 inch though

23-inch diagonal, 16:9 aspect, 96 DPI

You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like. Why 16:9 aspect? Because wider is better for multimedia AND multitasking. Why 96 DPI? Because 96 DPI is the standard display density for all versions of Windows using bitmap graphics since Windows 95 (and by extension, all desktop operating systems using bitmap graphics since they all emulate Windows to some degree). This is thanks to Microsoft engineers making the wise decision to have GDI report a resolution 33% larger than the assumed pixel density of 72 DPI way back in the 80s, in order to improve font quality and correct for the perceived size of elements in desktop publishing applications. As for the 23-inch diagonal, this size is not too large for a desk, and it also gives you the well supported display resolution of 1920x1080 at the desired aspect ratio and display density.

does using a 32 inch HDTV as a monitor make me a poorfag?

23.6'' 1440p

2x 22'' 16:10. Eventually I'll upgrade to a pair of 24'' 16:10 screens or maybe an ultrawide.

32" 4k.

My eyes hurt a bit immediately after I got it, but then I adjusted.

27" 1440p is nearly the same pixel density as 22" 1080p. Fuck that

23.8" 1080p ips, it's probably not the best but I like the colors so it works for me

I use a 1440p 144hz TN Panel. Looks fine and does what I want it to do. I used to use two 24inch 1080p panels but 1080p is getting pretty outdated.

(oops, monitor is 27inch)

32" 1440p

23" 1080p. I'm thinking about buying a 24" 1440p for my main, the low ppi compared to my laptop (which is ~270 ppi) is actually giving me aids. There's a significant difference in how text looks on the screen.

is 2 monitors the sweet spot for a multitasking battlestation? is 3 overkill?

Well, I use glasses now anyways.

Cost like $1700 back then too lel.

Dual 27in 1440p, one is 144hz and the other does 165hz. LOVE THEM. Also have a portrait 24in 1080p.

27 1440p. Want to get a new one with usb c. 4k still performs badly in most games even with a good card otherwise I would get that.

I have a 43" 4k TV as primary monitor and I wear glasses too
At least I can set any custom resolution and aspect ratio less than 2160p and I'm not accelerating my myopia at your rate

this but with pivot. 1:1 is nice, but it really shines when rotated and you have perfect 1:1 setup.

24" is the perfect monitor size.

1920x1200 24" is the patrician display. I run a pair of them, one horizontal, one vertical. It's a fantastic setup.

24" at home, 32" at work

no, 1440p at 24" is perfect

27" 144 hz 1080p IPS

cope anything more than 1080p at 24in is overkill, fuck scaling

Why are there no 1600p 27 inch 120/144hz monitors, that would be perfect

speak for youself, I'm at 100% 1440p at 24", looks perfectly fine

enjoy your eyesight while you have it

Reminder that myopia is induced by extended closeup focus that causes a cilia muscle spasm in your eyes. If left untreated, your cilia muscles will relax and return to their normal state while you sleep and relax, or use them for distance focus for extended periods.

If you try to "treat" it with glasses, you will just make it worse by forcing the focal point of your eyes closer, and never allowing the muscles to focus your vision further than that point.
Using glasses that give you 20/20 while looking at something up close will hyper accelerate your myopia degeneration.

The most you should ever wear up close is -1 diopter for close up like staring at a screen all day. Give your eyes muscles a chance to relax and try to focus on far away objects every hour or so. You can eventually recover your natural 20/20 vision over the course of 2-3 years.

very soulful

How far do you sit from it? I went for a 27" 1440p some time ago, but I have it sitting farther than most people, at little over 1 meter. Not only I can't tell any pixellation compared to the 27" 1080p I use at work (need to sit at just under arm's length to finally notice), but text became too small to be readable, and had to up the scaling to 125%, so I'm pretty much using it as a 1080p.
If otoh you're smashing your nose against the panel like then sure, you will definitely notice the upgrade.

how are you supposed to live 3 years without glasses, half-blind?

Use your weak glasses indoors, use your prescription glasses for driving.

I use an old CRT CCTV monitor but also nigger rigged an adapter so it's kinda like aVR setup but good feild of view for sims n shit

>does using a large monitor (28" and up) mess up your eyesight?
Isn't it the opposite? Using larger screen allows to sit at higher distance from screen, that way you don't have to force your eyes to close focus (well, don't have to force as much).

I sit like 1 meter away from my current 24" 1080p display

I use this set up at work, one screen for code, one for UI. Perfect.

That's what I use as a secondary monitor (had 2 in fact, but since one broke down I decided to go a bit larger for the main monitor).
Honestly the 1440p is serving me well right now, but if I could go back and buy again, I'd rather save money and grab a 1080p, or for the same money get an higher quality panel (old monitor is a Dell U2417H, new is a Viewsonic VG2719 - both IPS, I can definitely tell the Viewsonic lags behind somewhat on color reproduction, especially red tones).

>don't use anything except from an old AOC monitor because I can't get anything else to look just right
>don't use anything aside from crappy Logitech satellites cause I can't get anything else to sound just right

I've been thinking about getting a 27" 1080p 120hz monitor for gaming.

I have a 24 inch 1200p and a 27 inch 1440p. Would love to get a second 27"1440p but with more hurtz for gaymen

Don't really give a damn for high refresh rates, but if you have the monitor set up that far I'd say it's just about perfect.

I was considering a 32" 1440p but I'm afraid it will be too much since it would sit at a normal desk distance (about 0.6m) from me.

Thing is, it's the cheapest 1440p monitor out there atm

Attached: Capture.png (1460x564, 278K)

Try to find a store close to you that has those sizes on display, best way to make sure is to try it for yourself.

I have two 16:10 24in monitors.
been thinking about grabbing a 3rd, or maybe one of those 30in 16:10

22" 1680x1080 16:10 Dell TN monitor. I like the aspect ratio but I'm looking forward to upgrading to a bigger and higher resolution monitor one day. Would love to run my black terminal windows an AMOLED monitor

>Weak glasses
Wtf you mean? I can't read the monitor of in not closer than 1/3 meters, the only way is using my prescription glasses.
Weak glasses, what is that?

>using a tv as a pc monitor
>samsung no less
enjoy that eye-raping PWM, son

Been using 27'' 1440p since 2012 and upgraded to 32'' 1440p in 2017. Next purchase will be probably 55'' 4k TV, but that will be for movies and games, not for work.

>all these retarded 16:9 niggers
disgusting

>does using a large monitor (28" and up) mess up your eyesight?
As long as it doesn't use PWM dimming, no.

16:9 fags have so much more vairety in price and feature, it makes perfect sense to be one.
16:10 fags have 3 options: old and cheap, cheap and suspect, and a 10x jump in price from the old and cheap.

That monitor is really cheap, I bought two for my association and they work great.
75hz and even freesync. I will probably try to test the gsync compatibility soon.
I got them for 200€ each.

I'm using 32'' 1440p on a normal desk and it's pretty good. No problems whatsoever. It fills my field of view nicely without being too big.

>16:10 fags have 3 options: old and cheap, cheap and suspect, and a 10x jump in price from the old and cheap.
actually the only 16:10 monitors available are high end enterprise models. i would know since i own one of them. cheap manufacturers like acer, aoc and benq cant afford to make 16:10 monitors

Attached: u2415-design-large.jpg (3840x2160, 2.04M)

you can still buy old dell 1920x1200 for like 100 dollars, easily.
if you want a reliable 2560x1600 monitor, you can find Dell 3007WFP for like 350-400, and the rest are at like 1100+

not a great market.

>old dell 1920x1200 for like 100 dollars
well yeah i bought my u2415 for 150

You're really retarded.
People have died because of that pseudoscientific "theory" which was proven wrong like a century ago.

What's so great about 1920x1200?

See them going pretty cheap on Ebay all the time

why are 1900x1200 24" monitors almost the same price as 1440p ones?

I used 30lb 13" CRTs until like, 2000.

Then a 75lb 21" CRT until 2005.

27-28" 20lb "HDTV" until 2010.

48" 30lb "HDTV" until 2014

47" 6lb LED until 2016.

Now 3, 3lb 27" LED.

Multiple, smaller screens seems to work best, so far overall. But you need a fucking huge desk or $500 in mounting hardware.

I use a 43" 4k at about 2.5-3 feet.

It's been good for the last year, can't complain.

17" 1280x1024. I got it for free, so i can't complain.

this thread is a fingerprinting software's wet dream.

literally how and why?

A bunch of dynamic IP addresses posting about their monitors, of which a good 20%+ are probably just straight up lying.

Wow, amazing data /s

>why are 1900x1200 24" monitors almost the same price as 1440p ones?
where are you seeing 1440p monitors for $100-150?

Theres no point in going from 24" 1080p to 24"4k. You'd have to use windows scaling as everything on your screen would be too small. Windows scaling also sucks, look into how scaling works on your monitor, it'll make things lose their sharpness, look more blurry when you try to scale into a non-native smaller resolution.

42.5", 4k native no scaling.
