Like it or loathe it, THIS is where productivity peaked
Like it or loathe it, THIS is where productivity peaked
objectively false, stop posting
i thought it was 2010
Post CD1
do people who use vim are actually productive or they just like to brag that they remember all the keybindings?
>>do people who use vim are actually productive
Learn English Patel.
For the longest time it was the only productivity software I'd use. There is objectively no difference between Word 97 and any other word processor made afterwards, if anything all others detract from the entire point that is productivity, Wordpad under XP is not bad also.
sorry sir i just woke up
Only keybindings you need are basic vi
close but not quite
Ooh look another boomer-thread
How to open newer edition docx files ????
From 2007 and onward files docx files ???
Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack 2007
Works with 97 and can open docx
this seems like artificial way of stopping you from using 97 since there is no need to change the document formats
>productive
>features multiple games embedded into the program as easter eggs
Try again, GOAT Office was 2003.
>our system of upgraded software involves making trivial changes to save formats and nothing else
This world deserves what it's going to get.
I have LibreOffice if I need to download and open an office file from the internet. (Can I not open office docs in browsers too?)
But an old MSOffice like 97 or 2000 is nice to have if you only have basic needs. I only keep a few basic spreadsheets and I only ever type basic letters etc. Excel 2000 and Word 2000 are perfectly adequate for that, not to mention very comfy.
Where do I get it
Where do I get it
>Have Office 2007 key
>can't find a home version iso in my language
abandonware websites and the internet archive have lots of versions available for your downloading pleasure.
I just downloaded Office 2003 a few days ago, 16yo software and it still rocks. Also light as fuck
It's certainly where UI design peaked. All software released after Office 97 has been increasingly cutesy and condescending.
i liked 2007 best
My dad bought it in 1999. I still have the CDs.
>Being this much of a boomer
It's time for you to kill yourself boomer faggot
>*blocks your productivity*
95 was peak Office.
can you install the sidebar?
2007 version is the last good version. Pretty much everything started going downhill in 2007.
Sometimes I feel like clippy was the only one who ever cared.
Those bedroom eyes.
When was the ribbon introduced? That's when it went downhill.
>Insert Mode (I), Go back (Esc), Command (:)
>write (w), quit (q), force (!)
wow sure that was difficult, how inintuitive, I only use that and dd to delete a line, feels natural to me.
Now emacs.. that's an autistic editor.
I wouldn't say that. In 2007, the future was still bright. It was in 2012 that it all went to shit. Although you could very well say that 2007 did sow the seeds of destruction.
1111-1111111
>shilling for ribbon
fuck off and die
>can't open multiple powerpoint presentations in multiple windows at once
Dropped
>Clippy
Absolutely false if you do anything more complex than middle school homework. Just look up Data analysis from excel 2013 and newer
>ribbon
What is that?
>ribbon
? I like the user interface in the 2007 because save is save and it's close enough to 2003 office
office xp and 2003 were good too
i don’t think 2007 was worse but the upset was harder to cope with than vista/x64
en.m.wikipedia.org
Got the zoomzooms
Oh look, it's like Libreofiice but horribly outdated garbage.
>en.m.wikipedia.org
Found the fucking phoneposter
>en.m.wikipedia.org
Says a mobile user
LOL that is your problem with 2007? Did you know you can remove it and change it?
>.m.
>phoneposter
>zoomzooms (wtf)
How old are you, 12?
I guess you dont use excel or access then.
I think it peaked with Office 2010. It can do docx, has the Ribbon UI (helps me find stuff quicker) but comes without much of the telemetry and bloat that were included with later versions of Office. Plus it runs perfectly under WINE.
>2007 was almost 15 years ago
>1980 was nearly 45 years ago
Also has OneDrive integration
Cloud bullshit, botnets and even aesthetic aspects aside, Office keeps getting better and better. Modern Excel is a work of art.
if you just can't get used to ribbon and prefer sticking to toolbars, you are technologically a lost cause
It's about customisability. On 97 I could pull out buttons I used often and have them in a toolbar. I could also hide buttons I didn't need. Ribbon doesn't allow for this so for me 97 is objectively faster. You fucking zoomer.
>objectively faster
this, why do so many ignore that detail
because zoomers are fucking dumb
they don't have brains
>not using Office 97's spiritual successor
>he achieved his peak productivity while using a shitty wysiwyg text editor
imagine being this useless
Productivity peaked just before they introduced Publisher and Powerpoint.
>Ribbon doesn't allow for this
*corrupts your file*
literally never happened to me
must be a problem on your end
ribbon is faggot and ribbon users and defenders are massive gay faggots
*pushes you aside*
*baits*
>Excel 97
>Ctrl+A
>*tries to select an infinite number of cells and crashes*
>Search (/)
>Search and replace (%s/search/replace/g)
>Insert after character (a) [necessary at the end of line because vi does not like arrow keys in insert mode)
>Save as (w )
Office Assistants are GOAT.
Kill yourselves faggots.
you must be the same faggot who hates on cortana
Still better than the europoors who are incorrectly taught english in school
Example: "thats how it looks like"
>[doing the needful intensifies]
kek it took me a while
t. bydlo
Ribbons are superior to toolbars whether you like it or not
I don't have the newest version of office. I guess they finally added customizability. Thanks for enlightening me.
>Ribbons are superior to toolbars
*the Zoomer hipster barista hath spoken*
Cpu/Ram usage of Windows/Office over time prove it ;)
Part2
Still below Moore's law
>2GB to edit a Word document
the absolute state of being at computers
*sip*
Nothing is stopping you from using an older version for more basic tasks
those look more like minimum recommended specs than actual usage
