first for onions

I have a device that needs a 12V/1.5A input from a barrel plug. I also have a laptop charger with the exact same compatible barrel plug connector, but the rated output is 16V/4.5A. Can I use the 16V charger with the 12V device?

But that's retarded, there has to be a microsoft-made explanation of how their fucking product they're selling you works?

What's the likelihood of there being another Nvidia Shield TV hardware revision but with passive cooling?

ms is shit when it comes to documentation

What's the best alternative to DowntThemAll right now?

How do I go about making a website to stream animu to watch with friends

cute

Okay senpaitachi I desperately need to know if installing windows on a HDD with an allocation unit size (ie block size) of 64KB instead of the default 4KB used has ANY effect on day to day performance at all. I've been contemplating this for weeks now and I'm not really sure I understand this malarchy.

Is there a search engine that will allow me to do the following:

>Save different lists of websites not to be included in web searches
>Choose which list, if any, to use for inclusion in a search
>Conversely choose only to search/get results from websites in another set of lists

So that I could refine searches by typing something like "[whatever]:excludeThisShit1.file" and only get results from outside the sites listed there, and then some other formatting or whatever to only get results from the sites in some list.

hahaha faggot

What are some cheap quality-of-life increases for your workstation/battlestation?

Things such as amzn.com/B07D48GDZ4

A question so stupid I asked it in the old thread:

I just did a fresh install of windows and firefox. I installed greasemonkey and I got the Jow Forums X and OneeChan scripts. I tried changing the theme and mascot of the OneeChan script, but it seems to reset the config or something almost immediately. Sometimes it stays for a few pages and other times it will instantly go back to default once I open a thread.

The settings button disappeared couple times and once there was two that seemed to pull up the same thing.

Is there a setting on firefox that may be blocking the settings to save?

What's the problem? I'm looking for one with auto renaming file feature.

Why is it when I run the command

ffmpeg -i file.ts -c copy file.mkv

the output .mkv file ended up smaller than the original .ts? I just copied it all over into an .mkv container, right? So no data should be lost, If anything it should be slightly larger right?.

What gives?

>ms is shit

I need a free DNS changer app for Android. What do you guys use?

can anyone help me with some android development stuff?

I want my app to get the MediaMetaData (song title/artist/album) of the currently playing audio

I can see this info being printed to logcat under updateMediaMetadata, so I'm trying to extract that info somehow

Right now I'm trying to save my logcat data to a file on the phone (i can make a regex to only write lines that include 'MediaMetaData')

Im not seeing any mediaMetaData lines printed to my file though, I'm using the command "logcat *:V -d" which should set the output to 'Verbose' .

Any other ideas on how to get this data differently? Or advice on continuing with logcat? I know this is a super specific problem and Im gonna ask on stackoverflow

People buy anything. But you might as well just pirate via OP.

Selling it for AUD$80 seems reasonable right?

does pc go on desk or on the floor?

No. Higher voltage will do damage

whichever is more convenient

Whichever one is biggest desu

He's gonna get raped

Desk because of less dust

What's a good, free alternative to github?
What's a good RSS reader that I can use with icecat 60?

And most importantly: What can I use to replace Vimperator? Having to use the mouse for browsing is a pain.

Did it maybe reencode it? I'm not sure if mkv supports mpeg2 streams, so it might have converted it to h264.

gitlab

Nonfree pig disgusting

Should I be seriously concerned about this new Intel Spoiler vulnerability? I should be somewhat concerned, obviously, but I don't know if I should just disable Javascript as much as possible and avoid any sketchy websites or go full panic mode and buy a different processor immediately. I've gotten advice from a Jow Forums user to just disable Javascript already, but I wouldn't mind hearing a few more opinions.

What? It's open source.

I tried to import my repos from GitHub and get pic related error. It doesn't even say what went wrong, or how to fix it. 0/10 fucking dropped. I'll just stick to local backups and self-hosted repos.

Open source only guarantees you software freedom #1. It does not guarantee freedoms 0, 2 and 3. It turns the societal, ethical issue of software freedom into a technological one, disregarding the injustice that is proprietary software. Open source is a means for companies to subjugate their users while pretending to not be doing this very same thing. It is hypocrisy in its purest form. I will not stand for it.

I have a Lenovo g50-80 Touch laptop and the battery isn't getting a charge past 60%. It says plugged in but not charging. Isn't time to get a battery or should I just let the battery die and charge it up?

how much did it cost new at launch?
or what WOULD it have cost?

emachines or compaq
pentium D 925 3Ghz
4GB DDR2 (2x2GB) [6400] RAM
120GB SSD
2TB HDD
generic intel mobo
inhouse cases
DVD R-RW
Win 7 Pro

Probably never since I don't think they sold very well.

Making a plex server would be a much better option since it would recode video's that the device in question wouldn't be able to play.

Not really enough to worry about it.
The only thing you might notice is that if you have a 1 KB file in a 64 KB block it's going to waste 63 KB of of that block.
Compare that to the 3 KB wasted when you have 4 KB blocks.
On the upside it has less blocks to read so when you have a lot of >=64KB files on your harddrive it will be much more efficient when reading them since it has less blocks to scan.

I hope this makes sense for you user.

>Selling it for AUD$80 seems reasonable right?
I wouldn't pay 20 bucks for that.
Buying a new 120 GB ssd is about 15 euro and 4 GB of ram is about 20.
Fixing the screen would cost about 80 bucks that for sure.

I have mine on the floor

Sometimes the sensor that regulates the battery percentage is a little confused. You need to let the battery drain as much as possible and then let it charge again.
This should reset the sensor for the battery.

I want to say around 800 since SSD's were hella expensive back then.

>pentium D 925
The SSD would have been hella expensive and completely shit, 2TB would be thousands of dollars if you could even get your hands on one, and windows 7 didn't exist yet.

yeah not everything came out at the same time.
maunfacturers still made systems with the older cpu when these others came out. often an XP or Vista machine would be bundled with a win 7 disc sometime after win 7 launched.

What do I need for Samsung dex capabilities, just a usb c dock? Or is there some proprietary bullshit

Time to take out my shitty laptop Old Yeller style, and I need a new one. I don't see the links in the OP working so, any tips or guides on how to pick a good laptop? Because years ago I picked one for my brother and it turned out to be damn cheap quality-wise. It'd be nice to get a laptop useful for both college and entertainment purposes.

Does Jow Forums tried this or any other productive apps?
Worth it?

Guess I'll sell the parts separately then

Thinkpad

How worried should I be?

I wanted to use this to store movies and tv shows, in fact I'm moving them there right now.

PANIC
But seriously don't use a harddrive that already has reallocated sectors and 25K hours of runtime for important stuff.

The thing is also loudy.
I'll just put movies I haven't seen yet there, save favourites on the WD and get a new 4TB HDD.

Yeah it might be on it's way out, don't save anything you're not willing to lose on it just to be safe.

Moving my linux system from HDD to SDD, on the internet I found two methods, one using dd and other using Clonezilla, which one you recommend? I have plenty of space (I'm using only 50Gb on my HDD and my SSD have 240Gb).

Should I REALLY reinstall the OS on the new disk? I'm afraid of losing a lot of configurations that I already have.

Clonezilla has a nice GUI for things like that, worth trying in case you aren't familiar enough with dd.
There isn't much you can do wrong though, since it won't ruin the original harddrive.

My b450 red light comes on for a couple of seconds during POST but the system has worked perfectly for the 6+ months I've had it.
Is it a hardware issue or do certain boards do this on startup?

Clonezilla doesn't correct alignment between HDD and SSD. It's not foss, but Macrium reflect is pretty good. And no, there's no reason you would need to do a reinstall.

I'm at a new place, just set up a network
I'm going to install kali and take off my wifi password protection.
What are some fun things I can do to intruders?

Does my diode is ok? because it's too hot when I touched it but both of them is both 1 amp.

Do I need to cease internet connection during windows 7 installation and activation with
daz loader
? Or it doesn't matter?

I left it unplugged when I used it last time just in case so it could do it's thing.

It doesn't matter. Also

Spoilers don't work here.

No, how would would copying the video stream and audio stream convert it in any way? I thought that was the point of the codec copy function.

Okay, thanks.
I rarely post on Jow Forums, didn't know about it. I actually don't see this detail in sticky.

>I rarely post on Jow Forums, didn't know about it. I actually don't see this detail in sticky.
I forget about it a lot of the time as well and I come here often.

>I actually don't see this detail in sticky.
You mean code or the daz thing? Code is mentioned in the rules under Jow Forums, with daz there's no reason to mention a negative. It does suggest running it before installing updates, but that's multiple restarts away. Just having your internet on doesn't interfere with jack.

Is this grinding for exp in real life?

I'm downloading some copyrighted PDFs.
The original file is like a "truly digital" textbook, made on computer and saved as PDF. Text is clear, very light file (900 KB). From metadata I can see it was generated with Ghostscript and FPDF, PDF version 1.7.
Now the pirated version for the same file is 80 MB, pages are just a image, like a scanned book. Like they printed the original, digital PDF to paper and scanned it. Image is a bit blurry, like a compressed, lossy JPG. All metadata removed, PDF version 1.4.
I know I can run OCR to make the text searchable, but file is still very heavy and of low quality.
Funny enough, Adobe Acrobat has an option to "Reduce PDF size" but it ALWAYS creates a larger file than the original.
Suggestions? Thanks.

Anyone interested in Optical Discs, we got a thread up over at Jow Forums

I mean spoilers that don't work here is not mentioned in sticky, only the code thing.

See if there is an epub version instead, those are usually pretty small if it's all text and it's like a properly ocr'd pdf.

What is the name of the book ?
I can have a look if I can find a better copy of it if you want.

Installed an SSD and sometimes when I turn off my computer it turns off after a second, then it turns on again but the screen stays black so I have to restart it by force to make it work
also on the intel splash screen at the beginning it shows some spinning circles loading before booting the OS, before the SSD it didn't have that load time
what could that be?

when I turn on my computer*

If it turns off when you turn it on does it show a bios screen when it boots up ?
Try powercycling the computer to see if that helps it, otherwise you might need to check the psu if it's going bad.
A bad psu can easily damage other components in your computer.

Jow Forums i have an +10 year old hitachi hdd that has extremely long spin up time. Its maybe not as bad as smart raw value shows, but it does take up to 10 sec to spin up, and works fine afterwards (provided i turn off all power saving options for it). Is there a way of fixing this without spending more on the procedure than on a new disk? I don't want to throw my ol' buddy away

i forgot to post smart data, raw in hex and dec.

It's time to replace it I think, 10 years is pretty old and it can die without warning.

Is the banking system the ultimate botnet?

there is no escape, it's useless to try. we have to accept it Jow Forums

there are always some eyes watching, if not google, the banks

Attached: theultimatebotnet.jpg (1280x842, 276K)

i dont mind it , i hold only non important data on it. and it works allright, just minus the fucking spinup time.

Best music player for windows that's not foobar?

Do I just need to wait for this to suddenly get better in a new update or is there something I can do?

i have 2 Toshiba Satellite laptops with dual AMD and Intel graphics adapters.

I cant install the standard AMD Software because it wont find a device to install.

On one laptop i can install the Satellite drivers from Toshiba and this installs but the Catalyst Control Centre contanstly crashes and cant be opened.

On the other device, the Graphics card doesnt even show in the Device Manager.

Is there some way to force a driver install on them?

Nowdays almost everyone uses banks to put in their savings and to make transactions.
All your money are being hold by some companies, some very powerful companies (I'm NOT an expert on this subject so this may be incorrect, however this is my point of view) who can easily manipulate entire STATES. And are getting more and more powerful with loans and debts.
And we, indirectly, help their growth.

Also if they keep our money, they can see every our transaction and in a way 'control' us.

what do you think?

Is it possible to do RAID zero like in pic related?

Attached: Untitled.png (911x340, 21K)

You could probably trick a software controller into doing it, but it would be dumb as hell.

I've got a beaglebone black, but I don't have a screen for it. I sometimes connect it to my TV via HDMI, but using it like that is a little uncomfortable.
Is it possible to connect it to my laptop via USB, and use it as input (laptop keyboard)/output(laptop screen) temporarily for the beaglebone? Sorry if the question is dumb, I know jackshit about electronics.

That just means more points for failure honeslty

Literally all it would do is make your setup slower and more unreliable.

How do you disable the red standby light on Samsung TVs or even disable standby mode entirely?

i just use electrical tape

Will I be able to use a big 1440p monitor with a GTX 1050Ti if I don't play games? Watching videos, browsing, etc. I won't have any performance problems, right?

Watching video's and such isn't intensive enough to case slowdowns or other problems.

Thank you very much.

I guess I fucked up somewhere. I manage to clone my /sda1 to /sdb1 but then I remember that I read somewhere that I had to generate a new UUID, so I did that.

But now when I try to select the /dev/sdb1 the grub seems to redirect me to /dev/sda1, the original. I tried to grub-upgrade on sda1 but it didn't work. I managed to mount /dev/sdb1 on my /sda1 so it seems to be working, but I guess it might be a conflict when it tries to boot, can be this, or what?

I tried to google some answer but couldn't find about this type of conflict, I don't even know what is called.

Propylene glycol or just regular Distilled water for liquid cooling?

Attached: kerb.jpg (640x631, 25K)

wondering if there's any neural network photoshopping websites like faceapp but based in a browser. i tried emulating faceapp and couldnt get it working. so at this point ive resorted to asking for a browser version photo editer, but if theres a program that can race/hair/gender/all that other cool crap/etc change than sweet. the faceapp websites a bust too.

Pretty sure the normal thing is to use a mixture of distilled water and propylene glycol. It's mostly to prevent corrosion and build-ups.

Wouldn't I need to use some ph inhibitors since propylene glycol oxides on contact with oxygen

any reason to not go for a premixed solution? They aren't that expensive and you can be sure it has what it needs and is mixed correctly.

What if we just hold all our cash at home?

Are there open source banks?
