I used to use only Samsung phones (S2, S5, S8) because I was baited by the specs meme and the 'you pay for the name' meme and then after using an iPhone XS for fifteen minutes I already preferred it to my old phone to an insane degree, my family all got S10's on release this week and I was thinking they would be good because I was unfairly comparing my XS to an outdated model, so I played around with my brothers and it felt so fucking shit, it has poor UI, so much botnet jewry to try and dodge and the cameras were bad too (although the wide lens was nice), I could bypass my Mum's facial recognition lock with a fucking picture on my phone, the fingerprint sensor was unreliable and this is five months after the XS came out and I already feel like it was the best purchase I ever made.
So tell me, why the fuck would anyone buy an Android phone?

The only actual valid reasons I can think is being able to customise largely without rooting/jailbreaking and for raw storage with the upgradability of a micro SD because you don't want to pay the monthly for large iCloud storage.

I agree with this 100%, but Android is no better. I was playing around with my friends LG G6 and opening the top control panel was a pain in the ass. And Chrome puts the "New Tab" button on top. Which is almost impossible to reach one handed.

Multitasking, notifications, and customization come to mind. For God's sake, you can't even arrange the home screen the way you want. I'm pretty high up in a call center so I have to carry two phones, one business (XS Max) and one personal (Note 9). You're right that there is no absolute that Apple isn't collecting data just like with VPN services, however they do advertise it to such a degree that if it was leaked that they were it would be a company destroying move.
I actually have had no issue with the home and app switching gesture controls and prefer them, but the reachability one is absolute shit and the backswipe only works 9/10 times.

iOS waiting for the app opening animation to finish before actually running the app is a problem that needs to be solved, very true, however this webm doesn't take into account how well iOS manages previously opened apps. Initial boot time isn't as valuable as being able to go back quickly, not to mention the battery drain on Android when you leave apps open. Not having to autistically close every app I was done using was very nice.
I used the split view on my S8 a total of one time because the screen wasn't big enough to really make use of it.
