just 2tb of spinning rust
why on earth do you need over 8tb of storage?

Attached: Screenshot_1.png (533x71, 3K)

I have 250gb ssd and 1tb hdd in my pc, I hotswap the bad boys in pic related whenever I need em. They total to around 4tb

Attached: IMG_20190310_094543408.jpg (4160x3120, 2.69M)

In theory 7.99 EB. I use Opendrive cloud which is literally unlimited storage and MEGA for an additional 8TB for speed.

>Had to fill out 28 captchas to post this
Ok this ends now

i'm maxing out my 10tb raid1 nas with bluray remux rips and considering upgrading to raid6 with 5 10tb drives if just 10 drives weren't so expensive...

pirating shit eats storage really fast

CHECKED

240GB + 1TB SSDs
2x3TB HDD
15TB RAID-6 NAS (7x3TB)
+120GB, 240GB SSDs & 2x2TB HDDs in other machines and fuckloads of older SATA&IDE drives, memory sticks and cf/sd cards ranging from 128MB to 64GB.
Also hundreds of recordable optical discs from CD to bluray, like 200 floppies, dozens of EEPROMs and a handful of ZIP and LS-120 disks.

Attached: 1.png (267x186, 7K)

nice sexts, you need 6tb total

c and e are nvme, d is a regular ssd and g is a hd

Attached: screenshot.png (954x144, 8K)

maybe if I add my micro sd collection

Those of you like me just storing movies, games, photos and shit and nothing illegal, why don't you just use cloud storage? I use MEGA so if for example I want to show a friend a movie I just send him a link and he can watch it instantly.

mr badass over here

why not just run a nas server with a couple of drives in raid 1 for redundancy? you can build one pretty cheap

Because "cloud storage" is just marketing speak for "somebody else's computer". I'd prefer to keep it on my own hardware where it's nobody else's business and serve what I want to serve over my fiber connection.
I do data recovery and archival. My setup is small time.

torrenting fills it up fast, i got 600gbit fiber

get pass bro

mbit*

Hopefully it doesn't die. I have no backups.... yikes.

doesn't seagate have massive reliability problems with their 8tb drives?

I had one of their shingled recording drives thinking it would be good to store movies and other things I'd only need to write once.
I was already regretting my decision four days into the copy.

.... don't tell me this now... I looked at the backblaze stats and they looked fine: backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-stats-for-2018/

is that one of those hybrid drives?

No it's just a big ass 8TB drive, and a 60GB SSD for the OS.

why are those 14 tb niggers so expensive

JAV takes a shit ton of space doesn't it op?

300GB HDD (250GB Win7, 50GB Mageia Linux (getting rid of that soon))
300GB External HDD connected by USB 2.0 (Data)
I'm currently running Arch from.a 32GB USB flash drive, but I'm planning to.move that over to the 50GB partition on my HDD

it sure does

Super

This is what I have.

It's split between my desktop and OdroidXU4 server.

And I recently got rid of a 120 and a 250 GB disks that were giving me bad blocks.

did.. did you make an excel spreadsheet for this thread?

>6.4TB total
Why don't you just buy 2 8TB drives and put them in a raid1? I don't get this meme of having a bunch of tiny drives of different capacity. Is this just the drives you had lying around, or did you go out and specifically buy this setup?

>spanish
is that all of dragon ball and naruto you have?

Hell no, I had this file because I had even more disks before and was keeping track on what each one was used on and how I planned to split them. There are more columns to the right.

>Is this just the drives you had lying around, or did you go out and specifically buy this setup?
These are all old drives I had, most salvaged from broken laptops.
It's free storage! Why should I go out and spend money on shit I already have lying around? I've got no reason to throw them away.

Because electricity, heat, and redundancy of data. I also have a bunch of old drives too, but no way would I trust them with any data whatsoever no matter how replaceable or unimportant.

How many Ethiopians have a computer. two?

I have a 512 ssd in my computer and that's it. I've just never needed more because I don't tend to keep stuff for long.

I swallowed the HEVC anime pill and sidegraded or upgraded what I currently had.

Saved 100GB on One Piece alone, among other things.
Smaller files + larger drives seems like the perfect combo.

1 x 1TB HDD (OS / Extra partition)
1 x 128 GB SSD (Alternative OS, but there's been virtually no difference between HDD/SSD in OS performance if you ignore the initial restart of the system, 20 seconds for SSD, 1 minute for HDD)
1 x 2 TB HDD (split into two partition for downloads/software)
1 x 3 TB HDD for Games
1 x 5 TB HDD for anime/movies/music/manga/books

I'm thinking about getting another 10 TB HDD when it becomes close to $100.

Would you recommend re-ripping and re-encoding my x264 stuff to x265? Is it worth it?

I just check existing releases and draw my own comparisons.
My personal sidegrade status is usually very similar quality at a lower size, upgrade status is perhaps multi-audio or a res bump at a ballpark similar size.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to encode shit myself so I can't help you there.

Only for anime/cartoons. Also re-encode the audios in any of your videos to libopus 96k (stereo) or ~160K (for 5.1 surrounds).

But only do the anime/cartoon re-encode if you don't really care for highest quality ever, but rather for decent sized quality without jarring artifacts you see like in the past. You can get 1080p down to ~200MB with decent quality. I do mine at 720p with 120MB~150MB. It werks fine. You can get stuff like Simpsons/FamilyGuy down to ~100MB per episode for a very decent quality. Same with anime.

oh OK. I've been ripping and encoding Blu-ray rips for years now so 99% of my shit is in x264. My server has 22TB so saving up to 100GB in a series would be great.

>gig

>Ntfs
>Not even raid
Do you go to Vegas?

yea I want quality. Most of my episodes are 450-600MB per 1080p.

500gb+3TB+4TB

On my school laptop, 500gb SSD.

On my home laptop, 2TB HDD and a 256gb ssd. I also have a backup laptop with a 1TB HDD so if i didn’t have so much redundancy it’d be a little less than 4TB worth of total storage

I did the same when I was this young. Then I migrated to Linux, them to RAID1 - and just about time, WD30EARS/X started dying one after another, nearly lost 3TB of movies, but dd can do miracles. Now rocking 12 TB RAID6 and soon will be expanding to 20 TB. Just you wait till he'll lose one of these HDDs.

You'll find the answer if you test out the encode on your own, whether the file size of 450-600 MB per episode is worth it over a file size of 200MB.

Also chances are you have a FLAC audio for these high quality rips, so they may or may not be worth it. Usually I find out these FLACs are ~100 MB for each episodes, such a file size seems waste to me. Opus encoding down to 96k reduces that to ~10-15mb or so.

Also there's the 8 bit vs 10 bit color banding. You might want to re-encode to 10bit for that as well.

söy naming scheme my man

Come fai a riempire 24TB?

ah jeeze I never even thought of the audio size.

I've got 1TB hhd. Enough, if you don't download porn

>Enough, if you don't download porn
my on and off porn folder is like 600GB alone

768GB ssd
6TB hdd

620GB SSD (120+500)
6TB HDD (3x2TB)
I kind of want more HDD space but it's hard to justify spending money on dead-end tech.

16TB in my R410s and 1TB in desktop.

I am using about 2tb total. I got the drives in the servers for free basically when I bought the servers.

2 x 2TB drive (raid 1) in my NAS, 500GB SSD in my windows pc, 500GB shitty HDD in my Linux pc (probably buying an SSD for it soon).

Store everything important on the NAS, so storage needs are low
