Does anyone else hate the fact that Nvidia does whatever the fuck they want because AMD is so incompetent in the GPU market?
They're fucking over customers as hard as they possibly can, they're
lazy as fuck, and all because they know that there's no alternative

Imagine purposefully cutting out 2 gigs of VRAM just so you can keep people down

>Hurr durr it's AMD's fault
Every time.

It's 70% Nvidia's fault and 30% AMD's fault
Seriously, it's the equivalent of a grown man wrestling with a 8 years old kid. Nvidia is holding back so much, only because they don't want AMD to die and the Gubmint to accuse them of monopolization.
I hope AMD manages to sucker punch them like they did with Ryzen to Intel, but frankly I don't see it happening.

I still saw NO good game that needs more than 4-6GB. Even absolutely fucking broken DXMD only needs 5, and I play it on my 1063 with comfort. What's your problem?
>hurr GPU is not for muh gayumz
Fuck off of my board then

Retards buy nvidia shit even when AMD makes better products

>AMD makes better products

t. intel shill fresh in from the shitting street

Yeah. The market is absolute shit. To hell with both of them, I'll just use my old computer until one of them puts out something that's worth the upgrade

Attached: 1550271381104.jpg (811x1024, 223K)

This isn't /v/ you fucking illiterate troglodyte.

It's not happening they pulled the plug on Vega when it was half way out the door only to scramble and fuck it up fire raja and then lose him to Intel + releasing the Vega 7nm as a buggy throttling over volted underclocked dumpster fire (should be capable of 2ghz+ easy but their horrendous binning firmware and drivers strangled the card)
And before that Hawaii xt was a clusterfuck fury was even worse.

Nice b8
Nvidia wins over AMD every single time these past 10 or so years, maybe sometime amd will break this losing streak in the next 2-3 years

youtube.com/watch?v=H0L3OTZ13Os
this is 100% correct. but i would make it 60% nvidia, 20% amd, and 20% retarded consumers for buying nvidia ~~when~~ amd was better or 100% equal.

Radeon 9800pro, now THAT was a good graphics card.

I love my 2080ti

>Imagine purposefully cutting out 2 gigs of VRAM just so you can keep people down
i don't know why nvidia doesn't do what they did back during the 8000 series days where they had two versions of the 8800gts. one with 320mb of vram, and another with 640mb. with the 640mb version simply costing more.
not all of us are top 1% of retards like yourself staying on 1080p. a lot of us moved up to 1440 and 4k.
>adoredtv
but a good video nevertheless. really informative about how much of a jew nvidia has been. the 2008-2009 mobile gpu fisaco part of the video was absolute shitshow from nvidia with KNOWING about before hand their mobile gpu's had a bad defect but shipped them out anyways because it was cheaper handling rma's. yeah cause they knew the top 1% of retards like would have never bother to send them in for rma anyways.

these are all just actions designed to chage people more for more premium products.

Nvidia has a solid patent locked-in advantage going back to 2005 or so. Logically it will be 2025 before everything drops clear. Not so far away.

>Imagine purposefully cutting out 2 gigs of VRAM just so you can keep people down
The reason the 1070 has 8GB of VRAM is because it was GDDR5 and it needed 256bit, 8X1GB chips to achieve enough memory bandwidth. The 1660Ti uses much faster GDDR6 and has more bandwidth with just a 192bit configuration.

There you go brainlet now you can stop with the reactionary bullshit

if you are over the age of 18 you would know that for a long time amd / ati was better or equal to nvidia 100% and people still bought jewvideo. like fermi with the 400 series vs the hd 5000 series. the fx series vs the 9000 series. nvidia still sold more fx cards back then than ati did with the 9000 series even though the 9000 series took a massive pile of steaming vile shit all over it. used less power, produced far less heat, and performed faster. nvidia didn't even have a top dog against it. yet sold more fx 5800 ultras than ati did 9800's.

does it use the same arch as the rtx sans tensor cores?

I have this. Still works great but I'm looking to upgrade.
Is the Vega 56 a decent enough bump?

Attached: sapphire 290.jpg (1000x999, 105K)

I found a new 56 for 290 eurodollars and am very happy with it. I thought I was getting scammed because it was some shitty site for a local shop, but it turned out legitimate
That said, I wouldn't pay 400 for it

The 1660ti?
Yeah. It's Turing with dedicated FP16 in place of the Tensor cores.

Attached: Nvidia-RTX-and-GTX-Turing-SM.jpg (1920x1080, 160K)

Yeah.
Either Vega 56 or RTX 2060 would be good upgrades.

cool

Attached: mmm.png (175x132, 50K)

Thanks guys. Guess I'll be grabbing the 56 if I can find it for 300 yuros or less.
Not getting an NVIDIA card since I have a freesync monitor. Also their GPU's are ridiculously overpriced.

RENT FREE

Enjoy ads in the installer and telemetry

I'm mad at them for trying to push ray tracing instead of just making a faster card.

If your freesync monitor has a displayport it works fine with nvidia, just use variable refresh rate.

Also, the vega 56 beats the 2060 ever so slightly in gaming, and by a decent chunk in productivity.
So, if you find a 2060 cheaper than the cheapest 56 I suggest you buy it, otherwise not.

ask yourself: why do you even need an expensive gpu with RTX scam? you are fooled by the marketing, Pascals or even 580 are still great for any gaming at high setting

Attached: 812X698709GUcPM.jpg (1242x657, 66K)

One more thing
If you can find an XFX RX590 fatboy for 220-240 euros it's a great deal too
It's up to you to decide then

Attached: 4gi3iD4[1].jpg (299x224, 14K)

Going from a 290 to a 590 is not a big upgrade though. The 590 is maybe 15% faster at most.

you're retarded if you think all a gpu is used for is gaming

It's not a significant upgrade but it's not 15% either, on most benchmarks sites it sits between 25 and 35%
Not to mention the extra 4 gigs of vram makes it a bit more "future proof"
Also the fatboy is quality, IF you can find it on the cheap it's very much worth it

No

Went from a 390X to a 56 a couple months ago, was £300 new and it came with 3 games (RE2, DMC5 and The Division 2). Been a great buy, far quieter than my 390X and about 65% faster, sold the 390X for £140 too.

But for 60 bucks more I can get a much larger performance boost with the vega 56.

implying you brainwashed zoomers even heard of quadro or Instinct

pissed at amd? no
amd was better from the 4000-200 gpu series, and was on par with the lineup for the 300, amd went in at the 400 and 500 giveing a solid jump in performance for the low end, and then in the 1070 to 1080 price range was as good if not better

Yet every single time amd does good, no one buys amd. at this point I don't care, I have a backlog of games and I can buy used gpus and not care going back to the first pcie gpus and still play what I want to play, but in all honesty, I would just switch over to integrated if it came to that.

You fuckers bought nvidia for god knows the fucking reason, you live with the brutal assfucking.

No, I hope you gaymerfags get assfucked more and more until your gaping assholes start accumulating dark matter

This. I needed a new, 4k capable GPU and had a budget of $700. My choices were either a 2080, or a Radeon VII.

The 2080 runs cooler, consumes less power, has meme tech like DLSS and RTX. The VII runs hotter, consumes more power, but comes with 16GB of fast as fuck HBM VRAM compared to the 2080's fucking anemic 8GB.

I chose the VII. Jow Forums will mock me endlessly for this decision, while at the same time bitching about Nvidia's pricing. Bunch of fucking idiots.

why's this image feel pedophilic?

remember to undervolt, many amds gpus get within range if not better thermals then nvidia when you do it right

I use two 2080TI's for 3D Rendering my man.

Who's ready for Nvidia next-gen 7nm GPU microarchitecture?

You're retarded if you think people here talk about professional GPUs

My theory is Turing is just a bad stopgap until 7nm Nvidia chips are available.
Then we well get another jump like Pascal was to Maxwell.

AMD is incompetent on purpose because they're trying to be the inferior goods provider. Navi will be subpar because it's designed to be.

Me and my coworkers are being paid to go to the conference

((((professional))) GPUs is a scam

Undervolting the VII yields some extremely impressive power consumption numbers given shit is still clocked way, waaay too high just to get the performance AMD needs. My own VII goes from 1064mv stock down to 970mv on the stock fan profile and Tjunction never breaks 100c - most of the time it hovers around 93c. Overlcocking wise? Eh rough as fuck using wattman but with afterburner having full support I can get over 1900mhz (i'm still trying to find its exact breaking point) but my particular silicon does NOT like hitting 110c junction.

I might watercool it when zen2 drops as i've always wanted a custom loop and it would be a fun project and I feel this card has over 2ghz in it if it can be cooled.

i need a good card to excede 1080p for around 4 years
is RTX a meme? 2060 is okay for that?

V56.

2060 is a great 1080p card and yes RTX is a meme right now for several reasons.

t. 2080 owner who hasn’t even used RTX

nice try AMD shill

Attached: relative-performance_1920-1080.png (500x1010, 52K)

thanks, guess i'll pick it up

56 costs less though

Stop lying, faggot

Pooga56 is not cheaper

Don't get a 590, it's a mess

Why does the 1070 get better then with higher screen res?

I approve this post.

Attached: old man huang.jpg (475x324, 23K)

>Not getting an NVIDIA card since I have a freesync monitor.
Didn't nVidia just recently start including support for Freesync monitors?

COPE
Only $10 more for 3 fantastic games (versus a single shit game from Nvidia). Also, that ASUS Vega 56 is a triple fan model, not a shitty blowerjob model.

Attached: nvidia cope.jpg (892x252, 59K)

Yes but fuck NVIDIA and their overpriced memetracing cards.
I'm not paying 700+ bucks for outdated tech either.

Because you dont know what a pedophile is. Chick is clearly a teenager.

LOOOOOL CRY MOAR FAGGOT
Must suck being too poor to buy RTX

youtube.com/watch?v=4u0NRgMyzEM

I fucking hate Nvidia. I was just about to finally upgrade my GTX 970 for the 1660 Ti. After checking some benchmarks and reading reviews, it still doesn't seem worth it. It really seems like a completely unreasonable waste of money. About 300$ for maybe 50% more FPS.

When AMD made a better card people waited and got a worse Nvidia one instead. The mindshare of "Nvidia is for games" is more active for most people than looking up benchmarks.

>it costs more because it's better than last generation
Many people don't know they're being fucked.

People that don't like being dicked over and have somewhat of an alternative will take the alternative, aka AMD even if it's worse.

Attached: vlcsnap-error308.png (1280x720, 681K)

The 2060 is nearly twice as fast as the 970 for $20 more MSRP. Not amazing 4 years later but it's not awful either

only thing keeping me from buy an 2080 or 2080ti is the fact that I hate RTX. Fucking cancer tech taking up 50% of my die. KYS Nvidia just give me more performance and not useless meme tech cancer that is 5 years too early.
I dont want to buy a card and know that 50% of it is just sitting idle and that I paid for that crap.

>it is just sitting idle and that I paid for that crap
your mother probably thinks the same about your ass after raising you

>only thing keeping me from buy an 2080
Then just go buy a VII.

>upgrade my GTX 970 for the 1660 Ti
not really much of an upgrade mate sorry. You will be better off just overclocking that 970 to the max and then hold out.
the 2060 is the only logical upgrade from the 970. However then you will have to shallow now being a mid tier 60 series faggot and have useless tech galore on your stupid RTX card. Everyone was hoping for 2070RTX performance cards without any fucking RTX. Instead we get 1060+ performance because Nvidia wants us to adopt their stupid meme shit.

solid comment user :^)
yeah looked at the VII. However cant really buy it where I am at. When they finally gets in stock here ill see if the price is not bloated.

Reminder that Vega 7's frequency is reported incorrectly.
Also due to binning, some can't under-volt at all.
You cannot use under-volting alone to justify buying any Vega product.

>You cannot use under-volting alone to justify buying any Vega product.
No but you cannot use 2080 performance for 2080 as a justification.

ATI was always OEM garbage. They eventually figured out how to make good hardware only to be let down by OEM garbage drivers, and now the hardware is also shit.

Not my fault you fuckers let 3DFX die.

Also at this point we're so beyond the old "3d accelerator" market that I'm kind of okay paying twice as much for the graphics card as I do the CPU. That shit is pretty much a second self-contained computer plugged into the PCI slot of another computer.

I never mentioned the 2080.
I think Turing is just a shit stop gap until 7nm Nvidia chips are available.
But I think Vega 7 is also a shit stop gap because AMD has basically shit all when it comes to GPUs.
I just want something to replace my Aging 7970s and 290x in my mining rigs.
Too much to ask?

Pls sir buy Radeon VII for workload and good gaming gfx thx

I do, but I also hate AMD for not providing competition.
One of my GPU's died last year just before the RTX series and I needed to replace it rather than wait the two years between product launches.
So I picked up a 1070 Ti for a really decent price.

Only now I have a problem where I have exactly two cards I can switch to, the RTX 2080 and Ti, both of which aren't worth it for the price/performance increase. The one non-RTX card they've released so far is a downgrade for me. So what can I take from it? Nvidia don't want me to spend money on their products right now. I'm stuck in a position where I'm forced to just wait it out until they wisen up and offer a card that's both worth it for me and isn't containing meme tech.

Right now, I'm better off using my money to by an AOI bracket for my GPU's and just waiting 2 years.

>not all of us are top 1% of retards like yourself staying on 1080p. a lot of us moved up to 1440 and 4k.
>tfw moved up to 1440/165
>tfw shoulda moved to 1080/240
GPU market just isn't moving fast enough at the moment, it's over once the 240~ 1440p displays are out.

the current nvidia 2000 series costs more because its a fuckhuge die. regardless of competition or not, these are fuck huge dies.

is it worth buying the fuck huge die for? no

1660Ti was meant to be a Polaris killer and fight off against Navi. It is designed to be cheap and easy to produce en mass.

Wait for navi

VIDEO TDR ERROR
Anyone else having issues with this shit?

>Does anyone else hate the fact that Nvidia does whatever the fuck they want because AMD is so incompetent in the GPU market?
I don't give a fuck what a company does, when their products don't fit my needs.
does it bother you that bp spills oil in the ocean every fucking year and gets it covered via paying up jewrnalists and goberments?
no.
so, why would it bother me about novidia?
novidia barely runs on linux.

>pajeetpowerup

Nvidia hasn't been hit with anti-comp lawsuits like Intel, so they have every opportunity to step on AyyMD's neck and not cede an inch.

Intel will eventually get out of the rut and smash AyyMD to the ground like they always do.
