>scilicon valley >"did you know you can make 300 k per year to be at google. All you have to do is say you hate white men." >rent in san fran and cali code zones are $7000 per month >the traffic is so thick they are creating facilities for your familiy to come live on the google campus >google a censored. bing duckduckgo and yahoo all draw from google results >yandex a Russian site has better search results than google >google promotes go langauge >all of their code is locked away in their code vaults like .net used to be. >they don't conrtibute back >are actively trying to make an alternative to linux kernel that is closed >make chromebooks >uses linux under the hood. added android to it which by the way is their other closed linux. Now they are adding a debian shell to their gentoo system with android on it. 3 linux kernels choking on the same processor >applel now puts a chip in every mac to try to prevent you from installing linux. Utter shitfuckery >uses freebsd, the open source linux os >doesn't contribute back to the project. Hoards their code >is responsible for the spyphone which by the way is designed to shatter easily >facebook >needs no introduction >is literally hitler
>Seattle Washington >marijuana is legal >rent is high but not stupid high >hundreds of software companies in the area >all there because of Microsoft >microsoft learned their lesson from windows. >open sourced c# and .net >slowly encouraging excel-lets to start using linux >slowly adding unix utilities into the windows stack with bash for windows >we are actually secretly using windows 11. Windows 10 is now rolling release. >windows 12 will probably go full unix-clone >open sourcing one component of the operating system at a time >satiya nadella is the current best steve jobs replacement >Is actively trying to compete with good code instead of corporate bullshit.
var freebsd=2; var NeXT=function(){ return freebsd ; } ;
Connor Gutierrez
I live in Washington and I am 24 years old. Two blocks from me is a marijuana store. I can go and buy marijuana and bring to my house and smoke it. They also sell bongs, vapes, and pot brownies. Programming companies in this area do not drug test. You know why.
Adrian Edwards
Rent in Silicon Valley is $2500 a month. Why do poorfags always exaggerate everything?
Wyatt Fisher
>>is literally hitler There were worse people alive even turning that time. Hitler is a saint next to them.
Eli Howard
>Is Seattle the next silicon valley? I dunno, but I like grunge so I could see myself in Seattle.
Hunter Bell
I've always considered Seattle an extension of the "valley" because the "valley" merely represents western USA.
Austin Thomas
Fuck, I thought mining boom Perth was bad.
Landon Fisher
tech has literally ruined seattle and sucked out all the character
Colton Ramirez
>10% of your income spent on rent is bad
Lucas Thomas
>with good code >winblows 10 oh my
Henry Sanchez
>just Microsoft What about Amazon? also, Google have a campus in Kent and some big buildings in SLU and Fremont, same with Facebook and Twitter.
Luis Perry
you are very correct, especially now that everything between sf and seattle are getting built up.
Aiden Perry
>Programming companies in this area do not drug test. You know why. They do if you're working with or for Uncle Sam. The big ones in particular will pay you significantly more if you're capable of obtaining a clearance which potheads aren't.
Angel Hall
Just get clearance and continue
Leo Smith
>Is Seattle the next silicon valley? Yes, now stop moving to Austin.
Lincoln White
Why do you try to turn minorities working hard and getting into successful positions into white hate? There's plenty in Seattle tech companies as well. Also I'm slightly left leaning but Seattle seems overly left even for me. As for the next silicon valley, it's either nyc or Tysons corner Virginia
Brody Collins
They literally only exist in the US because of H-1B visa fraud and abuse. Amazon is scaling way back on hiring poos and chinks as new immigration laws come into effect.
Robert Turner
>10% of your income >implying Not everyone is a millionaire. I heard san fran and silicon valley has one of the worst homeless problems in the world.
Xavier Stewart
Seattle hates everything, that's why it made grunge.
Caleb Barnes
Tysons Corner is a soulless place. Similar to Seattle's East Side (Bellevue + Redmond). Seattle proper is not too bad though.
Aaron Sanders
Silicon Valley has virtually no homeless people. It's 95% white and asian.
Cooper Lee
I've literally never heard of a programming company test for drugs. I've worked for defense contractors and never gotten tested. If they asked me to piss in a cup to work at a company I'd just decline the job and I don't even smoke. It's just fucking weird.
Matthew Cox
>Silicon Valley has virtually no homeless people It does, they just live in San Fran user. Hence San Fran's issues. I live in Perth where we have a similar situation (though commodity boom, not tech) and we have very rich people and lots of homeless that come with it. This is the problem with cities specialising in sectors, the workers in other industries struggle to live in the same environment (cost of living) that the booming sector lives in.
Gavin Cook
Damn it feels good to be a gangster
Ayden Jenkins
I've lived in Silicon Valley for 3 years and have not once seen a homeless person. Why should I give a shit what happens in San Francisco?
Joshua Roberts
>Why should I give a shit what happens in San Francisco? Because guess where all the people, that can't afford to live in silicon valley, end up? San Fran.
Juan Ross
And?
Isaac Howard
I've been saying this for months now. Moved here a year ago from LITERALLY WHERE and I can tell this is where all the San Francisco companies and talent will move soon. It's relatively cheap, the infrastructure is here, we already have amazing tech companies and talent (e.g. Microsoft & Amazon), the diversity is similar, et cetera. I'll be buying a house probably in the next year or two and I can't wait to see the value sky rocket when the flood gates open.
Hunter Rivera
>It's their problem now, I don't need to care about it This is the mindset problem with both the booming industry in my area and your area. You're not understanding how capital works, your not understanding how your booming industry impacts the living standards of those not lucky enough to be in your specific industry. Eventually, what goes around comes around and soon it will impact your boom economy when you find your taxes increases in order to deal with the "homeless problem" in your region. This is what causes the boom bust economy.
Aaron Wood
There aren't any homeless people in my region.
Austin Morris
San Fran is your region. Where does it get it's money from user? The clouds?
Isaiah Adams
No it's not. My region is Santa Clara County.
Nathaniel Sullivan
>I've worked for defense contractors and never gotten tested. With or without a clearance? Generally if you're working for as a contractor for those sorts of companies that require a S/TS clearance of some sort you usually have to pass a drug test.
Angel Bailey
all the poors live in the East Bay, stop talking out of your anus
Luis Wood
There's a massive low-cost region just an hour bus ride inland.
Aiden Green
What's stopping those same people from going to school and gaining those skills to work there? Give me a break.
Jaxon Bailey
S, never TS. They never gave me one.
Daniel Diaz
Bezos is richer than Gates now, and not even by a little bit ($136b vs. $96b)
Levi Turner
He lives near Seattle too right?
Ryder Davis
Traffic in and out of Seattle is literally worse than anything in Cali
>this level of denial You know how hard it is for the lowest class of people to find work outside of the big city? Unless there is an industry there able to take them in, they won't find work. So while it seems like there is opportunity in other nearby areas, the fact is that it is not feasible to their situation.
They can't overcome that barrier of entry without some large corporation providing those lower class people a position.
Nicholas Watson
>wah give us jobs we aren't qualified for wah Why do people like you not understand that tech companies are not charities? Just like that dumb bitch AOC doesn't understand, if you're not qualified and don't have the skills to work there they're not gonna hire you. Again, if they want those jobs then go to fucking school and get a degree. All this whining and complaining is ridiculous.
Robert Bailey
>Why do people like you not understand that tech companies are not charities Exactly why they should be concerned about economic threats than charities. The economy revolves around supplying people remember. If they aren't being supplies, you're essentially waiting for an economic disaster to happen.
>Just like that dumb bitch AOC doesn't understand, if you're not qualified and don't have the skills to work there they're not gonna hire you Again, it's not that simply. Having people on the street is eventually going to impact the demand for your product. You're not in a mutually exclusive environment.
John Fisher
That's 10x above my budget
Carter Baker
And their income is 100x your budget.
Adrian Harris
degrees don't matter
Kayden Taylor
>Google promotes go language
I don't understand this one. Go is the only thing to come out of Google that wasn't an overengineered bloated mess. If you don't like go it's clear you're a brainlet that hasn't been programming long enough to realize that the things go excels at are exactly the things you want in a language to be productive.
Also my money's on Austin Texas as the next SV. There's no income taxes there.
Gavin Hughes
>You know how hard it is for the lowest class of people to find work outside of the big city?
Not fucking very hard. Have you looked at the unemployment rate recently? Central California has plenty of agricultural, industrial, and warehouse jobs; those are all suitable for unskilled labor.
Ethan Foster
>satya >good code MY FUCKING SIDES The code quality at m$ is the worst it's EVER been. The reason they opensource shit is actually so they can legally copy-paste code from so/open-source projects without getting lawsuits. The only reason people like satya is because he lets people use macs at work whereas they used to have to use wangblows, no joke. Nobody at micro$oft likes any of the micro$oft products and they all actively avoid them.
Owen Richardson
Right now Bezos is wealthier, but he is going through a divorce and has no prenup.
David Ortiz
I agree about Austin. It's just like California now. Won't take long before the Californians turn it to shit, but we got a good 10-15 years of low tax, good food, good music with hot body conscious women everywhere coming up.
It sounds crazy, but West Loop Chicago is looking great for tech of late. Sure it's high tax, hopelessly corrupt and cold here but it's actually a real city unlike SV or Austin.
Mason Morales
I worked and lived in Austin, my sense is that it's a mirage where the job market is brutal with incompetent management and engineers, low pay, and leftover projects from the c-suite. Basically they want mid-level engineers but they pay you entry-level while treating you like intern trash. I was glad to leave that God-forsaken city.
Daniel Green
No they don't you're literally ignoring the ones that are citizens or permanent resident. People FROM here. You can't sum up every single H1B as a fraud either. Some people are truly qualified but you'd never admit it.
It's up and coming still but it'll get better. The area is extremely fuckin wealthy. What did you personally find soulless about it?
