Use google images to search something

>use google images to search something
>file is clearly a JPEG in the url
>go to save it
>it saves as a webp
>right click and save as "jpeg"
>computer still makes it a webp

can we fucking just ban this shitty file type.

ITT iToddler can't natively open a new file type

>says webp is shitty
>wants jpeg instead
It sounds like you're either on OSX or Windows XP.

>itoddler
Windows 10, issue happens when posting to places like Jow Forums.

Webp is objectively Garbage.

let's also ban webm, FUCK web formats.
retard.

BAN ANIME

>google images
>anno domini

what a fucking shit filetype, it happens in yandex too

>saving Google's thumbnails
can some really be this retarded

Shift+Insert and make a screenshot.
It's mostly not even bigger than your screen.

>saving png of a jpeg
that's fucking retarded

No, fuck you. Fast loading times are better for servers and the user. Tell gookmoot to stop being a DOUBLE NIGGET and fucking support webp already.

Windows 10 is worse than being an iToddler. iToddlers may have stuff that overheats and blows up, but they don't have to put up with updates that destroy drivers, randomly having shit deleted, and come to think of it, I've never heard of an iToddler having to reinstall their OS.

t. itoddler

WebP is unironically a retarded format.
It should have just stuck to being a nice replacement for JPEG, and just been an efficient lossy format, that happened to have alpha channels.
Why do you need animation in an image format? Why not leave that to video?
Why do you need lossy AND lossless in a single file type? Why not split them up (or leave that to PNG)?

It wanted to replace ALL image files, but it's an unnecessarily bloated format with feature creep.
I'm hoping the AVIF format stays relatively focused, and doesn't try to be the EVERYTHING format.

t. gnutoddler

Unironically this. If hiroshimoot had any brains 4channel would support HEVC/HEIF only

>file is clearly a JPEG in the url
URL is really meaningless when it comes to the type of a file. You need to check the MIME type of the HTTP response. Just because a URL ends in ".jpeg" doesn't mean you're getting a JPEG image.

>She thinks that someone will resave a picture a 175 times

Attached: IMG_2273.jpg (1000x432, 68K)

using google

>on technology board
>people don't know about http headers
nigga you can literally just remove webp from accept header and you'll be served jpg instead

175 humans could save the image 175 times.

>I made this picture I just posted

>hasnt been on the internet

>they think images are get recompressed each time they are distributed over internet
Imagine being this illiterate

So, you really are new to the internet?

Use Yandex, it has more hardcore porn.

>use google images to search something
Foubd your problem

Christ you are dumb.

OpenBSD can handle this file type flawlessly. You should make the switch.

Can confirm. Pound for pound I get more GILF scat videos via Yandex. Putin is based.

>he doesn't recompress his jpegs

Attached: laughing_girls3.jpg (446x400, 15K)

FUCK webp. AAAAAAAH

Attached: generation-loss.webm (960x540, 2.95M)

it looks pretty artsy

We've been through this. Yes, lossy WebP (or any other lossy image format for that matter) will have worse generation losses than an inherently lossless format that gets lossily optimized by its encoder, but it's 2019 so stop posting these outdated comparisons.
That being said a comparison between near lossless WebP and lossy FLIF would be interesting.

Attached: 1551347734963.png (1920x1025, 1.73M)

>or leave that to PNG
Because lossless WebP offers a far better compression than PNG in many cases. I agree though that it should've been its own format.
>I'm hoping the AVIF format stays relatively focused, and doesn't try to be the EVERYTHING format.
It already combines lossy and lossless encoding (as every other video intra compression based image format), but at least it uses the same approach for them unlike WebP.

all of those are trash, just use png

Works great on my Arch Linux desu baka senpai.

How do you retards even manage to do that.
Using Firefox and the latest version of Windows 10 and I can't get jpgs to save as webp even if I wanted to

>I've never heard of an iToddler having to reinstall their OS
They probably don't know that you can.

Chrome does it.

But I thought Google isn't evil???????? How could this be?????

>WebP

Attached: webpiss.png (1920x1080, 1.72M)

>a 20kb compressed image looks better than a 2kb compressed image

HOLY PENIS WHAT A SCOOP

Firefox can disable webpiss. Never going to happen on Jewgle, you're screwed. Personally I just use the imgur rehoster, it automatically saves it in the proper original format.

>not writing your own chrome extension to convert webp to png on the fly in-browser so when you save it exports png not webp
LOL

meanwhile BPG actually retained colour, and is way less blurry, despite being only slightly bigger

That's beside the point. The WebP is only so small because old libwebp versions introduced horrific generation loss.
