i tried installing debian earlier on my old prebuilt and got stuck on grub. i've only used ubuntu and centos in a vm so i have no idea how to actually install the os

o be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Linux. Linux is extremely difficult, and without a solid grasp of theoretical computer science and a solid grasp of the command line most of the advantages will go over a typical viewer's head.

Just install MX linux instead.

If you got no clue about installing Linux, use a distro with a graphic installer like Ubuntu, Fedora and Manjaro.
If you got more difficulties ask in /fglt/ next time.

debian has a graphic installer

i cant find any answers to my problem on my favorite search engine so i doubt they'll know either

you think you want linux but what you really want is a stable relationship with a female and a social life

get a job

I'm sorry user, debian is quite easy to install. Try again and do some research before you do it.

I was wondering why that lady took her clothes off since server rooms are typically cold but then I noticed this, holy shit I can almost feel the heat just from looking at this picture.

>lady

Easy my ass.
I had to manually download a wifi driver, mount a usb (via command line) to continue the installation.

trying again wont solve anything

im switching to fedora

Please do not be transphobic.

>debian
I laff

don't install deebieen, it sucks retard, install arch like god intended.

install gentoo

i used etcher to burn my ISO's

and followed this guide so i can install debian using wifi
debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch06s04.html.en

It is easy, if you use ethernet. Installing it thru WiFi is absolutely retarded because muh blobs and the WPA_authenticator bug that still wasn't solved. Just ditch Debian desu.

>install debian
>it puts grub on the install usb
never ever ever ever again, use the live xubuntu

but i want stability :(

Fedora was in my completely anecdotal experience a complete clusterfuck. Maybe try rolling opensuse?

They're really not that bad, especially compared to the PowerPC Power Macs.

Arch is stable as long as you don't poke around /etc too much if you update often.

But the G5 is a PowerPC Power Mac.

Never install Debian on a physical machine.

I legit lost days of my life trying to making everything work.
It take less to hackintosh a shitty laptop.

It's not a server room. Its only video broadcasting equipment in those racks

Yes, but that isn't a G5 in the picture. Look at the front I/O. It's an x86 Mac Pro.

It's because you tried installing debian.
Literally any distro that's not debian related will work better.

never tried it. looks interesting

whats with etcher, rufus is just a couple of MB

dd is even smaller than rufus.

Linux Mint

it works on linux distros

If you install Debian without X and decide to set it up later then you'll have to go through manual setup, if you install it already during the installation process it should work OOB unless you have some weird card.

I think you misread his post.

Sounds like it's in software rendering mode, just switch to Linux Mint it has a driver manager.

>debian has a graphic installer
Lets be honest, deb's installer is in the same stall as arch's because no one cares. My advice meant to be "use a brainlet just werks installer".

Attached: programming_sock.jpg (1024x768, 312K)

this, but ironically

Just install Manjaro

Linux is a kernel, it was probably working just fine.

>Download a wifi driver and mount a usb
Oh the horror, I'm amazed you were able to overcome such a massive challenge.

Test your grafics card by installing screenfetch (sudo apt-get install screenfetch) and then install the xorg-video driver for your graphics card (apt search xf86 to display available divers), install it by :
sudo apt-get install "yourdriverhere"
Then remove all the other installed video packages by typing:

sudo apt-get remove "package1" "package2"...

To view current installed drivers type:

dpkg-query -W -f='${Installed-Size} ${Package}\n' | sort -n | grep xf86

My G3 died last day. Fuck, it was the only ppc computer I had, bought it only for that reason.

Documenationless install is for advanced users.
Do read the Debian wiki.

Linux is a kernel, brainlet.
