When you do things as intended (setting up styles for everything before writing, without font sizes etc manually in parts of the text) there are no problems with formatting between the two.

i like to add that there are other concerns (for example text rendering issues when using the file multi-platform) with formatting on libreoffice, but in the .docx word/writer area the problems are retarded users. The same can be said about office .odf support. word processors are a mess generally, mainly thanks to microsoft 'extending' standards.

i dont like getting cucked and shekel'd by microsoft as the next guy, but it is worth the 5 bux they charged me for a year.
since i want to get into citavi i might stick to windows or fully migrate to latex.

I used Libreoffice almost exclusively in college too. Compatibility with MSO, as always, was a problem with respect to calc. Aside from that, I never had any problems in writer or calc overall.

No one use this because incompatible with MSO. MSO is even more popular than latex.
