How to ruin a nice looking keyboard

are these just a bunch of blanks you bought seperately or an actual set?
I note the lack of homing keys

Just bought a GMMK TKL base keyboard, some Kailh BOX Jade switches and a cheap PBT keycap set ( from aliexpress for a total of 200CAD.

Finally I'll be free this thin ABS outemu blue cheapo mech off amazon.

Pic related (comes with a blue version of the yellow caps)

Attached: HTB12cOidjfguuRjSspkq6xchpXax.jpg (1000x667, 115K)

the only passable artisans re the resin ones, everything else looks like shit

Ordered one for $160 with clears last night because I'm impatient and didn't feel like dealing with some redditor that rubbed his gross greasy penisy fingers all over his. Oh well. It'll be here tomorrow.

Attached: large_VTG83MSLV_main.jpg (1167x436, 69K)

Lads, my box pinks come in on friday.
I'm real excited.

>yellow home key
why

Like I said. They come with blue versions of the yellow keys otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. I agree that it's pretty random though.

Nah all artisans are trash, especially the resin ones. They stand out more so and don't even match the keyboard 90% of the time. It's like some two year old stuck it on because it looks shiny.

I dunno user, I think having a clear keycap looks less obnoxious than a thor helmet.
We're both in agreement that they're ugly regardless

The only time an artisan works is if it fits the theme of the keyboard and the only one I've seen that manages to pull it off is that star craft one where the right side modifiers were zerg and the left side ones were some space marine looking things with the alphas looking like a battlefield

Can I buy a good mechanical keyboard for about 100-200$ or they are all shit in this range

Artisans are soiling the keyboard community with bad taste and cringe...

yes you can
lots of them in fact
what are you looking for?

>go on mechmarket to see if I can find a cheap used K-Type
>Literally every classified is trying to beg for or sell a one run only keyset or a shitty artisan for more than a keyboard actually costs
Why the fuck do people buy these things anyway? They look cheap as fuck but cost a fuckload.

Yeah nigga, lots of good shit for under $200
Leopolds, Duckies, the GMMK, tons of stuff.

why is it colored are you a retard

What's a good keyboard for tetris? My Logitech G810 isn't cutting it.

I don't know actually, never had a mechanical keyboard before. Just want some comfy keyboard that is also good for blind typing

they fell for the memes. clickclack was "scalping" his keycaps to increase their values and even though he was caught many retards fell for it and now think his artisans are worth big bucks. the values have dropped significantly tho

Attached: why.png (1503x714, 244K)

>not using a controller for tetris
shiggy diggy

anything with 0.2ms of lag like those bloody keyboards on taobao for 20 bucks
cherry mx keyboards (even $500 ones) lag 30-50ms which is why you're tetris experience is trash

yes, a bunch of dsa blanks
>homing keys
I'm not aware of ortho sets having these.
It's probably not important on a 12x4 anyway since there isn't much space. Pinky is simply on second column and thumb on bottom row, can't mess that up.

Got gifted a Razer Ornata Chroma for Christmas, and while it's not absolute dog shit, I've really started to notice some flaws (Inconsistent feel & sound on different keys, lackluster click, not too different feeling than a rubber dome (ignoring the click), and more)
I asked friend if he'd be fine with me selling it to buy another keyboard, and said he doesn't mind.
>Budget
~$200 AUD shipped (Maybe another $50 or so if I can sell the Ornata?)
>Location (continent at least)
Western Australia, about an hour south of Perth, if it helps at all
>Preferred switch type
Clicky. Was looking at some Box Navy switches to make my own keyboard, but unsure. Tactile maybe, but I've only tried Romer G's in a G910 at a shop, which were nice feeling.
>Layout

>Form factor
100%, media keys would be a godsend.
>Backlight
Not too bothered, as long as it's good. Hopefully it has software that lets me disable it at the very least.
>Previous/current keyboards
Razer Ornata - Both sound and feel are fairly lackluster.
Unbranded chink rubber dome - Shit rubber domes at that.

If you're starting out and don't know what switches you like I'd recommend getting the GMMK. It's got hotswap sockets so you can change out the switches pretty easily if you want to try a different keyfeel without buying a new keyboard.
That or I'd go with a Leopold. It's a korean brand that makes some of the best prebuilt keyboards available on the market.

GMMK with Box Navies and PBT keycaps
but get the switches and keycaps from china so you don't have to pay that much in shipping. KBDfans is a good place to buy switches and keycaps.

can't go wrong with a craigslist model M
you can get them for cheap i.e. under 60 bucks and will last decades. If it breaks, which I doubt it, you can just get another one. I spilled cola by accident and while it's not dead thanks to the built in drain holes I got another one just in case it dies from another accident

I'm looking for something compact. I need page up/dn and would like to have home/end. I don't care about prnt scrn, ins, del etc. I quite liked the layout of the tada68. The only issue I have with it is the square shape of the right alt key. I use it often when typing {}[]|$\, and I feel that the width alt has on a regular keyboard would be more comfortable. I've never used the right CTRL key in my life. I don't need caps lock either, and would like to be able to bind it to escape, ctrl or fn. I'd probably replace the keycaps with some double-shot PBT. I'm thinking retro styled ones that are round. I don't mind if I have to assemble the keyboard myself.

Are there any other similar keyboards that I should look at instead? Has anyone tried this keyboard?

>getting a space saver model m for under $60
I'm not sure where you live where this is possible

I feel scammed. Have checked GMMK once before, and the discount codes used to work, but now they're not.
Fug, I just want a fucking discount desu

I have them 2 times more expensive in my city (but most of them are actually about 200$)

I've got a Kailh Box Navy based kb, but not sure if key caps that are "MX style" would fit.
Just trying to customise and add some flair to my keyboard

they will fit
my box pinks and box yellows both have aftermarket pbt sets

I'd prefer it to be a little smaller. Like the pic I posted earlier, but without the left control key, with alt and fn being the size of tab so they take up the remaining space. Bonus if you still have media control, like fn+pgup or something.

Because I find it aesthetically pleasing.

Western Mass. There's so many old libraries that throw away old computers and occasionally you'd find a couple SSK. They do the basic google search and see that model Ms sell for 80 bucks on ebay so that's what these SSKs must be worth. That's how I got both of mine. There was a third one, but I didn't have enough cash on me so by the time I came back it was gone.

I think you have to spend more than 100USD to be able to use the codes. I read that somewhere.

>flamboyant colours

Any suggestions for key caps?
The main one I saw was this - aliexpress.com/item/CARPRIE-Key-Caps-Translucent-Double-Shot-PBT-104-KeyCaps-Backlit-for-Cherry-MX-Keyboard-Switch-td0705/32892642050.html
It's only the gay pink set has reasonable font. I wouldn't mind the blue/purple set if the font was enjoyable.
Any recommendations for a newfag to aftermarket key cap sets?

Attached: 9ae.jpg (1024x521, 43K)

Redscarf68 comes with that layout, but good luck getting keycaps for it. If you want you can always get a blank set, or mix and match ones. Also it's programmed with some chink clone of QMK

I'm a newbie as well but from what I understand it's a little hard to find something worthwhile on a low budget. I find these translucent PBT caps cheap-looking desu.

aliexpress.com/store/product/NPKC-Customized-61-87-104-ANSI-Keyset-OEM-Profile-Thick-PBT-Keycap-set-For-Cherry-MX/429151_32813657693.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.3.1b15608fvhQM9B

These have a decent font and should be good bang for buck at 26USD. (you can find pics of them on actual keyboards since they're relatively popular)

Is there a site dedicated to selling switches? From Aliexpress, I'm seeing 104-110 Navy's for ~$60 AUD.
Decent enough deal, but just curious if I'm missing something crucial for switches.

depends on what switch you want. KBDfans also sells switches, and some boutique sites also sell their own custom switches

I doubt you'll find them cheaper elsewhere. KBDfans and Novelkeys have them for the same price as aliexpress.

Thanks. Do you know if there's an ISO version of it? I haven't found any pictures with the wide alt key that is also iso.

the PCB supports ISO, but the layout you want is retarded so no one uses it which would explain why you can't find pictures of it.

sauce on that board? would love to get one without that gay gold key

the biggest problem tho is having to assemble it. since it's a chinkboard you'd have to build it yourself

Attached: RS68 Layouts.png (994x1102, 1.36M)

If only there was some sort of branding on it that would give you a hint and a search engine that would be able to look up simple phrases like "pc keyboard" but alas that doesn't exist

did you check the keyboard wiki? it's in the OP just so you know

got some THICC doubleshot abs SA caps on my navys
they fit

Thanks lad. I used to use cherry mx reds but switched to romer g since I found this keyboard on sale. Any specific keyboards you can rec? I'll use it as a baseline.

you need the smoothest, most ergonomic, and fastest keyboard in the world
amazon.com/B945-Strike-Optical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B079MC67PC
the numpad on the left makes it more ergonomic as to not interfere with your mouse

I finally found a pic of the retarded layout. It's nearly perfect.

I've used a soldering iron before. I think I'll manage. How much do you think it will cost me to get all the parts?

Attached: 0XPaGMt.jpg (4000x2992, 3.18M)

Any brainlet can solder switches.

About 150~ depending on how many memes you want. Zealios and GMK memes will easily bring the price to above 450
you haven't seem some of the retards on DIY

There's the white fox, tho I heard the new one doesn't support ISO.

Attached: whitefox-all-layouts.jpg (2559x1436, 625K)

membrane keyboards are better

Only buckling spring ones. And even then the capacitive model Fs are better than those.

wrong you sperglord. cheap chiclet keyboards are superior

My condolences for your shit taste user.

mechanical keybooards can too much travel
they are objectively less productive than my thinkpad keyboard

You can get low travel mechanical switches you know.

Hey people, what are my options for full size keyboard with hotswappable switches. I don't need switches or caps. Only PCB is fine too. Ideally 122 or 104 key layout.
I found only GMMK so far, is there anything else?

>that 30 percent operating force uncertainty

Likely a CYA number to be honest.

where are you getting 30% from? It says it's 60+/-10gf

how can I find out what pcb my chinkboard has? do I really have to open it up?

you can try googling it

not a lot of google results sadly, included software is also not from the same company

It's here! And it's so cute! Super programmable, multiple function layers, macros, and even though I'm not typically an RGB fag, I gotta admit it looks cool.

Looks gay

Lights can all be turned off.

then open it up. should just be 4 or 5 screws

The whitefox/nightfox supports ISO if you get it in a kit. iirc the prebuilt one is ANSI only. Not sure if the kit keycaps come with stuff for nordic, though.

if you want nordic keycaps you can always get some from Ducky, or KBDfans

Also, I really like grey keycaps for just the letters and the rest of the keys black. What are some decent grey keycaps, preferably with big printed letters on them? Willing to spend maybe 20-30 dollars on them, just want to see what my options are.

Attached: hhhyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllpppp!!!.jpg (480x360, 28K)

Hotswap fullsizes are surprisingly uncommon. For some reason no one seems to think hotswap compatibility and anything bigger thank a TKL has any demand.
Outside of the GMMK the only one I know of is this chinkboard:
>ali.onl/1fcq
Otherwise your best bet is getting a kit and finding a PCB with hotswap socket compatibility.
