It's 2019 and update-grub still doesn't check for errors in your grub file, leaving you helpless on next boot if there is one.
It's 2019 and update-grub still doesn't check for errors in your grub file...
Well, let's hope you don't fuck something up next time. Boot up a live ISO and chroot.
1. yes it does
2. if you cannot boot up from a normal grub console then you should fuck off back to windows/mac with all due haste
just press e and fix it?
boot from a rescuecd?
Grub is really ugly it needs a GUI
if your uefi isn't shit, just use systemd-boot.
>helpless
Helpless? You realize you can manually enter boot parameters?
you also forgot 3) don't mess with the boot loader if you don't have a recovery method available
Type mem=8192 into your boot command line and update-grub, then tell me what error it gives you
Not if you're sshing into a server
You'd be using the management interface if you SSH into a server. So yes, you can.
Yeah if you're rich
Just don't reboot your pc
>not knowing the exact syntax
>not knowing everything is fine before you reboot
ISYGDDT
just fix it yourself, it's open source isn't it :^)
Burg
Grub is uggo use reEFInd
>2019
>not using Windows® Boot Manager
>1970+69
>not booting your UNIX system with a init process
Step it up
> Grub is really ugly it needs a GUI
he doesnt know to customise grub.. lel at your life
and gui are horrible at boot i have to deal with pretty but horrible apple open firmware on my debian macbook air.
also another REEEE was i had 3 partitions: grub / debian / swap and i tried to make a fucking 20gb partition for win 10 ltsb to do some audio work and it would not let me install, said my disk had a MBR record and win needed a GPT what the fuck..
Didn't know GRUB was into that.
How do you do that?
>2019
>not using EFIstub
Do you even gentoo
Not every server has ipmi. Some are basic core 2 duo or i7 boards.
>update-grub
>errors
how is that even possible
>1990+29 and this nigger still thinks conglomeration of every service under one shitty system is the only way of parallelizing boot process
Enjoy your CVE’s Lenny
Could be worse, could get all the way through the gentoo install process compiled kernel and all just to find out you partitioned with the wrong file types
>just use systemd-boot
just use an EFISTUB kernel
Even entry level servers do. What you're referring to is consumer shit.
