There certainly was a time when say 8 in 8 out audio interfaces were all firewire before USB 2.0 got its shit together. Macs Had solid hardware and the best software like logic ableton live and normie shit garage band. Core Audio is based and it all just werked and werked very well it did. Apple did cater to the proffessional market once upon a time. But not any more. Its long gone pal.

Not really. Back in January I recorded my friends drums with a 12-mic setup using 2 18i20s. Recorded at 96khz and only had about 2.3 ms latency before adjusting for it. Just make sure you have 8 cores and 16gb ram
