Emotiva is really great value for the $$$, I have their 600wpc XPA-2 and it's phenomenal. Unfortunately the A-100 is a 50wpc speaker amp that hooks the headphones into that output as an afterthought. Speaker amps have a much higher noise floor and less S/N than your Topping. If you really want an upgrade go balanced with the DX7s.

This is why they don't demo them in store, they rely on the internet to create a sense of mystique around STAX and shill it as the endgame because its expensive, Asian, rare and obscure.
