Why not have some 0-1 and some 0-1-2 for different/specific computation?

Because 0-1 is how computing got its foundations, so it can't easily just start having 0-1-2 or whatever. We're starting to get that now with Quantum Computing, but it's like going back to the drawing board on the entirety of computers. Back to needing a massively-sized facility just for one very very simple computer. Back to the ENIAC as it were.
I expect quantum computing to get more powerful and useful to the point we can have it in our homes, but that won't happen until like a decade or so into the future.

If I was to format my HD, and do a clean install of Windows 10 LTSB / Education, what would I need other than drivers for my hardware? Would I have to update my BIOS?

There was a ternary computer built in the Soviet Union. The problem is that aside from making the designed system more elegant (e.g. darkness and polarized light as 0, 1, 2 over fiber optic) there's not really a lot of uses for ternary.

I need to reset my wired router. Reset, not unplugging and rebooting. I need to open my modem ports and I forgot the password I changed years ago, and I dont feel like calling my ISP right now.
My question is, what effects will have on my router after I reset it? Will I have to reconfigure it? I didn't do the installation and I'm fairly ignorant about the subject.
Will I have to set my internet connection and the password again?
Thanks in advance

It's usually a bad idea to reset stuff you can't restore. That being said, most consumer grade routers are configured to run out-of-the-box and have those settings applied upon reset. You should get a setup wizard when you connect to it afterward.

Only Chipset, Video and Audio drivers in that order.
Also disable defender, telemetry set to security mode, disable step recorder and disable updates (Install cumulative updates manually) in group policy.

I've had some issues with my hard drive locking up and having to force shutdown my PC via the reset button.

After checking the event viewer I see these errors, any help?

The IO operation at logical block address 0x727328 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\0000002e) was retried.

The IO operation at logical block address 0x1620a8 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\0000002e) was retried.

Is my drive shitting the bed?

What's the newest OS that I can install on a PowerPC Mac?

Because On and Off states are easier to design and more efficient than On half and off.

>That being said, most consumer grade routers are configured to run out-of-the-box and have those settings applied upon reset.
So basically reconfigures itself after reseting? I read you have to hold the reset button for 10 seconds and leave the router be for 10-15 minutes.
>You should get a setup wizard when you connect to it afterward.
How do I get this 'Setup Wizard'? Does it comes with the router or I must do it myself? Or download from the router manufacturer webpage?
I'm dense.

Occasionally a 2 gets into a modern computer, but the antivirus catches it and deletes it. If a 2 bit got very far in your computer, it would crash.

Leopard I think.

What about Linux?

What happened to the Jow Forums wiki? Recent changes is a weird porn text mess

Anything that has PPC builds, or roll your own.

>So basically reconfigures itself after reseting?
Virtually all consumer grade routers do, yes.

> I read you have to hold the reset button for 10 seconds
There should be instructions in the manual. Though usually you just hold the reset button until either something starts blinking or lights turn off. Reset shouldn't take more than a few minutes.

>How do I get this 'Setup Wizard'?
Just type in the routers IP address in your web browser, usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.

If a distro still supports PPC macs, it should work in that case. If not, there's always BSD. I'm fairly certain OpenBSD and NetBSD support them. Not sure about FreeBSD.

>192.168.0.1
Yes, this is the 'default gateway' I found using the Command Prompt, good.
>Just type in the routers IP address in your web browser
Right. How's the set up wizard anyways? Sorry if I'm bothersome but I'm fairly ignorant and I dont want to cause any fuck ups

>Is my drive shitting the bed?
Could be. But it's impossible to even guess without more information. What was the Event ID?

>How's the set up wizard anyways?
Depends on your router. Though it's usually just a very basic config. Network name, timezone and that kind of stuff.

>I dont want to cause any fuck ups
As I mentioned initially: it's usually a bad idea to reset stuff you cannot restore. I can only tell you what usually happens and you are taking a risk, albeit a very small one.

But as long as you don't start messing with settings that you don't understand, you should be fine.

another retard here
can i have a answer too?

Event ID 153

>Depends on your router.
DPC 2420 Cisco router
>it's usually a bad idea to reset stuff you cannot restore
Hm. Is there a way to restore previous configurations?
>But as long as you don't start messing with settings that you don't understand
Oh no, I don't mess with things I don't understand, but it seems reseting my router is a must

why is one of my external drives detected as scsi uas mass storage and the other one is just a generic usb?

Beyond form factor, do M.2 SSD's have an advantages over standard 2.5" drives?

What about downsides?

I fucked up pretty bad. I thought I didn't need my Linux partition any more so I went into disc management and deleted it. Now when I start up I get this grub rescue bullshit. What do?

No.
Higher temperatures so lower durability in a long term scenario.

And no there isnt a big difference between SATA and NVMe for OS and gaming use.

>DPC 2420 Cisco router
Looks like a bog standard consumer router. I very much doubt you'll have any problems.

Also, according to the manual there is no default username and password, so don't type in anything when prompted for them.

>Hm. Is there a way to restore previous configurations?
Not without the password. But there might not even be anything other than the default settings, other than the password you set that is.

And the last 4 bytes (under details)?

Here's a screenshot.

Got this server mobo Intel S5000PSL free. I know it's old but it has 6x sata 2 ports and a shit load of expansion slots. Anyone know the max drive size this sucker will take (6TB - 10TB?).

If you're somewhat confident with command line tools, you could try GNU Parted. It has s a rescue command that scans the disk for unreported partitions and give you the option to restore them.

Im not to hot with that. I have a USB and a Windows 10 ISO so i figure ill just reinstall it; only problem is i have no other full USB decide to move the iso onto it

theres the mobo name. why havent you googled it?

Is there anyway to download a livestream off of youtube as it is happening?

Hey guys, whenever i run mgba i get the following errors:

SDL Events: SDL video initialization failed: No available video device

SDL Audio: Could not open SDL sound system

my rom loads fine (pokemon emerald) but i get no audio, any clue as to why this might be?

0x00 - SCSISTAT_GOOD
0x04 - SRB_STATUS_ERROR
0x28 - SCSIOP_READ

I.e. the OS tried to read, the command went though but something went wrong (0x04 is a generic error).

It might be your disk, so check SMART status for any signs of imminent failure (plenty of free software available).

Are you by any chance running a sandy bridge system from early 2011 or thereabout?

S.M.A.R.T. is fine, no errors, extensive disk check on HDtune found 0 bad sectors after a 2 hour test, benchmark is good.

My hardware is new.

If this stupid headpat bullshit doesn't die off I'm going to headpat someone with a sledgehammer fuck you all

Reinstall is overkill. You should be able to just do a repair.

I cant progress from this grub rescue at all. I tried the first tutorial thay came up on google and didnt get anywhere

No you boot the windows 10 iso, but you do the repair options instead of an outright reinstall. Google is brimming with guides.

Is AHCI enabled in bios? Have you run chkdsk?

cringe and bluepilled

Gonna check both now.

It's thinly vieled pedophilia fuck off

What's an API and what are libraries?

is there any updated program to download all the images in a thread on Jow Forums? YChan hasn't been updated since 2017 and has stopped working for me recently, more than likely because of the split

No issues, so I guess the drive is just failing.

Know any good cloning software so I don't have to
reinstall everything?

Stupid question time:

What's the difference between ES6 and ES2015? I literally thought ECMAScript was versioned like 1, 2, 3,... and 6 was the most recent, but apparently now it's versioned by year? Or was it always versioned by year? Is ES2015 a subset of ES6? Is it the sequel? Is it a prequel?

Apartment owner is suing me because I trashed the place after they threatened to evict me for not paying rent. Can they do this? I thought they could just take your deposit (which they already did because I wasn't paying rent) and not take it any further?

>Apartment owner is suing me because I trashed the place after they threatened to evict me for not paying rent. Can they do this?
Yeah I think so, if you owe more than the deposit.

If this is the US, you can be sued (and lose, depending on situation) for far less.

Shiiiiiiit that place was wrecked. It's bound to be thousands of dollars to fix.

Well it's not like I have much for them to take.

can you make scripts that operate over all programs on mac.

How do I install rockbox on a AGPTEK Rocker?

>programs
applescript maybe?

Anyone have an idea what this weird Wi-Fi network near my house is? It showed up earlier today.

I need tech books recommendations, but I don't know where to look. Can you recommend something on networking basics, electronics basics, calculus, linear algebra, and maybe something on C# or sql? Thanks.

What is a good browser addon like foxyproxy but which allows me to set the proxy on a tab to tab basis.
foxyproxy only allows to activate or disable a proxy for all tabs.

How come I can't quick search in the windows 10 start menu anymore?
Used to just click start and type paint or snip and get the program up but now it's just a white window when I try.

Its a network printer or a 2003 router.

Use windows key + s

Still nothing, has there been some update changing it?

Ah. Well whatever it was, it's gone now.

What is a good and modern option to write a desktop application ui without it looking like straight outta windows 95 while also not going for some 'browser in a bottle' hack like electron.

Where's the best place to buy a cheap windows key?

I was checking out the Instagram business tools when that shit prompted me to claim my unclaimed facebook account the fuck is that? If I switch back to a normal account does it delete the unclaimed facebook account? I'm spooked

yo, whats the best os for memory usage on an amazon ec2 server. im doing the trial thing so its a t2.micro limited at 1gb, and want to run small game servers like css or minecraft to fuck around with mods. only reached like .5gb for minecraft cuz windows is bloat. thanks

How do you get a new ip address with comcast/xfinity service and modem? Nothing I've tried has worked, including leaving the modem unplugged overnight.

Have you asked you isp of you have an static or dynamic IP?
Sounds like you are stuck with static unless you pay usually.

could try changing the mac of the device connected to the modem

WPF

its supposedly dynamic but it stays static all the time for me

I tried that and it doesn't work

Enough gay shit.

I changed my DNS from the default Google DNS via DNSchanger and now my android phone is slow as fuck. Help

i'm doing ctf challenges rn and there's one with an encrypted zip file. do ctf guys use libraries or brute-force to crack passwords? i figured they'd use random passwords for these challenges since using a dict would be kind of too easy.

>libraries
i meant dictionaries

Just wait till it's down and then download it with youtube-dl
You can also try and stream it through mpc-hc but I don't know how well that works.

Probably some headless linux server, 64 bit Debian only uses like 100 MB by default.

Just change it back to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
Those are the Google DNS servers and they are fast as shit.
Otherwise use a pihole on your network and set 8.8.8.8 as the secondary dns.

Having stuff inside your bowels made you uncomfortable user, that's as straight as it gets.

>Those are the Google DNS servers
That's exactly the reason I'm changing DNS servers in the first place m8

Well there's a bunch of other ones to choose from that are public or you could always install your own on a raspberry pi.
Install a pihole on it and it even blocks all ads for you automatically.

nvm
the dictionary i was supposed to crack was called TheRipper.zip and the owner of the archive was called John. used fcrackzip to crack it.

My real question is how do I use a non-google DNS without having to always be on a VPN because I'm pretty sure that's the root of the problem. I'm using the same VPNs on my computer as I am on my phone and it works without any slowdowns.

What's a decent monospaced, pixel font? Recently found about haxrcorp, but its thinner glyphs are certainly don't have proper width, or kerning.
I'm slightly trying to make one myself in fontstruct, first was a 6x4, but some of the more complicated letters proved hard to make, doing 14x9, seems better, but still very slow and it's gonna be shit because I'm no typographer.

Messenger on pc(chrome) doesn't let me send links(tab crashes),photos, stickers. Only text. Is it because of the general outrage 3 days ago ? I'm the only one of my friends who has this problem.

This is getting on my tits.

>hdd is shitting itself
>suddenly media player refuses to play songs on the hdd
>go to desktop
>blank shortcuts for games on hdd
>open folders
>they’re empty
>restart
>everything’s back

Can this be anything else than the drive shitting itself? It will be a simple replacement as it’s the second drive but it’s still annoying.

Where can I upload ~300GB for free? It's urgent.

Post SMART and be judged

Why don't we have terminals with tiny square characters to simulate GUIs?
Maybe I've got this wrong but it seems that GUIs are inherently incompatible and platform-dependent, whereas terminal programs can basically work on anything because they just spit out characters.
A lot of terminals have colours and custom font sizes. So why not just use a very small square font and make super fast pseudo-GUI terminal programs?

Trying to replace my RAM sticks, DDR3. I've seen some webshops use DDR3L with a higher frequency/clock speed of 1600MHz. How do I know if it'll work with my mb? `lshw` says my current 2x4G have 1333Mhz.

I'm trying to 'learn' linux. I've installed Fedora on a VM, but I'm not really sure how I'm meant to learn it deliberately. I've been reading over common commands/bash and how the os works but I'm looking for it to be more directed. Does anyone have any tasks that are a good learning process?

6 mega accounts

There is curses/ncursesw,
>a very small square font and make super fast pseudo-GUI
You mean like VNC?
