Depends on if the mainstream software support ends like it happened with XP back in 2014/2015. After MS pulled the plug on XP extended support, most software companies stopped supporting XP and the install base of the latter suddenly dropped.

I think it will be a bit of a different case for W7 since the hardware it runs on usually isn't that old (2009-2012, it still works so there is no need for replacement) and the OS itself isn't that dated compared to how XP was. 7 supports up to 192GBs of ram, SSDs, 256 core CPUs. Meanwhile XP (32 bit) didn't even support 4GBs of ram.
