I don't get it

>not having proper naming convention in place for your network
>not using lain as the account name
First of all OP you are as always a retard, and that HR cunt is for once right. You have no logical naming convention for your infrastructure.

>mom finds my home server

Sorry, this is sexual harassment and I don’t have to take it

Xgeners where at work have 80s references everywhere. On the backup code for door access to the pass for WAN stats. In a decade or two it will be more normal than you think.

I would fuck her right there against the rack

You're nigger you're a fucking nigger f-f-fucking nigger

It's the naming convention I chose based off of characters of japanese animation in order to have an easier time whenever naming the servers and users.

Nice bizarro world where they dont have a naming conversation set.

poor man

laintards should be fired instantly

It's an acronym, I'd try to explain it, but it's a joke that's filled with layer of technobabble.

I kek every time.

Bump

Because I thought it was a cute name. Would you prefer I have named them George and Bobby?

fpbp

What's an Aimi?

Errrrrrrr...it was the Russians! Yea, yea! The Russians hacked our servers!

Because I'm disgusting attention whoring anime pedo scum. And I am a disease of the whole humanity.

Wait, who took the photo if the woman on the background has her hands crossed at chest?

lets all love lain

I tried more standard names at first, but the rest of the crew weren't very good at remembering those, so i used names that interest em more and now it all works fine.

> I believe someone has been able to penetrate our security. Luckily, they just did childish stuff like change server names. Don't worry, I'm already several hours into updating our security certificates and making sure our firewall is secure. I'll rerun SSL and TLS security checks, but we should be fine. I believe it was some security flaw on [Microsoft | Intel | etc]'s end, but they're in the process of patching it
Ez pz

One of our clients has all of their servers named after lord of the rings characters. Their old IT manager did a lot of stupid shit.

ghosts

All my servers are named after Monster Hunter monsters
I'm not very creative, but it makes things easier when there are redundant setups
like, I know that if Rathian has a problem, Rathalos takes over.

Top fucking kek

>I know that if Rathian has a problem, Rathalos takes over.
But, when you're off sick, does anyone else know this? Or are you reliant on this sort of thing for job security?

>name it a man name
>feminist bitched it's sexist
>fine, name it a woman
>feminist bitched why does it have to be a female name
we should start naming them kys123

there is a documentation
and it should be visible in the tools anyway.

I also printed out cute pictures and stuck them on the servers, just to be sure :3

>It's only name. Why you have to be mad?

I name all personal hosts after women.

I name ours after Jow Forums boards.

anyone have the ascii art in the pic?

>implying she would know how to look at the A records for a server
>implying I would allow her to have RSAT on her machine anyway

It's right there. Just rewrite it yourself.

>not having a naming convention system be the hair colours of the touhous describing the servers purpose
Cirno and tenshi are storage
Alice and suika are virtualization
Mokou is firewall etc

You don't seem to understand

>implying anyone upstairs understands any of that stuff

Ours are all named after Marvel characters.

kek'ed

Show me any written order or policy about server names.
None? Then your point being?
Oh, yet I forget there is a "no unauthorized personnel" sign on the server room.

d-did you just put 3 memes together into a post? wtf is wrong with you?

traps? on Jow Forums? tell me it ain't so

cirno is garbage

reminds me of how the IT department i work at has their main ftp server named claptrap and the network admin's account is called wheatley. every IT computer and account has similar names.

>luckily, they just did childish stuff like change server names
if an outside attacker could do that, they might as well have ran off with all of your confidential data for all you know, that'd be a "holy shit everything is fucked" shitstorm in the company.

Tesseract OCR

whats from this

"The routing protocol being used to control traffic is LainIGRP, so I shortened what it does in its naming convention to better explain its role to anyone else looking to work on it.
I have no idea what an Aimi was, that convention was put in place by the previous admin, and would be too difficult to change."
Roll 1 D20 for bluff.

you should have said "subscribe to pewdiepie" first, not last

>not naming your servers after Gachi memes and gay icons
fucking plebs it's like you don't want to keep your jobs

don't bother. it's trash.

>naming the servers actual names
>Not using a password manager that makes completely random combinations of letters/numbers/symbols as names
>Don't document any changes or passwords you need for the server(s) to operate

Do you even job security?

i worked as an intern for a company that named their servers after game of thrones fractions or some shit.

At work we named our bootable drives after youtubers and set the desktop backgrounds to their faces.

Has really helpednus keep track of which is which. Jacksepticeye is on the fritz right now lol.

Based and redpilled. And then you somehow lose access to the password manager and your job is gone as is the company because everything is locked down kek

well you of course make a backup for yourself. Write the stuff down manually, keep the paper somewhere. Point is to never make yourself obsolete.

I just made a shitty joke. But honestly not even that bad. Absolutely unpractical to normal users and most "sysadmins" I have seen running around desu.

I don't know what you are talking aboit user
