How do i soundproof my room?

how do i soundproof my room?
ive checked some local music shops and they are all way overcharging for their acoustic foam ($300 for a 12 pack)
amazon has better pricing at about $50 per 12
are foam tiles the best way to soundproof or are there some other voodoo methods that work way better?

Just use egg cartons.

thick walls

do these panels even work that much?

i cant find any facts on how many dB a paneled room's noise would be reduced

if i put them on the inside of my car, how loud could i listen to porn without people next to me in traffic hearing?

Build a smaller room inside your room.

diy with Owens-Corning emi-ridge fiberglass panels panels

Sound proofing or reduction?
Sound proofing will probably not be possible unless you own the apartment / house and can pay for some very expensive sound proofing.
Sound reduction planar 5cm+ thick panels.
Do not bother with meme shit like egg cartons etc.

finally an appropriate use of "meme XYZ"

You can listen however you want, but you don't need panels for that.

link to the planar panels i cant find em

how would i DIY this? are you talking about using this behind drywall?

Something like this

Yes besides panels that is the only option. And panels only do so much. If you want sound proof there is no option besides putting insulation on the floor walls and ceiling behind dry walls that ideally need to be disconnected from the floor by rubber or silicon etc.
And yes sound reduction and especially proofing is fucking expensive.

actually not much
foam only damp highest frequencies and you get shitty acoustic

Accoustic foam isn't sound proofing, it's for deadening echoes within the room.

This.

The only way to sound proof is mass. You'd need to put up stone walls make a real difference. There was some thin plastic plates that some chinese researchers were developing but it disappeared into the aether, either too expensive, fake research, or bought out and patented to sell at ridiculous prices to commercial locations

Sound proofing without stone / concrete walls is possible. But it reduces room size and is beyond fucking expensive and only possible if you own the house and so on and so forth. Sound panels reduce noise somewhat but are primarily for as you mentioned soundscape rather than sound proofing.

the best sound isolation material is constrained layer damping sheet (and it’s not cheap)

it’s used in submarines

We used something like that at work for our server racks. It works amazingly desu but I sure am lucky I didn't have to pay for it but the company cause holy shit that price tag.

Used to have a wall with these panels. All it did was reduce echo by maybe 5%. Not worth it unless you're talking into a mic and can't afford anything else.

A room at my university has these on the walls. As you walk past them it feels like you just went deaf in one ear.

Turns out the human ear expects ambient reflections and dampening them too much makes a room feel "dead"
