right now I'm using gnome, fight me.
I recommend those two patches, pertag makes every tag keep its own mode (between tiling, mono and floating), and with the other one you add those lines I have hightlighted to change the color of the titlebar at the top. That's all I use for patches. I also use slstatus for bar information since it's kind of easy to configure. I hardcoded some basic keybinds like volume or backlight brightness but I advise to use a daemon like xmodmap for that
