but i'm using ltsc

I'm sorry

>January 14, 2020, is the last day Microsoft will offer security updates for computers running Windows 7 SP1
I'm confirming this statement bullshit

it just werks

So its finally happening?
Any inb4s, Jow Forums?
>Inb4 win10 force installs itself again
>inb4 a """surprising""" new vulnerability shows up
>Inb4 the upgrades fuck up everyone's data

Anybody with half a brain can see win10 is superior to 7 in almost every single way, especially if you tweak it to kill the spying shit and forced updates.

>Anybody with half a brain
So Windows 10 users?

Attached: 1524708739520.png (637x717, 419K)

I'll take your word for that.
Anyways, will it be enough to just not download this update or will we need some anti win10 program again? I can't be arsed to wake up in the middle of the night with an impromptu win10 downgrade happening despite refusing it.

sudo pacman -S KB4493132
error: target not found: KB4493132

Why couldn't Windows 7 be the perpetual release instead of 10? Garbage.

There's only so much botnet you can push with updates alone

>if you tweak it to kill the spying shit
That has never worked.
>Anybody with half a brain can see win10 is superior to 7 in almost every single way,
It depends on what matters for you. Some people like Aero. Or a stable OS (both in the sense that it doesn't break, and in the sense it doesn't change after an update).

you retards are worse than boomers complaining about gasoline prices and obama

drink your malt-o-meal and shut the fuck up. you and your opinion are depreciated

>btw I use arch

>"Hey, I like this visual more."
>"you retard a boomer!"
Really nice conversation you're getting there, friend.

LMAO he posted it again

Windows 7, 8, and 10 are basically undistinguishable from each other functionally except 10's control panel is slightly worse.
10's only real advantage over 7/8 is that it has virtual workspaces out of the box and pseudo tiling which is pretty useful.

>HEY GUYS I CAME INTO A THREAD THAT I KNOW HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME

>especially if you tweak it to kill the spying shit and forced updates.
Which Microsoft has gone to painstaking lengths to prevent you from doing for more than short periods of time.

>Windows 7, 8, and 10 are basically undistinguishable from each other functionally except 10's control panel is slightly worse.
I think the rolling release nature of Windows 10 is its more distinguishable feature. You can't have a stable desktop without getting LTSC.

>m-muh w10 steals information
nigga, even linux based distros have backdoors.

my windows update function has been broken for years

Yeah I'm done with updates.

[citation needed]

Hi! I use linux, what is this?

Imagine changing a working system.

Attached: lol.png (1027x692, 39K)

>he thinks linux is safe
LMAO, get on with the times grandpa.

Assuming that statement is true (though you provided to source code to back it up), a "backdoor" is very different from passively collecting usage data. The first one is only likely to be activated if 1) the owner decides to pwn you or 2) it got discovered/leaked and it's being abused before getting patched.
With passive data collection, you get monitored regardless of any involvement with anything whatsoever.

How insulting is this ?
>Change can be difficult
Because that's totally the reason why a lot of us are not going to 10, not the fact that it sucks.

MS designers know how to crack a pun.

If you are stuck with MS, sooner or later you will accept everything they push.

Bend and spread your buttcheeks, sweaty, the anal probe is going to be installed sooner or later, so why do you resist?

Where is the "fuck you" check box?

It's from the news article

Nice stock image, Microsoft.

>not running a linux with a windows VM to play your games
?

If you aren't using pci-passthru how much of a performance hit is that though? Oh well there's also proton/wine and more and more native games too as options. Can't forget about that.

Yeah but not all games are ported to linux sadly, the answer if you dont want to be spied on is using a VM, need a strong spec tough.

>win 7
But I'm using Windows 10™ which is fully supported by Microsoft©

Yeah , just isn't always an option for people given budgets. Proton keeps getting better though for the non native games. But yeah that's what I'm going to try myself when I go from 7 to linux for things that don't work. So far in my research not much has some up that doesn't work in either wine/proton or natively. But that's a personal thing it can depend on what games a person likes. Protondb is a good resource to keep track of how various users are reporting on their successes/fails/ways to get around certain issues etc.

is this a threat?

>use the search bar on 7
>get results
>use the search bar on 10
>searching online... No results found

Wait to see how they are going to offer Win10 for "free" again just to push the last ramaining users on the botnet.

>virtual workspaces
Who cares.
>pseudo tiling
WHO CARES.

Is it an optional update or a security update?
If it is a security update, have they sneaked ot inside a 600 MB security pack?

TL;DR: do I have to do any work?

only poorfags and nig*ers use w7. Fact

I see "don't remind me again", although I seriously doubt that.

I have this list of Windows 7 updates to avoid that was posted here at least a year ago. Does anyone happen to have an up-to-date list? I'm probably going to update one last time.

My next laptop will be a Macbook Air, so I don't care
Desktop is win10 at the moment since I need to run specific work related software and win8/8.1 was a steaming pile on this computer.

I looked up the 3rd one, "Update to support the new currency symbol for the Russian ruble in Windows" and it has security flaws and crash errors and like 6-7 extra updates just to "mitigate" the problem it causes. LOL

>my windows update function has been broken for years
This. Windows Update is fucked up since clean install. DISM error 0x800f081f. There is absolutely *nothing* that can repair this crap, except, ironically, a clean reinstall (or maybe an in-place "repair" install but am not sure). Fuck M$.
Also Recovery Environment doesn't work from the installation DVD (shows gibberish in CMD) and safe mode is broken.

Dude just use UpdatePack7R2:
update7.simplix.info/
blog.simplix.info/updatepack7r2/
Only the website is in Russian (use Google Translate), but the program itself is in English.

>not using gahnoo + leenox in Year of our Lord 2001+18

Is that a L410?

>if you tweak it to kill the spying shit and forced updates
You cannot do that. Even worse, Microsoft is actively working against your attempts to do so.

Good. WSUS works as intended.

Attached: windows updates.png (1200x1920, 244K)

yep sure is hard just disconnecting your computer from the internet

>microsoft.com/windows7
They're literally trying to sell you new hardware and services rather than helping.

Attached: Capture.png (1551x902, 134K)

The sheer audacity of those niggers.

Holy shit this is retarded

Attached: Capture.png (1660x678, 105K)

Disconnecting the computer does not equal 'kill the spying shit and forced updates'.

Literally just a onedrive ad, using an external hard drive is only mentioned as almost an afterthought

>Im going to disable a ring 0 rootkit+botnet+rat with a few tweaks in control panel

save yourself the money and get a surface tablet or whatever it is. The airbook is nice I guess but it's ridiculously overpriced for what it is.

>please sir update windows sir
>use our product please sir
>please sir windows is a service we provide

will you be able to pirate updates then

It's a recommended update, 256KB. Just hide it.

fuck off julia

Thanks, but no. I have Windows 8.1, not 7, and the error isn't that searching for updates is broken: the updates get downloaded and installed to 30%, then restart. Then it gets to 99%. All of that takes fourty minutes. Then immediately after 99% it says "Sorry, we couldn't apply your updates. Reversing changes." and then three restarts later and after waiting three hours (much more than the time actually took to install the shit) you're back at square one.

I would hope so. Aren't updates cached locally for companies running their own update servers?

(heiled)
Too bad lincucks haven't managed to release a working OS yet.

>pirate updates
How has it come to this? Fucking hell.

you can't even comprehend how hard it is to fix W7, bait kun

>updating W7
kek. like it makes any difference

>windows 10
>better than 7
enjoy your botnet, forced updates, awful ui, bloatware, no legacy support and overall an unstable and unusable os nigger

>PCs originally built with Windows 7 are running 10-year-old technology
>tfw using Win10 LTSC on my 12 year old Thinkpad

Do you genuinely think Window 7 isn't botnet? Are you people THAT retardef?

cyka blyat

>computer is 10 years old
>this is bad because....reasons.
>this is a problem. buy new ones fellow consumers.

Imagine having the novel feature of selecting individual updates that you would prefer to have installed on your own machine via a tidily laid out user interface. That sun is setting.

Attached: Capture-01.jpg (750x473, 53K)

Do you have any evidence that it collects usage data and sends it to Microsoft with CEIP disabled and never installing telemetry updates?
A very detailed study by a user in the AskWoody forums showed it did shut up when told to do so. Why are you calling it botnet?

Fucking idiot use WSUS offline

It does indeed seem like you only have half a brain user.
