If crystaldiskinfo shows my ssd as "100% healthy", I can safely assume it didn't arrive doa, right?
I ask because I'm having trouble installen win10 on the laptop I got for my dad. The ssd shows up in boot. It also shows up in the installer when I have to select where to install. But if I select it, it's like the installer can't do anything with it. It says it can't install there, it can't delete the existing primary partition, it can't create a new one if clean the disk with diskpart.
I'm currently in the process of making a new installation usb on a different flash drive. I redid the one on the original flash drive, but I guess I gotta make sure it isn't the flash drive itself being the problem.
This is really frustrating, because it seriously seems like everything should just be working.

Probably can't use a headphone amp to power book shelve speakers. Headphone amps are designed to drive 32Ohm up to 600Ohm impedence voice coils.

A book shelf speaker is between 4Ohm - 16Ohm. At best it will distort horribly as the amp can't provide enough current to even produce a low volume sound. At worst the MOSFET in the amp will overheat and fucking die due to the low impedance letting too much current through.

Did you make sure "RAID" is not enabled in bios? Also make sure the SSD is listed first in the boot order. In diskpart, specifically use the "clean" command. If the drive is zero, the commands would be

disk 0 clean
disk 0 create partition primary
disk 0 active
disk 0 format fs=ntfs quick
disk 0 assign

Make sure you're using a 2.0 flashdrive. Make sure you don't have any unnecessary USB devices attached. When you get the error message, unplug your USB drive and connect it to a different port. If the laptop has a dvd drive, maybe try burning one instead.

As well as anything, although you're dealing with a powerlevel that's less than pretty much any onboard gpu from the last few years.

I'm on an X240, if that matters. I checked the BIOS, but I didn't see any options listed for RAID, ahci or anything like that. The ssd is first in the boot order, yes.
I followed the steps you posted. Now I get the message "windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GPT disks.

Allright, now I see a 128mb MSR partition, and a 236gb part just called "drive 0 unallocated space". Selecting that one, I can only click the refresh, load driver, and new options. Delete, format and extend are greyed out.
Using "new" doesn't seem to change anything, really. Pressing the "next" button throws up "we couldn't install windows in the location you chose. Please check your media drive. Here's more info about what happened: 0x80300002".
If I click refresh, the list becomes empty and it shows "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click load driver".

You know, I would try attaching that SSD to another computer and installing windows there, just to see if it works. It's starting to look like that drive just might be damaged, regardless of your test results. You could also see if linux has any problem installing to it.

Generally no. I mean you could try setting up wintogo with rufus, but it's usually much more trouble than it's worth. You'd be better off just unplugging all your desktop drives temporarily.

I doubt win8 would behave any differently, but anything's possible. Just listing shit you could try, you could select legacy bios instead of uefi in your bios settings then wipe the drive blank again.

i need help organizing all my data on all my hdds. I have these hdds (2.5")
- 1 x 2TB usb3.0
- 1 x 1TB usb3.0
- 1 x 0.5TB usb3.0
- 2x 0.32TB usb2.0
- 1 empty hdd 3.5" enclosure I could use 1TB hdd with bad sectors I have from an old acer pc
they all are filled with junk and personal data but it's a pain in the ass checking all files one by one, I need help in this regard plus I don't know which hdd I can use for storing my and family's personal data (mostly just pictures) but I want to have 1 hdd for storage these files and one as backup. I want to fill one with movies so I can play them on my tv when I need but as I said before I don't know which one. I could use 2TB (3.0) hdd for multimedia and 1TB (3.0) as personal data storage and make a copy on the 0.5TB (3.0) one.
I am worry about the fact that the usb3.0 ones have the USB port soldered to the hdd board but the 2.0 ones are just old and not enough capacity for multimedia storage.
