Explain why you're not making at least $75K in your tech job.

Why did you fail Jow Forums?

Attached: download (6).jpg (590x516, 44K)

because i'm making $300k with my Ph.D. in Math

Doubtful

because everyone is obviously making $120k+ a year on Jow Forums

how did a baby chicken / pheasant wander into the photo?

I am homeless

Attached: 1489107742529.png (650x487, 571K)

Because I have pic related on my fucking arm and I just started learning to program.

>430 euros per month
I-I just started

It probably won't get better.

Attached: Touma1.gif (512x288, 1.3M)

I quit my job because my firm was losing money. I blame this on my christian upbringing

based communism

I'm too scared of rejection to apply for jobs

so comfy

Because I'm on neetbux plus compensation for some volunteering. It's quite comfy to make 1300 bucks a month doing jack shit.

If I count salary, 401K, profit sharing, health care, life insurance, and PTO then I am well over 80k.

And most millennials don't get any of that stuff, plus I am debt free with a nice car and I will inherit a house one day. The only bad thing is I live with my dad who is a disabled veteran and I take care of him so dating is basically impossible.

But I'm happy, I'm doing well. But I am not in tech because it's a meme. Medical field is the way to go, Jow Forumsuys

I'm making more than twice that so I don't need to explain shit to you.

I’m lazy and people think I’m retarded. I may be.

>health care

>have bachelor of information technology
>1 year database and 2 years sysadmin experience
>never made more than $60K
>???
>making over $75K operating a fucking crane on a construction site right fucking now
>have only 2 years experience

High paid technology jobs are a meme outsourced to indians and cheap immigrants.
No way I am coming back to any kind of shitty IT job.
Can't believe wasted 7 years on my life chasing IT jobs with fucking "unpaid internships".

as a dev?

I was going to do something just like that, but my mom pressured me out of it, saying I was "too smart" not to go to college, so now I have spent 6 years learning how to be a CS cuck only to realize I hate all of it and I will never get a decent job. What a pathetic life this is.

>crane operator
>bragging about a job that can be fully automated by shit-tier pajeet code if it wasn't a literal mafia racket

i mean i get that your job is comfy but a monkey could do it

Just started on January as a junior sysadmin (no prior real working experience).
1200€/month + meals and fuel refund
Will get 1.5k from September and they will rise by 100€ every two year

101k but non Qol expenses reduce it to 72k.

>number of workers of anytype such as engineers, technicians and trades in construction is low as fuck.
>So low price of labour is a big toll in construction budgets.

If anyine wants to get in a field, try sliding your way into construction.

Jesus christ is that after tax or before? Either way that's poverty tier you're better off as a bar/waiter.

Put more shit up your bull

After taxes
The minimum in Italy is ~800€/month, so is not that low.
A waiter can reach ~1000, maybe more on luxury places
Remember to you all here we have near 50% in taxes cut off

I think my job won't be automated for a long time, because if things go wrong, the site manager has me to blame and it becomes my problem. I am responsible for the safety.
If the crane is automated, who is responsible if a health hazard occurs or someone gets killed? The software developer? With the chances of bugs happening even on most thoroughly tested software, no developer is going to risk it.

As long as they need a real person to blame for something bad happening, I will be employed.
Don't know any software or AI that can judge safe conditions based on other people voice input and things you can and can't see.
Bricklaying will probably be the first to be automated but it's still a long way to go.

Because I opted for a bigger equity stake instead of just the salary

Ah my bad I was thinking London prices.
What's life like on Italy? I'm always mirin how chill you guys seem, and how much you enjoy yourselves.

It just goes on.
With ~3k/month a family of 4 can live without too much hassle
I'm 26 and still live with my parents, is difficult to go live alone here...
As I have a little bit of money extra I'm gonna move

>still live with my parents, is difficult to go live alone here...
Is it true that that if you move out before finding a wife your mother will feel insulted?
It's something I've heard about how you lot are more traditional in that aspect.

Not really
But the christian influence here is heavy, so is easy to find people that are way worse than that (virgin till marriage and so on)

damn dude I get more from my government just to study

because i hate money

i make 12k per deployment days thats the base income
this number goes up depending on the severity of the situation the cargo of the ship the weather and how fast it can be done

the maximum check i ever saw for a single day was 37339 euros worked for 12 days so you get the idea

im a master diver at comex btw

Only top 10% in the industry makes that much money tho

desu at this point and after so many years of living and dating in London, LA and Moscow, and with all the stories and experiences of others that I've heard, I'm starting to believe that the old Christian way was the right way.

I make 80k a year as a librarian.

Attached: 1553397867967.jpg (960x1200, 105K)

Because I've only been working as a developer for about a year now. Making 51k. It's alright for now.

you spelled camslut wrong

>Explain...
Why? One valid reason, please.

That is not bad, just seems strange in 2019 society

As a newfag who has been on Jow Forums since 2007 with no degree I think I am representative.

If you guys are wondering why you aren't making 75k a year there are a number of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with the practice of computer science.

1) There are a lot of multitudes of tech companies out there that claim to practice "good software development" but have a massive problem with Ivory towers that their initial developers built themselves. problems the initial developer never envisaged can't be solved because the system the initial developer build was obviously perfect.

2) As a result people often hire others who can help solve the problems outlined in (1) but they will fail as the developer that built the system will resist changes they don't understand

3) If you can solve these rather small but prevalent issues in startups / businesses, very large salaries are open to you but the majority of your time will be spent fighting against momentum of "This is how we usually do things"

4) Once you learn how the companies work you can negotiate very well and easily get 80k without having the encyclopedic knowledge "their it guy" has. You can use this to hop jobs fixing systems and building up your experience.

Probably a big caveat to this is always go to conferences or such things to learn about solutions that people embedded inside companies don't have the time to attend. This is how you make yourself valuable.

At some point though, you will have enough experience to just become a contractor, because this is effectively what you are at that point.

For example, I was a lowly web developer, but having been able to convert a monolithic web app to a micro-service, I have effectively doubled my salary since my first job where I stayed 5 years.

Oh and one more thing, companies will pretend as if they want staff who can learn new things, but they actually tell people to "Just do what we have always been doing". You have to prioritise your own learning.

Math Ph.D jobs starts with 150k minimum

Based Italian poster. 433.80€ precisely

£16k a year poorfag here
i did a shit degree and now im paying the price, working on a production line while i try and teach myself what i should have learned at uni

Why do white people not ensure their lips are moisturized? Like its obvious that your lips are crusty why not use chap stick?

She's not even white you retard.

I make $680 CAD a week, because I don't want to take calculus for physics. Why the hell would I want to do that stuff when I like computers?

Che combini per quella miseria?

>convert a monolithic web app to a micro-service
I've only ever seen this make shit more expensive and less maintainable. It seems to be a solution only relevant when you MUST do it because you're serving thousands of requests per second.
I'm thinking you're probably just a scam artist high on his own Dunning Kruger

sick ass job. anybody bite the dust on your shift?

>Everyone in this thread complaining about making $50k or less
Do you guys live in fucking mongolia or are you college dropouts that are working for pennies to try and get your foot in the door? Literally everyone I know that does anything remotely related to tech makes atleast $70k

Attached: tonie.jpg (650x365, 43K)

The whole world is not USA

I'm humble and bad at selling myself despite having good skills.

I’ve never had a job

Not the guy you're responding too, but I notice lots of people who make like 60k and are trying to grind their way to 70k are completely disbelieving of the possibility that other people their age are making 200k+, almost like a coping mechanism. Why don't you figure out how to earn more instead of trying to kid yourself that people making a lot more than you are just lying on the internet?

I live in the third world and live the whole year with 5% of that

Attached: PHcxqKS.png (641x514, 890K)

It's dumb talking about salary when everyone lives in different cities and countries with their own economies.

How much is $75k? What % of it is spent on the basics (rent, utilities, food)? How much do you save?

thats a chink moron

$75k is pretty wealthy for a single person. You would probably bank more than %50 each month

I was talking about this with my Dad the other day but working in tech being a random generalist/code monkey isn't fulfilling so I'm going back to school at 25 to get an engineering degree wish me luck. I'm making $80k CAD before taxes as a contractor but it's just code monkey work

as much as i love tech, sitting at my desk all day waiting for some boomer to call me to go reset their routers is not my ideal career path.

i would pump as much as u can into that 401k in your 30's-40's as possible

you get money to fucking study
what teh fuck

>americunts still think socialism is bad and evil

haha have you even googled which countries are socialist? all the good ones.

Because I fucked my life up and now I'm stuck in a shitty small town with literally no tech jobs working for $13/hr at a factory destroying myself. I'm sore 24/7 and there's always mandatory overtime so I get taxed nearly 25% of everything I make.

I tried freelancing and failed horrendously. I couldn't get clients that wanted to pay more than $1/100 words for writing or more than $50 for a website. I tried selling SEO packages but people thought the concept of SEO was a scam. Maybe I just suck at life and this is my life now. I live for the weekend and wish 2/3rds of my life away hoping for the week to hurry up and be over with.

>Venezuela
Sure thing buddy

Venezuela is a beautiful country. its currently being disrupted by the CIA

dude have sex and smoke some weed jesus christ.

But I am making at least $75K

>86,000 Canadian Dollar equals 63,956.91 United States Dollar
Wait shit

>have sex
I don't make enough to get an escort at $13/hr and I'm not attractive.

thats a yikes senpai

You sound young

>have sex
>tfw

u sound young for not knowing theres more to life than money

Wait until you move out of your mom's house and realize there are bills in the real world.

>having to pay bills when your rich parents don't just pay for you to rent a house and go to school in another state
Keep thinking women give a shit about you doing anything for them lmao they want easy fun and you're not it.

>having bills

lol capitalism wins again!

Oh boy. This kid is in for a real surprise when he's older.

>not starting at 500k minimum
Lol what a poorfag

I make that much working at mcdonalds fulltime

88k salary + benefits (bonus, stocks, 401k match, etc). Been there for about 2.5 years

Why does anyone care what older women want?

>be you
>be complete shit at your job
>upset you are replaced by pajeet who will do better work than you for half
>angry that pajeets are doing better
Whereas, most people who aren’t shit at what they do, like me:
>be me
>get great grades
>hired on by great company
>make over six figures in three years
>work my way up the company in no-time
You’re just shit at your job. And you need to face that. If you weren’t, then they wouldn’t outsource the work to shittier people. The only reason you’d really want to do that is if they were as good as you or better.
t. Someone who actually manages multiple teams of developers and does this for a living

no way how do i get into the field?

What language, what role?

$115K salary + benefits. Pretty comfy desu

>make 50k as a web dev in the usa
>that is considered a decent amount in the white trash state i live in

not sure if i should move or what, ive never really lived outside the state and all my friends/family are here.

Just started at a small MSP making a 30k salary with a few benefits.
It's enough to provide for myself and pay for my certs as I get them, so no complaints here.
Pls be gentle, am only 20 with a diploma.

I do. Why are you so quick to assume people fail?
Projecting much?

>$75K in your tech job
Without factoring in cost of living, salary makes little sense. If you're pulling this in the Midwest US, you're rolling in dough. If you're in a major city like NYC, 75K leaves you below the poverty line.

Attached: 1453168561884.gif (175x177, 463K)

Ok but where do you live? 115k in fucking mountain view california is literal poverty.

It costs $30k a year to live in Mountain View.

>......................t...................
>>"""""""""""""""""""""""""T.""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
He's at it again! No life experience, no gf, still a virgin, who likes to hate speech on Jow Forums with his lies of success. I'm onto you scandi-bro. Still no friends in the homeland?

> $115k
> 15% bonus
> stock grant
> benefits
> Austin cost of living

I'm p happy over here

>$115k
>minus 25% tax rate
> equals $86,250
>minus $30k
>equals $56,250
Keep in mind the higher cost of living there, it's a real thing Jow Forumseeks, you can say you shop at target etc. but you pay higher gas, higher electricity, higher everything because that's california. So your real take home is far less than an user not living in Cali.

I highly doubt that.

I wish austin wasn't in texas. Great food. good COL. amazing food and nightlife/shit to do. But goddamn I hate texas so much.

Someone living in a "low COL area" would be making half that.
