What the fuck is going on?
Are chromium shills being payed double today?

>shills
>OS is free

>trying to play dumb when you actually are dumb

It isn't. People will suggest ungoogled chromium or brave while not realizing that both of those makes it even easier to track you than stock Google Chrome.

If you want privacy you either use Firefox which you have to configure manually to behave identical to Tor or you use Tor (which is just heavily configured Firefox). Any other method is either a marketing scheme or placebo by edgy teenagers who don't know most basic principles of information theory. If you don't care about privacy just use Chromium.

I meant it isn't possible.

>what is ungoogled-chromium?
Already done.

Explain how ungoogled-chromium is still making calls to Google. Point it out in the source repo.

how hard would it be to set this up, if you have only been using Linux for 2-3 days?

very easy
just click the goddamn link

gotcha... are those all just Linux prompts? I'm on Ubuntu. Thanks for replying btw

You can't. Chromium contains the same sync stuff that Chrome has, you're just missing out on a few features.
That said, you should probably stick to Firefox or just hold your nose and use Chrome or Chromium. Modern web browsers are incredibly complicated pieces of machinery, and have entire teams of people dedicated to keeping them up to date. For a living. As in, they get paid to work on browsers. You do not want to put your PC's security in the hands of a mickey mouse team that is maybe working on the browser as a side gig to scratch a personal itch and updates when they have the opportunity. They simply do not have the resources of the big guys.
Do you truly want privacy? In my opinion, you probably shouldn't even be using the web. I personally use Firefox, but only to promote diversity and push back against the webkit monoculture - I have no expectation that my privacy is being respected.

This guy is a Mozilla shill

Not him but brave does have a more unique fingerprint than chromium or chrome. And it's not like chromium and chrome set the bar high anyways.

I'd say it's pretty good since your browser is registered as just Chrome, whereas Iridium has its actual name show up in the user agent string field.

>As in, they get paid to work on browsers
No, they get paid to pretend their competition is meaningful. That's not how capitalism works.

>no evidance to prove given statement
>Explain how ungoogled-chromium is still making calls to Google. Point it out in the source repo.
He can't. He suggests fucking Chrome as a privacy oriented browser and is insufferable on top of it. Just don't bother.

>user agent string
Literally the least of our problems when it comes to fingerprinting. It's literally a problem of browser configurations, cookies, and the constant duplication of privacy software every time a corp tries to alter causality.

>I personally use Firefox, but only to promote diversity
>promote diversity

Femanon, is that you?

Thanks for the pedantry that doesn't actually contribute to the conversation.

So, how do you protect against canvas and WebGL fingerprinting? Which extensions? And wouldn't this make your browser all the more unique?

I actually had second thoughts about using that phrase, but upon reflection I purposefully left it in to see if one of you brainlets would actually be dumb enough to purposefully take the phrase out of context to meme about it. Thanks for not disappointing.

>Firefox is pissing me off.
piss off then

Ungoogled-Chromium seems to be legit. You're good despite what Jow Forums says

spyware.neocities.org/articles/ungoogled_chromium.html

Use Iridium or Ungoogled chromium. Firefox is a turd.

Why is he pro Best Korea. That seems like a very odd stance to take.

Everyday, another google thread.

i wouldnt hesitate to chalk it up to mental illness .

Give me proof that Chromium does not call back to Big brother and i'll install it.

>ungoogled chromium
>uncooked food
>unborn kid

Fair enough. Praising true Communism is just such an angsty teen thing to preach. So strange to see it coming from a grown ass man. Even if he does think himself a woman

some guy made a firefox shill thread, and now he's spamming firefox hate threads to make chrome users look bad for some reason

lol, bitter chrom* fag detected. And how do you even know this? Post proof.

...

That's not definitive proof you fucking retard

no success huh? Guess another day with good ol Palemoon

Even Debians Chromium has the Google image search and translate features. Simply because it's convenient. You won't get rid off it ever.

just look over the source code if you care that much

Just use Lynx.

I don't really, the extensive shilling of this botnet has just made me interested.

Not him but you should actually read his post. He is completely correct.

He never said at any point Ungoogled calls back to Google. The point is about fingerprinting and evercookies. As soon as you connect to a domain you connect to both Google and Cloudflate (often even if you block Google connections since they are first partied).

Now if you use Ungoogled or Brave a server (including the mentioned companies) can see you are using this specific Browser and can deduce all your plugins through Javascript. Now tell me how many people worldwide have the exact same hardware, IP (even if VPN), browser, browser add-ons and visit that specific website at that time in date? If you aren't using a Mac or Tor I highly doubt there are more than 2 people on this planet at the same given time.

That's also why Tor explicitly tells you to not install add-ons or resize the window and this is also why in academia you get told to specifically load ads and trackers assuming your fingerprint is non unique since blocking them is another entropy factor.

Seriously everyone posting this link proves he has no clue what he is talking about.

Look what this guy does. He checks telemetry. That's it. Since all Browsers are open source (Chrom* Firefox) this can also be done by simply checking the source code clearly indicating this guy is just an idiot.

Google or cloudflare don't need telemetry to detect which websites you specifically visit. Even worse how people think telemetry is backdoored although not only it is open source but also heavily regulated by law. Why choose such a risky way when there is an easy path that can fetch the browser history of everyone not using Tor that also is completely legal (i.e. fingerprinting and super cookies) and that clearly fools little children on Jow Forums just because some regard autist finds ungoogled Chromium to contain no telemetry calls which is more than irrelevant.

that is why you either use Firefox configured likeTor or Tor.

Literally anything else cannot by design offer privacy. I am amazed how people think that Google a company whose main interest is tracking and aggregating data would give out a browser where there is even a possibility for them to not follow the user regardless how much the code has changed.

Think about it why is every fingerprinting issue getting closed as Wontfix in chromium bug tracker while Firefox gets more and more fp protection from Tor.

>Use ungoogled chromium, brave, waterfox, pale moon, etc
>Get uMatrix
>get uBlock
>get a spoofer
>get a vpn
Presuming you aren't talking about government, you're gonna be fine with that setup. Presuming you ARE talking about government, then there's really not much you can do.

How can you guys be that incompetent? Literally every Website on the planet will be able to tell it is you witht that setup in under a second.

Again imagine how many people on the world use the exact same hardware as you the exact same browser and its version and all the plugins and spoofers. All of this can be detected through JS including the spoofers. The only spoofer that works is Firefox resistFingerprinting and even that isn't enough.

You want your uniqueness to go down not make yourself stand out more. That's why the other guy said you should use literal Google Chrome. Imagine running ungoogled/brave/icecat on a thinkpad running Linux with privacy badger chameleons and some other add-ons. How many people do you think have this setup worldwide and visit that website you are visiting at that exact time?

Now imagine you have a rebuilt Macbook using stock Google Chrome no add-ons. Should be obvious yes?

And fyi all of that info is detectable through Javascript and no disabling JS does NOT help since there are only handful people worldwide who surf with JS and CSS and supercookies can still track you.

Anyone who wants privacy either has to use Tor or stop trying to achieve privacy by making themselves stand out even more. This is basic first year of information theory how fucking retarded has Jow Forums become
