it was free - friend sent it to me with the screen not working, and had attempted to fix it, and was actually, in turn, originally his aunt's, and the screen had stopped working when she had been the owner. i fixed it in 5 minutes (remove bezel, reseat ribbon to the LCD driver). I swapped the 320gb HDD for a 500gb WD Blue i had, and installed various distros after discovering this E1-1500 APU is NOT cut out for Windows 10, or even 8.1, which it came with. After different distros, i arrived at Elementary OS Juno with cpufreq installed. not bad, and can run Chrome pretty slick on 4gb of DDR3. might spend the 20 bucks on a ram upgrade to 8gb. Not a Thinkpad, and hasnt cost me a cent to this day.

I really want to like those old latitudes but they have that jewish shit where the power brick is designed to fail such that it can't verify itself to the laptop, and then the laptop underclocks the CPU by half and doesn't charge. Last one I had did that and also the nvidia gpu desoldered itself.

i gave my 2560p to my mother, got a 2170p running mx linux (pic related) now.
except for the 2560p only having bluetooth 2.1, it was more comfy, while the 2170p looks nearly identical, the 2560p felt much more stable and rugged and also it was 50% more heavy

actually not so bad. its basically an inbuilt 6430 Radeon and uses the open-source Radeon drivers, so i can replay 1080p video if i needed to, but the display is 768p so i dont usually bother going above that/720p. i also manage to emulate a bit of stuff with Retropie x86. i even manage to render video with it in KDEnLive, using scripts to cut down on render time by over half. i use it for light productivity and travelling. 8gb ram upgrade will be a bit more welcome, but so far, never cost me a cent and the battery is still good for two or three hours.
