GNOME DE on Fedora

My main gripe with GNOME 3 is they made the extension language fucking JavaScript instead of GNU Guile (Scheme) or embedded Python, and shoved way too much crap in the main Mutter thread.

Must be my hardware but Gnome 3.30 runs much better on Debian testing than it did with Fedora 29 in my experience. 3.32 on Arch is smooth too

The issue with gnome is that it's both touch and keyboard driven. Isn't totally focused like i3, or doesn't change automatically like Windows 10.
E.g right click on taskbar pops out a huge menu regardless on ubuntu, whereas on windows 10 the menu size changes according to mouse clicks or hand taps

I like Windows XP.
I like XFCE.
I like LXQT.
I fucking hate bloat.

KDE Plasma is best

gnome 3.32 is pretty great I must say, I've no urge to go back to KDE Plasma or any other DE/WM at this point
it is bloat but my system can handle it so I don't care at all

i WANT to like gnome. boxes and the disk utility are two great pieces of software that justwerk. this shit is unacceptable though at this point and keeps me sticking with plasma

KDE is the worst DE I've ever used. It has almost no keyboard shortcuts by default. Made for point and click mouse niggers. Crappy Nvidia support due to inept developers. Bundles useless K apps. Bloated and uses too much RAM.

As much as I like gnome the performance is abysmal, which is odd because it doesn't really do that much. I assume this is because the code is of questionable quality, and also because javascript in the fucking shell.

I've zero idea of what they've done but I experience no stutters with an nvidia card on 3.32

what toasters are you running to have such performance problems? i run gnome on a x220 and it's smooth as it can be!
