From a marketing standpoint, it does. Pythonfags feel at ease with Go, thus making its adoption easier. Ironic, since Pike and co. targeted Sepplefags initially. But Go is too simplistic for them.

Of course Go is nothing like Python, but it solves a specific problem (server-side concurrency) that Pythonfags hurt themselves on implementing.
