Poorfag here.
I've been using these Sony MDR-EX15LP earbuds for the past few years and now I got some KZ-ATEs.
Compared to the Sonys, the KZs sound much better and things are more clear, but the very low frequencies (sub to low bass) are much weaker, and it almost sounds like I'm not inserting them all the way into my ears (I am).
Is this because the Sonys had too much bass, or because the KZs have too little of it, or because I got some fake KZs?
Pic related is the only site that had the Sony's curve, but I don't know how accurate it is.

KZ Quality control

nice bass is sony's entire schtick so yeah even on the cheap ones they'll emphasize it quite a bit
your kz's are just fine it's just the sony house sound

What do you mean by "nice bass" exactly?
Like louder than normal/flat, or that you can hear the low frequencies more clearly or in a more detailed way?

we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children

but more importantly buy stax

I've got a pair of AH-D2000's right now, and I've had them for about 3 years. Running them through an O2/ODAC. Is the jump to the D5000's appreciable?

As they say, the difference happens in between the cans.

Jow Forumsoobers, please recommend me the best DAC and amp I can get for under $50 combined. they can be an all-in-one or separate, just get me bang for my small buck. It’s for my Sennheiser 58x and possibly a DT 770 Pro sometime in the future
>pic unrelated

if you have any pros or cons you want to call out about your rec, lemme know!

Nothing really fits into that budget, so just get a FiiO e10k

audiophile releases can be mastered better. its the reason to get them not some insane bitrate

should i buy better headphones or can the dt 990 sound better with a dedicated headphone amp? im currently using the headphone out on an amp thats meant for speakers. it goes really loud but i dont really like the sound

buy better headphones

Thank you for contributing $1700 to the STAX/Edifier corporation.

Fun fact: Since labor in China is so damn cheep, the going rate for online marketing campaigns using Chinese students as marketing interns is about 12 CNY per hour (roughly $2 per hour), so the money you paid has just given Edifier enough budget for another 1700/2 = 850 paid hours to shill STAX here. That's another full month of 24/7 monitoring of this thread by STAX marketing interns.

And in those 850 hours of stax shilling, at least one fool will far for it, capitalizing the next 850 hours of shilling.

Its like a perpetual ponzi.

mcintosh is pure marketing disgusting bullcrap

will do that then.. might get some 600ohm ones too so they work properly without some expensive headphone amp.

STAAAAAAX GAAAAAANG

Bought a cheap ground loop isolator and I feel like it fucked with my sound quality. Makes everything quieter and messes with the lows.

Is there such thing as a higher quality or trusted brand I can buy? Everything on amazon looks like the same chink shit

Clip the cord to the shirt in such a manner as to prevent it brushing your nips

In which case a cord wrapped around the neck is the solution.

>people still unironically buy STAX

But why?

If you already want to be a hipster and not buy dynamics, why not just buy a pair of $200 planars?

How do LCD2C stack up? Is the bass any good on those? I'm on the fence between replacing my very worn SE535s with another pair of those or getting LCD2C.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheater_plug
buy one of these and tear the tab off the back

I have them and like them, but they're not for treble heads. There is about a 5db dip at around 4khz which makes them very non fatiguing, but if you want to increase the treble you can always EQ them, they're super low distortion.

Dont take my word for it, watch the reviews:

Good bass is just a front chamber seal. You can just seal mod a stax and get as good bass as an audeze with 10x better treble. Audezes only have good bass because they have a tight seal

Treble heavy headphones like the DT880 make my ears bleed so sounds good to me.

Did anyone get the denon d2000 when they were still available? I got fostex from massdrop because I thought they would be a direct replacement but they sound nowhere near as good, wtf mate?

can't the nostaxers find a better brand to shill? audeze is just plain shit

The sheer desperation of Stax marketing

what can i get that is similar to the shp9500?

Nice Reddit post you wrote up.

Why not just get a SHP9500 off newegg? They're like $70

>Denons
Nice. I've had my AH-D1001s for like 5-6 years probably, they've been great but I've been getting an itch for something new. How do you like the 2000s

oh i thought they were discontinued, thanks!

well, do you know if there's a closed version out there?

Is my Fiio e10k a bottleneck for my HD 6xx?

for me, it’s Stax

Probably not, but you could upgrade the amp to a JDS Atom and use the E10K as just your DAC if it makes you feel better.
By the way, try this EQ profile if you haven't already:
dropbox.com/sh/654wxtmhlq0dhqa/AACD0efi5ElxmuouyJ6DoJcKa/Sennheiser HD650.pdf

You can close them yourself but it's a bit of effort not to make them sound like dogshit. I think zeos did a video on it but I'm too lazy to link

yeah

Speaking of the HD6XX, these are the first decent headphones I ever bought, I got them in the initial drop on massdrop and have just been using them with the standard onboard audio on my computer exclusively

Am I likely to notice a large difference in sound with a proper desktop DAC?

Thanks, they seem to be about what I want.

Thoughts on the msr7s?

Depends on the onboard audio you have. If you want to make them sound better for free, try the EQ profile I linked up there. I bought an external amp+dac for my HD650, but I can't say for sure whether it would make a noticeable difference for you or not.

You'll notice a big difference with a big amp, but DAC not so much.

why would you steal that idiots pics of all people

If you're dumb enough to fall for a 1980s meme-tier "earspeaker" in 2019 when there is plenty of information now easily available that points to it being an outdated audiofool snake oil, you kinda deserve to lose money.
