How to achieve maximum uwu and awo in a thinkpad?

Attached: IMG_20190327_023930.jpg (2988x5312, 1.51M)

Just upgraded my t420 to a 900p screen. After some research, it seems i somehow managed to blow the backlight fuse. Any clues as to how i can find it and short it with some solder?

Attached: mios.jpg (500x380, 37K)

Lenovo have the complete schematics on their support website
Go there, search for it and load them into your pdf viewer, you can either google for the name of the circuit you need to look at and control+f for it in the schematic or you can just browse through the whole thing

They're generally circuit board schematics rather than drawn diagrams but if you're reasonably intelligent they aren't too hard to follow

lmao retard

Repostan..
how well does an X201 OR an X201s run Minecraf

Quite badly

Is it okay to buy a 2019 Lenovo ThinkPad?

You realize why people like thinkpads right? Because you can buy 3+ year old ones really cheap.

Because corporations buy them in bulk for a cheap price and then ''update'' their laptops in every 3-4 year, flooding the market with not very used, refurbished cheap laptops.

So if you buy a new thinkpad as an individual customer you will pay premium price. As I mentioned above most new thinkpads are bought in bulk on a discount price by corporations.

But I mean yeah If you have money you can buy one. I would love me a maxed out t480 but that was costing 2.5k$ even with ''discount deals''

reposting

multimeter in resistance mode to find it, and jump it with an equivalent through-hole fuse if you can't do surface mount soldering

No shit falls at least 50-60% in value the moment you complete the purchase lmao dont get scammed by lenovo

If you want to spend Big bux buy a Dell or something

itt
poorfag neets that don't understand that the warranty is literally the only reason to buy a thinkpad

this surprisey me, since it is quad-thread right?
buy 2018 in one year, get a T480 for $500 then

>weeabo tripfag

I rest my case

holy shit thinkpad chan you did it! Everything full settings and 2x aa and 720p 60 frames on css! on the most demanding map! I love you i3 thinkpad chan youre great

>You realize why people like thinkpads right?
for me it's the trackpoint
that's all
and chinknovo still makes the best trackpoint so yeah

Says the depreciated hardware loving probably trannyboot user.

btw not a weeb

Just getting started on this. X200s cutest ThinkPad

Attached: x200s.jpg (4096x3072, 1.81M)

btw battery is fucked I know

As a web developer is there any Thinkpad that has a good enough screen to use for webdev?

when I think of thinkpad I think of my old T430 with the shit screen and shit 1300x900 resolution

I'm pretty sure most refurbished thinkpads have fucked up batteries

Get any thinkpad and a monitor that's big enough for your big boy needs

Attached: smiling_esqueleto.png (1366x768, 977K)

I currently use a T420 but I have a T410 with the base shit tier screen, as well as a proper desktop computer

Is there anything I can use the T410 for? I was thinking there might be some way to use it as a seedbox or something but I don't know if its worth the hassle

Mine's not even refurbished.
One problem I've noticed. When the screen is set to anything lower than maximum brightness I get a really annoying whining noise. Should I be worried? I mean, this display is so dim I'm gonna use it at 100% brightness anyways, but some internal components might be dying

>Mine's not even refurbished.
Well, it's not new, is it?
>dat screen issue
Cool. I'm not the only one experiencing this

of course it's not new. it's used. but it's definitely not refurbished

how long has the screen thing been going on for you?

The noise might be the ccfl backlight

Couple of months, and I've had it for like three years now

Thinking of getting I've of those new X390 laptops

Thin, light, cheapish thoughts?

>1000 to 1400 dollars on a laptop
Fucking why though
You could get a more powerful desktop for half that and a nice laptop for on the go with the rest

it definitely is the ccfl
not gonna cause any harm I suppose
I was gonna get an LED screen anyways. gonna need a new inverter board for that too, right?

I have a gutted but pristine a20m, how do I get cheap sdram?

also I can somewhat influence the noise by pressing down on the bottom screen bezel. might open up and see if there's a loose connector.

You realize it will fall in value to 600$ the moment your credit card is billed, right?

Attached: 1541460307454.png (249x249, 79K)

I have a 4 year old desktop, looking for something portable.

don't really to compromise, unless there's a good older model similar specs?

I don't believe any of this!

Very cute indeed.

What distro has the best compatibility with a gen6 x1 carbon? This'll be the first time i install Linux on a laptop, and apparently it can be a nightmare. Ubuntu or pop os seem to be decent?

tfw i dont even have my thinkpad for more than a week, and it's already broken. im an absolute awootism, i cant have nice things

I can get a full-spec X1 Carbon (i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, HDR screen) for around $1800 CDN. Worth?

how would feel if I asked the same question of you, smiley?

soo
if I upgrade from CCFL to LED on my X200s, will I have to get a new inverter card? Lenovo only lists one FRU number for these things, so I guess not?

>Snyders
yum

Suggestions for the cheapest lightest dankpad?, need something to take with me everywhere to use it to remote into my PC.
Don't need any specs, just very light and very cheap.

T430 anons, how's that battery life going? Is it worth it to buy an used 9-cell battery?

Assuming don't need any specs means literally anything semi modern an X200 or X201 is your best bet

Had my 9-cell since 2013 and I get about 4 hours

Yes, absolutely, the charge is not going to last long enough if you're doing any tasks with a standard cell battery. I have a 9 cell and I don't always have to worry about being close enough to an outlet before I sit down to work, I just have to occasionally check it.

Then I usually make sure that I'm always able to charge it once it reaches 50%.

guys, need ram upgrade recommendation for t440p. looking at 16gb (2x8) from below link. thoughts? to drunk to thoroughly consider this myself at the moment.

Why is there never love for the plain ol' X200 here? ;(

If you are actually going from a CCFL backlight to a LED, you will need the inverter and display cable. If you're feeling lazy, the X201's head will fit perfectly onto a X200, and has a guaranteed LED display.

I've been rocking a 9cell at 99% capacity for the past couple days. With my very light workload and underclocking I get 7-8 hours on it. Not bad at all I'd say. I'd always recommend the 9cell over the 6cell, the extra bit hanging off the back isn't going to kill you.

Attached: 2019-03-27--1553734606_1600x900_scrot.png (1600x900, 1.89M)

Thanks, I'm going with the used 9-cell, then.

i dont have a thinkpad but ive been redpilled on it so far so im going to buy one pretty soon

Attached: 1553718539624.jpg (220x221, 7K)

t460s owners, do you recommend it?

i love both my x200 and x201!

Attached: IMG_1731.rotated.jpg (3024x4032, 1M)

no

Is there anything more lightweight and thinner?

Attached: IMG_20190328_104847.jpg (4000x2250, 3.22M)

Can you carry it around everywhere or is it too bulky/heavy?

*'more than a feeling' sounds in the background*

>mfw my thinkpad has a dead ultrabay battery and almost dead 6 cell
fuck quebec jews how could you do this to my 420si girlfriend

>T420si

>si
oh no user

ThinkPad shimipan uwu

she screams like a banshee. poor i3 cant even run osu properly

>plain ol' X200
I actually bought the X200s partly because of you, friend. It's just that getting your hands on a regular X200 (or any X series from that generation) is crazy expensive in Germany. Gotta take what you get.

nice wallpaper awoo!

Attached: IMG_20190327_212419.png (1856x1054, 2.28M)

lmao

Is this a Jow Forums approved setup? desu

pls tell, there's a seller here that claims that is better than a x260, what do pls guys?

Probably

Attached: IMG_20190327_230655.png (1696x989, 1.8M)

yes you can.

Getting some sweet sweet bonus money and want either X1 Extreme or P1. Have some super sekret discount codes and want to get the machine mostly maxed out (nice display, 1tb ssd, the good gpu, 32gb ram, etc).

X1 or P1?

Will be using for l33t spreadsheets, Lightroom, Photoshop, sometimes Premier, maybe some other Adobe stuff.

Don't care much for 3d printing / cad / autodesk stuff but maybe in the future? Don't game at all but might dabble occasionally, but I don't give a shit about fps or anything like that.

What do?

trust no quebecois
compare the specs dumbass

Well P1 comes with xeon, ecc and quadro if any of these are not a priority and from what you're saying it's not just get X1 Extreme.

I'm running Kubuntu on my T440p. Whenever the system is awake and I try to plug it into power, the power LED keeps flashing and the laptop doesnt charge. However when I close the lid and then plug it in to charge, it begins charging successfully. Has anyone else run into this issue? thanks in advance

x201 cutest thinkpad

cute, upgrade to buster or sid
cute

My t42 just arrived in the mail, seems to be in nearly mint condition! Any suggestions for what distro to put on it, or a comfy, lightweight desktop environment?

ebay.com.au/itm/12-5-LED-LCD-Screen-for-Lenovo-Thinkpad-X220-X220i-X230-X230i-U260-Display-IPS/272292807432
Will this IPS panel work out of the box for an X230?
Pic related is the X230 I'm intending to buy the panel with.

Attached: 1522313928291.jpg (1600x1200, 206K)

If I get a x230, which RAM should I buy and which SSD should I get?

Gentoo is not a bad choice if you have another computer to make binary packages/cross-compile on but give Lubuntu a try if you don't want to go full meme.
I heard slackware is also pretty good but haven't got experience with that.

Should I get a x230 or x250?

x230

If you care about performance and can't stand a 1366x768 screen get the X250 otherwise get the X230

Check the wattage delivery of the AC adapter, if it's the 65W it's probably not powerful enough, get a 90W one.

Trackpoint gives me RSI, what do?

prosthetic hand

Guys, there's a banged up x300 for sale near me, for about 55 bucks, should I go for it?

I absolutely wouldn't, I own X301 and 2x X300 and hate them, so unless it's in remarkable condition..

why do you hate them? I was eyeing it because it's pretty rare here, and it has an interesting layout, with the front battery and all.

Guys, i've found a deal - t520: i7-2670QM, 4gb, 500gb, intel HD+quadro nvs 4200m, good battery, charger.
135 europoors. Should i go for it? Thinkpads are kinda expensive in my country, this is a price for T420/X220 here.

good price man
